He never sent an estimate like he said he would. He didn't call us back - we had to call him. He told us that his kid was sick and he couldn't do the job. Months later I saw him at Lowe's.
Description of Work: We hired him to come and give us an estimate. He came and showed us his military records, which was to ensure us of his character. He never showed me anything related to carpentry work though.

Response from JKK Contracting LLC
It is unfortunate that the individual who posted this comment felt the need to do so, but since she did I feel compelled to reply. First and foremost, I was not "hired" to give an estimate. All my estimates are freely given on my own time and at my own expense. And as a small business owner I can tell you that free estimates are not truly free...they come at a cost to the individual giving the estimate. Going to the estimate (where many of the prospective clients fail to show up) is time that is not paid for, gas, mileage, wear and tear on the vehicle, time that is put into compiling a materials list for the project in question, as well as typing a tailor made contract for each prospective client. To say I was "hired" implies that i failed to render a service that was paid for. Simply not the case. Second, just like prospective clients have the option of accepting or refusing potential contractors...contractors have the option to not follow up on a prospective client. As small business owners in a difficult economy, we have to be wary of any individuals who may scam us or unneccessarily write negative comments which my adversley affect our business and therefore the way we feed our families. Third, just like prospective clients have lives, families, budgets, concerns...so do contractors. At the time of this individuals request in 2011, I and my family...believe it or not...had a life with concerns. Our area was pulverized by hurricane Irene for which I was acting in the capacity of volunteer firefighter and serving my community where many residents were left without power, water, food, or a place to live, and during which my wife went into labor. Following a complex labor in which we almost lost our new borne son and my wife almost had to undergo emergency surgery, my wife was in and out of the veterans hospital for a few weeks with a potentially life threatening condition. While managing a small business, raising a child and a new borne infant, worrying about my ailing wife, I had to make the decision whether or not to pursue any additional projects. Becuase of my CHARACTER and my INTEGRITY instilled in me during my military service, I opted not to take on this individuals project as I did not feel in good conscious I could give it the attention it deserved. The negative post that I responded to was completely unneccessary and the individual who posted...not haveing the entire story and all of its extenuating circumstances...should be ashamed of themselves. Ashamed of themselves for trying to damage the reputation of a small business owner trying to make ends meet in a tough economy so that he can feed his family. If the individual would like to level any other shallow and empty accusations at my company I will be more than happy to entertain them. I always give my clientele the utmost respect and best service I possibly can, as their happiness feeds my family. And NOTHING is more important than my family.
