We contacted owner Nicholas Miller on the strong recommendation of a friend, for whom he had done similar repairs also on an older home. Mr. Miller impressed us from the outset as an honest and competent tradesman, familiar with the construction issues in a home the age of ours and in the carpentry trade. He worked hard and very efficiently; the projects moved much faster than we had expected. He used quality materials and his craftsmanship was excellent. Nicholas sought our input on decisions appropriately; we felt respected and that our best interests were always foremost. He was an absolute delight to work with; we recommend him highly.

Nicholas is a perfectionist. He arrived early in the morning and worked all day. He uses good quality materials and the deck turned out great.

Nicholas was prompt and respectful of space during covid-19 during his estimate. He mostly discussed what he would recommend to my father and later emailed us an appropriate estimate. Later my father requested the whole deck be repaired where the previous builder messed up and the increase in price from Nicholas was very fair and respectable. He was clean when he finished the job in just two short days and we were happy to have hired him.

I am in love with my new kitchen. Nick did an amazing job opening up the space by knocking down the existing wall and setting it. His carpentry skills are superior. He built and installed 3 L-shaped shelves in place of a cabinet and it's so pretty I can't stop staring at it. He also replaced a faulty stairway on our deck and installed a wooden beam in our kitchen. He rolled with the many changes that my husband and I came up with during the project and was always willing and able to take on the new projects and ideas that we had.

Nicholas was such a pleasure to work with. He was personable, extremely reliable, on time, and delivered exactly what was discussed, if not more! He has a very good eye for design and aesthetics and made some great suggestions for how to build my front entry. He also is a very experienced carpenter- all the materials and craftsmanship are top notch. I definitely felt like I could trust him - his work and his word - and didn’t feel any stress. His pricing is reasonable as well.

I have been in the construction business all my adult life and i was prepared for the many small and large disappointments that come with most small contractors. Nicholas completely surprised us as he surpassed even our most optimistic expectations. Great quality, good price, timely delivery, good design ideas to supplement our ideas, and very pleasant to have around. We have had many compliments on his work and would definitely use him again if the need arises.

I would highly recommend Nicholas. He is very professional and nice to work with. He is punctual and works to a high standard, I plan to use him again for any carpentry work we need. We removed an old (large) microwave from a custom made kitchen cabinet. We bought a new smaller microwave and wanted to the new microwave to look as if it was in a custom cabinet too. To do this required custom-making a wood frame to go around the smaller microwave. Nicholas selected the type of wood to use (not the one I would have thought of), cut the wood, installed it and stained it. This was a tricky/fiddly job from my perspective but he got it down without fuss.

Nicholas did a surgical rebuild of one cabinet without damaging the surrounding cabinets/walls. He was on time, professional, and overall did a wonderful job. I highly recommend him.

Nicholas was very responsive : reaching out promptly after I emailed him, coming by to look at the work needed and providing an estimate promptly via email. When I decided to engage him, he quickly scheduled an appointment as showed up on the date and time agreed upon. The day the work was completed he worked efficiently and cleaned up well after he was done. Nicholas was very knowledgeable about woodworking and attentive to details like bringing the wood over for the mantle a few days in advance of installing it so that it could adjust to the room temperature. On the cabinet shelving that was shaky as a result of my last move, Nicholas was the only vendor that came up with an easy solution of replacing with single glass panes vs 3 piece panes to improve the stability. His pricing was about the same as others: I was totally satisfied with the value provided.

Nickolas provided excellent advice in choosing the right deck material. The work was completed in a timely manner. The deck looks beautiful and I would highly recommend this contractor.

one of the best experiences I ever had with a contractor. when I found Old Country Carpentry on Angies list through a search I messaged them the issue inquiring as to whether it was work they did. within 10 minutes I received a response and within the hour of me sending photos and measuring the peace I received an estimate of cost and a date for them to come within the week. phenomenal and he showed up ahead of schedule and completed the work quickly and ensures everything was kept clean in area of work. true craftsman.

He gave me like a lot of first time homebuyer type of advice like things that I didn't know and things I could do. Things that I can ask my roofer to do to my roof to save money and like you have to do this much, not all that other stuff they're going to get you to do, which turned out to be true.
