Made appointment over the phone to have AC unit serviced. Person came out on time, was very nice and told me not worth repairing since unit was so old. Made appointment for estimate, which took a few days. Got estimates for traditional unit vs ductless, after wrangling with landlord and building stayed with traditional unit. I was hoping they could finish in one day since I closed the office early for them to work, but something came up and the employees came late and left early so it ran over until the next day. They were clean and professional though, so no major issues. Got a digital thermostat with it, wish it could be programed per day instead of 5 day/2 day only. But overall system has been running great, just in time for the heatwave.

TF O'Brien designed and installed an excellent central A/C system and made the right call to use a converter for the basement. However, 3 years and about $25,000 later ($20,000 for the original installation and about $5,000 for service), we have spent a minimum of 25 hours a year getting the system serviced and we have been without A/C for the first heat wave of every year. Service appointments are few and far between on the weekends, and although the technicians generally show up on time, they almost never complete all work in one visit and usually don't correctly assess the full situation on the first visit, requiring multiple days off from work for the customer. The receptionists who schedule service just say whatever they need to say to finish up the call, as when they told us: "We don't have any Saturday appointments available for you because they're all booked for customers with service contracts. If you buy a service contract, we'll give you Saturdays next year." But the next year, service contract in hand, I was told: "I don't have any Saturdays available, they're already all booked." Five weekday/workday visits later, when I pressed the Saturday issue, I was told, "Oh yeah, we've worked one or two Saturdays this year, but this coming Saturday was booked." When I confronted the representative on the earlier comments, she said, "Who did you talk to? I never told you that." This is a refuge they have taken more than once; when I asked them "Why did you tell me last week that you had received a necessary part and were coming out to install it, but cancelled because the technician was sick? Because now you're telling me that you just received the part yesterday and opened the box this morning and it's the wrong part, so you're cancelling the appointment." ...all she could say was, "Who did you talk to that told you that?" Topping it all off, they made it difficult and expensive to order filters from them; they don't take phone or Internet orders, and generally tell you to find the filters on the Internet. When I asked where to find them, they told me to Google it. When I finally begged the technician for the filters, he agreed to order them; they charged an arm and a leg, partly because they will not send them to you in the mail, they actually pay a technician to drive them to your house...but only when he's on a service call in your neighborhood or at your house. Finally, the system was only installed in 2008, but I've replaced the converter pump twice since then and replaced the "contact" on the central system twice, and now it has a leak. At the beginning of the 2011 service debacle, I got the service manager on the phone; he answered one question well and said he'd look into the other question. When he didn't call back for a month, I left a message; when he didn't call back for six weeks, I left another message; when he didn't call back for a day, I left a message with the answering service; when the phone rep called an hour after a service appointment was supposed to start to cancel the appointment, and I mentioned that the service manager hadn't called me back yet, she said...of course..."Who did you talk to? I didn't get a message like that."

I had a Carbon Monoxide problem in my office, Milton came to inspect my HVAC unit, and schedule my service date the following business day. He returned as scheduled maybe 30 minutes late, but not a problem. He did his work and left. Gas Co. came back to inspect the CO levels and they found trace amounts. I called TFO Brien and asked them to send Milton while the gas company person was there. He came back met the gas co people and both companies agreed that the problem was resolved. This was at my place of business, and I wasn't too interrupted with my day and schedule. TFO Brien receptionist was very pleasant each time I called, she did not make me feel like I was bothering anyone. She took my concerns seriously and immediately contacted me back. Overall I think this is a professional and reliable company that deserves their A rating on Angies list. Prices are reasonable too.

I telephoned this company at 9:30AM on a Friday because my tenant did not have heat. I was told that someone would call me in the afternoon with a time for the visit. I called at 3PM to ask if someone was still coming. I was told yes. At 5PM I received a call that no one would be coming to my home. I was given the after hours telephone number. I called this number and was told someone would call me Monday.

NEEDLESS TO SAY WE DID NOT FOLLOW THROUGH AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE WE KNOW

The service experience was wonderful. The service man was knowledgable and thorough We bought a service contract and ordered a new filter. If this company was dishonest they could easily said it was more than just a fuse. By the end of the call our air conditioning was working

Very well. Heating Specialist arrived on time, pleasant, neat (put bags on boots), communicative, efficient, and fixed the leaky pipe.

Their work was satisfactory to us. They came back and had to replace the thermostat.

It went very good. They were very professional, neat, and clean and all the installers were very professional too. I am very pleased with the whole operation. I plan on using them in the future if I have need.

2 workers, Lenny and Adloi, came over in the morning around 8 o'clock in the morning. They installed the unit outside and worked diligently through the day. An electrician came around 11 a.m. and worked for about an hour. The workers were very professional and courteous. The work was done around 3 p.m. They showed me how to set the new thermostat system and followed up with me a day later to make sure everything was ok. I really appreciated their friendly service and I would recommend them to anyone.

It was awesome. The estimate and initial visit was very impressive. Uniformed professionals providing quality advice, not just fixing something that was broken. The work was performed on time, on budget and they have a maintenance program that is reasonable and makes perfect sense. (Keep it running correctly with regular maintenance vs waiting for it to break.) The maintenance contract also provides discounts, which is an added bonus.

Having the entire house redone T F. O'Brien's workers were by far the most professional and pleasant to be around. Timely, beautiful work, considerate, reasonably priced and professional.

From the initial consultation, to the finished products installed, T.F. O'Brien was a friendly,and professional company to work with. We met, discussed product choices to use,and pricing of job to completion. T.F. O'Brien than removed old units and installed new products as described, and on the installation date they scheduled. Upon completion, they walked us through the operation of the system and did frequent follow-ups on how our system was performing. The final amount we paid was exactly what was originally quoted by T.F. O'Brien. We will recommend their company to any of our friends or relatives in the future. A+++++ operation.

Tenants complained that there was no heat in the morning. Called O'Briens and scheduled a service call. They arrived early that afternoon as promised and performed the job professionally and efficiently. Also the technician Walter was very friendly and informative about the proper operation of the system. Cleaned up all of the mess created. Place was left cleaner than when he arrived. All in all a great service experience.

We received estimates from several reputable companies. Our experience with Kerry from TF O'Brien however was what convinced us to choose this company. He was responsive to all our questions and took a great deal of time with us going over the various options and pricing levels. We live in an older home with many idiosyncrasies and the two technicians who performed the installation did a wonderful job despite the peculiarities of our home's framing. They were professional, courteous and extremely hard-working. Additionally, Kerry followed up with us personally to ensure that we were pleased with the work performed--which we were. After the installation, TF O'Brien was also very diligent in making sure that we received the promised rebates in a timely fashion. I would recommend them highly and as an added bonus--we received a delightful gift of thank you cookies from David's!

At the inspection, their tech did not know how to work my honeywell t-stat. When the season changed from cool to hot, my system stopped working. With the service contract, they advertise 24/7 service, but did not hear back from them until 3 days later after a long weekend. At that point, a service call was scheduled. They found my digital thermostat was burnt out and tried replacing it, unsuccessfully. They wanted to charge $400 for this. After 3hrs, they left without my system working & I was still charged for the call. They did not follow up. I called again on a Saturday and did not hear back from them again. We ultimately called another company that Saturday and they came the same day. They also found that the problem was more extensive, including a blown transformer and a broken valve. I was upset that T.F. O'Brien missed these problems during the maintenance, or at least at the service call. I decided to try and cancel my contract, but they continue to not return calls.

I FEEL THIS COMPANY DID A GREAT JOB ON THE MAINTENANCE OF MY HEATING AND AC. THE INSPECTION AND CARE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE TOO LONG. THE PRICE WAS ALSO FAIR COMPARED TO THE QUALITY OF WORK. THE COST WAS RIGHT IN MY BUDGET.
