Description of Work: John put a very expensive GAF good looking roof on my river front , very visible home on the wind swept Hudson River , He did , very professional , with a good crew , in a timely manner , and on budget .

Description of Work: I contacted several roofers for quotes to tear off old shingles and replace them on one half of my house due to shoddy workmanship by a previous contractor 7 years ago, that resulted in leaks that caused damage to my home. John had performed roofing work for a relative which gave me the opportunity to see his work first-hand -- he also came in considerably lower than the other quotes I received so I decided to engage his service.

Description of Work: John was professional, very prompt, and reliable. He works fast and steady all day long with excellent results. He is highly experienced with finely honed skills and attention to detail. He moves with ease on steep roofs. When we took off the five layers of roofing on the front of our 260 year old house and found spongy step sheathing John suggested we do it differently than we had originally discussed. He clearly laid out the pros and cons of applying our new cedar roof directly on the skip sheathing verses covering it with plywood, ice and water shield, and cedar breather. In addition the spacing of the skip sheathing would have made the shingle application much more difficult. While he didn't pressure me in anyway, I felt like I had all the information I needed to make the decision. When my husband returned from a week-long trip, and saw the condition of the now exposed wood, he assured me I had made the right decision. It took longer and cost us more, but I don't anticipate roof problems for the next 50 years.
