High marks for following through and meeting their commitment and doing great work. I had an Almstead arborist review the property and provide recommendations on some dead limbs and trees. We came to an agreement. When the crew came, the arborist wasn't there (later found out she'd left and moved north). As far as I could tell, the crew didn't have the instructions we'd agreed on and they did some, not all of the work. What followed was back and forth, but after a few months they sent out the crew to remedy the missing work. They did a great job and I was very glad. I appreciate the office staying on it and making it right. I've used them for 24 years and happily look forward to continuing to use them. It's a lot to trust your trees to someone!

Fred came over to assess the job and spent lots of time with me , even suggesting other ideas for my backyard as he is knowledgeable in all things plant related. The price was great for the amount of work that needed to be done. There were 3 men ( one being the foreman) … we talked about what needed to get done and they even did some extra clippings! They blew and cleaned up the place. Overall a terrific experience. 100% would hire them again.

I have received one of the most unprofessional emails from this company after being a repeat customer. They take zero responsibility, blame you and allow themselves to be rude and disrespectful.

Loved the trees Almstead planted! The came at the precise time expected, wearing PPE to work the job and got right to work. The result is 11 beautiful arborvitaes that look amazing! I will be using them again next year when I finish the backyard with new plantings. What a great experience from booking to result!

They are terrific. I've worked with Ken Almstead and his colleagues for over 12 years. They're the best in the business, always have great ideas and are very responsive.

Did not go well because the staff that arrived had no clue what to do ,and this was after I had a employee explain what had to be performed ,how it was to be done how much was to be pruned from certain trees etc,etc .They also over charged a ridiculous amount to cut a few branches from one of the trees .Another thing was that they failed to bring the supplies to complete a job of installing a tree support sling and did not have the courtesy to ever get back to me to say if they intended to complete this job .Would Never here again

I was so impressed by the knowledge of the estimator. He was pleasant and advised us on so many different trees. Jonathan our contact came to the house for a 2nd time when we decided not to take a tree down but trim it instead. The day the work was preformed the crew and Jonathan did exactly what was expected even better then I would imagine. Worked neatly and asked if I liked the way it looked on every tree & shrub. I would refer Almstead Tree the results were beautiful and job well done without any a disappointments. Thank You Jonathan

We were looking to remove a 50 inch diameter, +150 ft. tall read oak from our property and the majority of the companies we contacted told us that they couldn’t handle this job and the ones that were willing to do it were asking for an absurd amount of money. We found Almstead while they were doing another job in the neighborhood. After we called them, Erick visited us and besides giving us a reasonable quote, he also gave us some options that would had also addressed our problem. He was extremely polite, punctual and took time to explain the whole thing. The whole tree removal took three days. On the first day Erick showed up with the crew and after a few minutes of setting things up they start working on the tree. The tree was leaning towards the house (that’s why we decided to cut it down) which made the whole upper branches (larger as trees themselves) removal even trickier. I was most impressed with the level of skills displayed by the crew while cutting and taking down all the branches. After the stump was ground (on the third day) it is like the tree was never there! On the second day a few siding panels were damaged and the day after that happened Erick stopped by to assess the damage and start working on getting it fixed. The holidays were around the corner which made things a little bit more complicated but I have to say that every time we called him to follow up on this, he answered his phone and he was on top of this. I think this extra level of commitment is what drove me to write this review. We received a great service in the broadest sense of the word and in my opinion, that is very rare nowadays.

Scheduled an appointment to have someone come to look at a tree and when I called to confirm the appointment they had no record of it. They apologized but there was little effort to honor the original appointment and there are simply too many tree service people A rated on Angie's list.

They're real tree professionals. The workers were great. I feel like they're college trained tree cutters. They're a good company. They actually know about the healthof trees that's why I call them. They're real arborists.

Ken came over, made a professional evaluation. Tree by tree he notated what needed to be done. He then gave me a rate for the entire day. Everything was covered under one charge. The day of, the men showed up on schedule, they removed all the vines from my house, the fences and gave ten or so trees a long overdue haircut. They even trimmed one of my neighbor's trees that had been growing over my driveway and onto the power lines. The were professional knowledgable and thorough. I was very pleased and would definitely use them again

This is a follow up to my earlier review. After posting a negative review of Almstead earlier I was immediately contacted by Jeff the arborist at Almstead. Jeff apologized for the issues I had and sent out a clean up crew the next day. He also refunded the cost of the stump grinding as his way of apologizing for the mess left earlier and the poor communication. I appreciate Jeff taking responsibility for the mistakes made and trying to rectify them.

i authorized the work the first week of March and was ask to make a deposit of one third of the total cost of the work via credit card, the amount quoted to me on the phone was about 500 (one third of the total cost of 1,500). The crew came on March 16th and performed most but not all of the work. On that date my credit card was bill 944. When I saw the charge I assumed that was the remainder of my balance but was surprised Almstead will charge my credit card without checking with me to be sure all the work had been done and that I authorized the charge. I called Almstead and they acted surprised that I would want the rest of the work completed. In the words of Jeff Delaune the arborist on my account "You want all this work done?". Almstead sent me a proposal i authorized the work and find a charge on my credit card for about twice the amount of the deposit and Jeff wants to know if I want all the work done. Seriously? It took more than 2 phone calls and two emails to finally get another crew out to complete the work. This was done in two stages as the stump grinding was done by another sub contractor (I was bill an additional amount for the stump grinding). I was not told when to expect the stump grinding to be performed but they did show up eventuallly (about three weeks after the original work was done). Honestly instead of asking me if I wanted all the work performed i thought Jeff would offer to do some of the work for free as his way of apologizing for not doing all the work the first time the crew came out and for forcing me to call and email several times to get them to come. Lastly they did a poor job of cleaning up after the pruning and stump grinding. They left some branches on my lawn and saw dust scattered around my backyard. I just received the final bill from Almstead. It turns out they never billed me for the deposit just the worked that was done on March 16th. I was very confused about that as I thought I I had been billed for a deposit. I will not use Almstead in the future.

I contacted Almstead after SavaTree (whom I had been using for nearly 30 years) was slow to respond to my request for service and then acted unprofessionally. I decided to find another aborist but wanted to stick with a large company because the little guys only seem to know about cutting down trees, not keeping them healthy so they don't have to be taken down. The Almstead arborist was knowledgeable, professional and helpful. I will use them again for future work.

Work seemed to be done well, and the tree bracing looks fantastic. But we were left with a number of branches that now look "hacked off", and others which are dead. Mr. Almstead himself is professional, friendly, widely-knowledgeable, prompt, and responsive. We liked him, and felt that his professional assessment was quite through. So I am not sure what happened. Maybe a fluke.

Great customer service. Workers arrived within the time frame given. They did a great job.

They did work when I was not at home, so I do not know if arrived exactly on time. I was surprised that a tree that was damaged and had to be cut down resulted in a pile of shavings. I called and they explained they use different equipment for different things. That a different piece of equipment was required to cut up and get the stump out of the ground. Sure enough, a few days later, all work was completed and cleaned up nicely. Very professional company.

They did a great job. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

Overall I was satisfied with them. Initially I was not completely happy with their work, but they came right back out and finished things up to my satisfaction.

Jeff from Almstead was very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. He and the crew were on time for our appointments. They did a "structural pruning" of the trees, greatly reducing both height and width. They took as much off as possible, without risking killing the trees. Their price was average. We had 3 quotes for the job, all from qualified, trained, arborists. The quotes were all within a hundred dollars of each other. We chose Almstead because the quote was the most detailed, and showed the price for each item rather than just a grand total, making it easy for us to decide what to do/not do based on our budget. Update 11/28/14: During July 2013 job, a small shrub was damaged. Jeff promised to replace it and said it would not be a problem -- It is a common and inexpensive shrub, and we just spent $2000. We did not push to have it immediately replaced because we didn't want to inconvenience Jeff & crew and trusted that they would return when they had another job in the area. However, as of Nov 28, 2014 it has not been replaced. Although Almstead has been to our house to do another job, and I reminded them, it was not done. I am disappointed but still hopeful that they will keep their word and will update this review accordingly.
