The owner responded quickly to my initial call and came the next day and gave me a written estimate. I called to schedule the appointment and was asked if I wanted to seal the decks as well. I said I wanted to think about it and would let them know since they don't seal the same day as they wash anyway. (I decided to have a neighbor do the sealing part.) We scheduled the washing for 10:00 a.m. today. I had cleared all the furniture and plants off my decks and closed all the windows in preparation. When they hadn't arrived by 11:00 I called and left a message on the machine. At noon I did the same. At 1:00 I finally reached the owner. He thought that when I said I would let them know about the sealing part, they thought I meant I would let them know about the whole job. I thought I was clear that we were scheduled for 10:00. They apparently misunderstood. At first he said he was willing to come later in the week. I asked him why no one returned my calls to explain why they hadn't come. A simple explanation would have sufficed. His exact words were: "Get yourself somebody else to do the job. I'm not going to do it," and he hung up on me before I could say anything else. It was very rude, and the motto on their business card says "Where customer and quality comes first." This company has signs all over the area saying powerwashing for $325 and listing an 800 phone number. Last week a few new signs appeared saying powerwashing for $299 with a local phone number. I checked, and both numbers are for this same company, so he's competing against himself.
