They were awesome. They were super professional. They didn't rush us to make a decision but we were rushed because we wanted to have the air conditioner before the baby came. One of the guys that is part of the family walked us through what BTU level we would need and prices so he was very knowledgeable and smart. We really felt like they weren't trying to gouge us. The prices were very competitive. He was there for the installation and he placed everything really well. He said to do it a certain way to cause less damage to the house and it would make it look prettier because we have a really old house. He was thoughtful about how important it was for us to maintain the old charm of the house even though we were going to have this huge air conditioner, which we appreciated. It was expensive but when we looked around, they were competitive. They actually finished early. We would absolutely use them again.

Boiler started acting up, making loud noises, did some research on angies list came up with T.F. O'Brien and decided to give them a shot, lady I spoke to on the phone was very nice. Anthony was the guy who helped us, he was courteous, very professional knew right away what was wrong, fixed the problem, no b.s., I would def recommend/use TF O Brien again in the future. Very happy with my experience.

I had to have a new Boiler installed last year after Irene, and went with another company with an "A" rating here on Angies List. Not sure i even looked at T.F.Obrien at the time. Anyway, that install went great, and wrote a nice review for them as well. So, after Sandy hit, I knew that getting a new boiler would be tough, so i called ( the old HVAC company ) right away. Being an existing customer, they said they would get to me right away. A few days later i received a call asking what i needed. I explained i needed a new boiler as the basement had flooded again. He said ok, and would call me back to book a date. a week and a half later after numerous calls, he said he could get me on the schedule in 2 weeks. 2 Weeks later, no call. I called again left messages with the secretary, on his voice mail etc.. Another 1.5 weeks later with no call backs i began the hunt for a new HVAC company on Angies List. Mind you during this time, we were living in our house with 4 little kids, no heat. I did end up purchasing a generator, and about 8 portable electric heaters. Was pretty cozy to be honest. So, as i begin to look for a new HVAC company on Angies list i come across T.F O'Brien and a bunch of others i would consider for the job.. I began calling and asking for someone to come give me an estimate. Most companies told me they were only servicing their existing customers, and might be able to get to me in a few weeks. Finally i get to T.F O'Brien, and they get me an appointment for the very next day! Knowing I am a new customer not an existing customer i thought that was awesome. Nobody else would do that. Turns out this was the best choice i could have made, and i should have started with them! They came and looked at my damage and gave me an esitmate on the spot. He also confirmed that he would be able to get my install done in 2 weeks, and would be in touch in a few days to confirm everything. few days later, i received a call, and everything was on track, except that Slant Fin was no were to be found. Wanted to make sure i was ok with another brand with the same or better specs. Company called Carrier. Turns out now that i have this Carrier installed i love it. Much better than my old Slant Fin. No more standing pilot light. The carrier has a self ignition. Great feature.. Anyway. i accepted the replacement model, and they confirmed they would be at my house the following week. Next call i received was that following week from them confirming that they would be to my house on Thursday afternoon to begin the job mid afternoon. That thursday i received another call letting me know the guys were running a little late, but they would be there in an hour or 2 to start. 3 men arrived with a van and a truck. I met with them, all very nice and polite. They had a look at what the job was, asked a few questions, and i reminded them of the additional pipe work that needed to be done. They said no problem, we will get started removing the old boiler, and install the new one the following day. Everything went smooth, and they came back and finished the next day. Nice guys, very polite and they did a great neat job. They did have to come back the following week as the downstairs thermostat was not working. I called to let them know of the problem, and they sent someone out to fix it the same day. great after sale support. I can say that I am very happy with this company ( T.F. O'Brien ) and will be happy to recommend them.

The service person arrived at a suitable time. There was a banging noise that took less than a half hour to find. Turned out that the furnace blower motor was the problem. Service person said that the blades were extremely dirth and should be cleaned but warned that the motor might have to be replaced. Cleaning the blades of the motor did the trick, and the motor was purring again. I found the service technician extremely honest and willing to answer my questions. He could have easily told me that the motor had to be replaced right off the bat (it had been replaced 6 yrs ago). I had also spotted a leak on my watertank, he looked at it and found it was leaking from the valve. He didn't recommend replacing the plastic valve on a 16 year old tank but was able to tighten it and stop the leak. I had already considered replacing the tank but now I have time. Service tech warned that I should keep and eye on it and replace it sooner than later. I was so thrilled with their service that I also purchased and AC & furnace service plan Repairman was honest & dependable. A job that could have esiloy cost over $600.00 was done for less. I will definitely recommend them to anyone. I had been considering a service plan, after this experience I was convinced that I should buy it from O'Brien.

Had one of the salespeople come out and give an estimate on central AC. Was very courteous and professional. I am still in the process of selecting someone but they are high on the list. I highly recommend that you call them for an estimate.

Chris OBrien came over to our house around June 2012 and discussed with us his ideas. He gave us three different brand options and gave us an estimate on the spot for each of the three options. He gave us detailed explanations about the pros and cons of each brand and what options are available if we intend to expand our house and AC system in the future. He was knowledgeable, professional and we felt like he knew exactly what he was talking about. We didn't hire them right away because we wanted to hear from the other providers we contacted. We had follow-up questions with Chris and sent them via email and he always responded pretty quickly (within two hours). He sends replies even on Sundays so we were happy that they were easy to reach and quick to respond. Eventually we hired them for the job that was scheduled to start on Jul 2012. The contract included installation of two 9,000 BTU units and one 18,000 BTU unit from Carrier. They started when they promised they would and although it took them a day longer than expected to finish the job, we were happy with the results. On their last day at the house, we checked out all the ACs and they look neat and professional and the piping outside were cleanly propped up so it's not an eyesore. The afternoon after they left, we did notice something wrong with the units. When we turned off the unit in the 1st floor, the other units in the 2nd floor stopped working and not generating cool air anymore. We called them that evening and TF OBrien sent in one of their guys the following day (which is on a Saturday). The guy looked over the system and he said that there was something wrong with the wiring of the units and that they would need to send in someone to fix it on Monday. On Monday, another guy came in from TF OBrien and we told him what we've observed (by that time the units have started spitting out bits of ice when you turn them on). He fixed it within a couple of hours and we've had no problems since. So although we had some initial problems immediately after they finished installation, we were ultimately satisfied because they addressed the problem pretty quickly. The units we bought also comes with a manufacturer rebate and TF OBrien filed the rebate form for us so that we just waited for the rebate check to arrive after they were done with the installations. Overall, we would definitely recommend this company to others.

Very good job on all fronts.

The service was suppose to be performed on Oct 28th but due to Sandy he was not able to keep the appointment , at next appontment he was sick but they called and reschedule it. They did the great job and i have used them eralier too for the same work.

They did a great job and I have no complaints about them.

Called the company to have the 40-year-old thermostats for our heating system replaced. Was told there would be a $129 fee for estimate and that company would call before serviceman's arrival (told them I had non-movable doctor's appointment). Never got call; my son contacted me to say the serviceman was there. Not only was the estimate done, but all three thermostats were replaced before I arrived home from the appointment. I'm not unhappy with the new thermostats or the work, but I was not happy that the work was done before I had a chance to approve it or gauge pricing.

Overall a very good experience. Most professional and thorough estimate I received with helpful insights. Job done on time as described. Minor issues post completion resolved quickly. Wasn't wowed by workmanship but not disappointed either.

Arrived on time. Were neat (my wife insists all guests remove shoes in the house and these guys had no issues in complying). Professional. My installer AJ really knew his stuff. Everything went smoothly and they took the time to do the job right. A/C works fine just know your prices.

The service professional, Lenin, carefully explained all his investigative procedures to ascertain the source of the problem in the central air conditioning system. Lenin appeared to be conscientious and was extremely courteous. Lenin explained all my options with regard to the central c/a system not operating at the moment. Lenin checked the central air conditioning units in both inside and outside of the house. I advised Lenin that while I wanted the central a/c system to operate at the moment, I did want to change it until the end of this season. I was in no way pressured, but was advised of all my options.

Nothing to tell - no one showed up for an estimate

The installers from TF O'Brien were very professional and did a great job throughout the 4 days. They showed up promptly every morning and worked quickly and efficiently. I have delayed for a while before putting up this review to have the opportunity to try out the units and I must say I am very pleased. The units they recommended and installed are extremely quiet and cool off the rooms quickly. The days of turning on the AC in my bedroom 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed are over. In 5 minutes the room is bearable and in 10 very comfortable. I am very happy with this whole project and would happily recommend this firm to anyone.

I felt like they were overcharging me, they tried to add a bunch other services to my bill that were not going to fix the problem. I paid the service charge, and told him to get off my property. I felt that the service person that came out was a bad representation of the company.

T.F. O'Brien installed a ductless air conditioning system in our house last week. All I can say is "what an excellent job". They are a very professional company from the first phone call to the last day of the job I have no complaints. They are polite,punctual and very tidy. Rishie & Vishal who installed the system were so nice and answered all my annoying questions! They are really hard workers and very knowledgable about what they do. it was a real pleasure. I will definitely use this company in the future and recommend them highly.Caroline Krone

Met with Chris 1 week earlier for an estimate. Explained what I was looking for and had him lay out several options, we chose the cheapest alternative given the amount of usage we expected. On the day of installation, Dion got there on time, and worked from 9am-7pm to complete the job. Dion attempted to cause as little visible change/damage to the interior and exterior to given that there were no existing openings and they had to snake the electrical and pipes through the ceilings. I feel they did a very good job of this utilizing a storage closet and keeping the unit out of sight. The external unit was also set up very neat, and the workmanship was very organized and professional. Dion also explained how to use the system, the maintenance needed, and stuck around for awhile while we tested it to make sure we were happy. I'd use these guys again.

They were excellent and did a great job. They were very professional. They took their time with the job. It was a complicated installation. Instead of rushing through it and trying to get it all done in one day he came to me and said we are not going to be able to finish today. They came back the next day and took their time finishing t to make sure that it was right.

The company was very professional. They arrived on time, worked cleanly and neatly, Left my home clean and tidy each day and returned on time the next day. The job was done on time and in the time frame promised.

It went better than great. In the past they installed 5 ductless air conditioners and a water heater. I knew they were good from my previous experiences with them. The guys did the work on the steam boiler over 2 days and worked with me on every aspect. I asked tons of questions throughout the process and they were very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Oh, and they also knew exactly what they wewere doing. I have recommended them highly to friends and family. They even sent me cookies after the install. These guys are top notch!

He was punctual and friendly. He checked out my old boiler and then we discussed the cost. Pleasant experience, and my dogs eventually got use to to him, and they never get use to anybondy new...

About 5 years ago, I had T.F. O'Brien install 5 ductless air conditioning units in my house. It took about 3 days and it was honestly the best service and quality product I ever had upgraded in my home. I really bragged about the product and quality of workmanship.About 3 years later, I needed a new water heater and thought who would be best for the job, but T.F. O'Brien. Well, I just wrote about 2 paragraphs of what happened and deleted it because it was just a horrific experience for me and my family. So basically, I did a 180 and instead of bragging about the company, I warned everybody of what could happen. And over time, I felt that that one experience with the water heater installer shouldn't kill my expectations of the Co. Afterall, the AC installation went great, so I called them back to do my steam boiler maintenance. The guy who did my AC install came by and I was so happy and trusted this guy as he did such aa great job in the past for me. So in the end, he said I need a new boiler and I will probably go with them if this guy does the install. Let's see what happens and I'm expecting a $3,000 bill too.

They were wonderful, on time and did a nice job. They cleaned up and were here when they were supposed to be. I was very pleased and will use them again in the future.

We called when our central AC began dripping after previously having it fixed by a handyman. When we called, the 24 hour answering service forwarded our message to Milton, who called us back within minutes. We described the problem to him, and he gave us some suggestions, and assured us that somebody would call in the morning to schedule an appointment for the afternoon. Although they didn't call us early in the morning, and did not have a record of our call, I spoke with them again and they said they would send somebody between 2-6pm, and they would call when en-route. By 5pm nobody had called, so we called them, and they told us that there were delays, but somebody would be there that day. By 6:30pm, Anthony arrived, and was a consummate professional. He was polite, helpful, and explained things simply and clearly without making us feel stupid. Anthony let us watch his work, and described every step of the way, and why each intervention was necessary. His diagnostic skills were great, and his interventions solved the problem. He recommended that we replace our old central air, and explained the yearly service contract, both without demanding or arguing with us, as other contractors have done. The price he quoted us was fair for the kind of work and length of time he spent with us. Anthony recommended a 2" filter. We got one, but it doesn't fit correctly, so we'll see if we can make some minor changes to make it fit.
