FLOOR MASTER

Everything went very well...the floor looks beautiful! I'm so pleased and so is my tenant. The whole apartment couldn't be done because the bedroom and office were already set up with furniture and it would mean taking furniture apart after it was just put together. John and his crew were able to show me samples of stain and they got it pretty close to the rooms that were not done. And John suggested doing saddles so the transition between refinished floor and untouched rooms wouldn't be so apparent. I'm a stickler for detail and I'm very happy. Someday I will do those rooms and use John. I highly recommend Floormaster...John and his crew were very professional. A+++

The workers were pleasant, courteous, and efficient. There were no surprises with the pricing, and they provided help to move some heavy furniture.

They did an amazing job. The owner John even called me two weeks after the work was finished. He wanted to make sure we were Happy .

After getting quotes from several vendors for removing remaining carpet on stairs (as well as staples and tack strips everywhere else that I wasn't able to do on my own), plus staining and finishing the floors at my old house that I'm about to sell... I was really glad I chose Floor Master to do the job. The owner, John, was very easy to work with and very straight-forward in his dealings with me, unlike one of the other two vendors I had gotten quotes from. John's price was reasonable and included all the work that I needed done. One vendor I had gotten a quote from charged extra for everything, like using "dustless" equipment and would only put on two coats of finish (vs. the three that Floor Master provides). The other "dishonest" vendor offered me a $500 discount if I made a decision right away, but then I found out that he wasn't including the staining and some minor woodwork to re-attach a banister, which together wood have cost me $800 more. When you get quotes from vendors, be sure to carefully compare what you're getting -- a lower price on an incomplete quote doesn't mean you're going to get charged less. In my case with Floor Master, I got the best price and the best service. The floors look great, and I expect they will help to sell my old house quickly!

He gave us the fair and realistic cost. My past review should be ignored as that was an error due to Angie's List and called to have it removed. This company is very professional and takes their career, clients, and reviews very seriously.

The crew were wonderful. They were punctual, profession and tidy and did a tremendous job.

John did a careful review of our needs. His estimate made sense. In the end, we decided not to have the work done by anyone, given the state of our floors and the likely disruption of our lives.

Our floors look amazing! Tony and his crew were extremely pleasant and professional. The work was done with minimal dust, there was no obnoxious odor from the stain. They moved our furniture and put it all back in place. We are extremely pleased with the completed work! Thanks, guys!

John Settle has a great company. Prompt, quality work at reasonable prices. They did the work while we were on vacation and moved & reset all the furniture with no problem. We arrived home to what looked like a new apartment. Wonderful job.

They were great. On time and on budget. Our floors look great! We agreed on a price, and John (And team) went above and beyond for us. They removed our old carpets and 4 days or so later, it seemed like we had new and different house. Very responsive and did what they said they would do.

For a job that my local contractors refused to do, Floor Masters came right out, gave a fair quote and did excellent work. Finished on time with zero cleanup on my end. Highly recommend and will use again!

I highly recommend John Settle and Floor Master. We chose him because of his experience and professionalism given the challenges posed by the layout of our floor. Other people seemed to believe it posed a challenge and were unsure how to handle it. John looked at the space and immediately discussed how he would handle it and gave us comfort. The initial plan was to get rid of carpet, laminate and other flooring that was covering underlying hardwood, refinish the underlying hardwood, and install new hardwood in areas that had no underlying hardwood. During the demo, John and his team showed us that the underlying hardwood was damaged, which is probably why it was covered up in the first place. We decided to go ahead and replace everything with new hardwood. Even with the increased size of the project, John was able to finish on time. I'll also note that he was very good at cleaning up. Floor Master was great throughout the entire project. John and his team were very accessible and made everything simple to understand. We are very happy with the result. He is someone who cares about his work and pays attention to detail. We highly recommend him.

They did a fabulous job. The floor looks better than it ever has. John the owner was always prompt in returning my telephone calls. He set a date for the job and he and his crew were on time. The job took 3 days to complete. Each day the crew arrived at the time we agreed upon. They were very friendly and competent. They were neat, each day they cleaned up before they left. I have some additional work to be done in other rooms in my house. I know I will be calling them back to do the job. Do not hesitate to call them if you need work on your wood floors, you'll be happy you did.

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY!! After reading all the extremely positive reviews on Angie's List, we set up an appointment with Floor Master. We deliberately asked him to be the last of three estimates so that we could compare him to the competition. John Settle came out first in every way: he promptly returned my phone call, he came on time to review the problem and give an estimate, his knowledge of wood floors was tops, and his estimate was the most reasonable of those we got. John's two extremely experienced wood experts did a superior job refinishing the floor in every way too: they also arrived on the dot, were very pleasant, very knowledgeable, carefully used plastic tarp to protect our kitchen appliances and cabinets, did a fabulous job in repairing the floor, skillfully installed new wood to replace the damaged wood, sanding the entire floor, installed three coatings of semigloss polyurethane, and cleaned up after them selves every time they came. We will certainly used John Settle and his very skilled artisan at Floor Master next time we need to refinish our wood floors. He is the best! Refinishing wood floors can be very nerve racking dealing with dust; but by using Floor Masters, it was pure joy and afterwards the floors look like new. Thank you Floor Masters!

The owner came on time to give an estimate. He recommended stain color that would go with staircase wood railing and entry way floors. Workers came on time, and cleaned up at the end of each day. Dust was minimal and finished floors look great. There was a small issue about a section of the step that was hand sanded and the stain had not taken. The owner made sure that this issue was fixed. We did the job around Thanksgiving and the workers came the Friday and Saturday after the holiday. I would highly recommend Floor Masters.

We just bought a house with 60 yr old hard wood floors in need of some serious care. John and his team did an outstanding job, making the floors look brand new. He and his crew were very professional and the quote was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Floor Masters!!

Workers showed up on time. They were polite and efficient. The crew answered our questions and John the owner is old school in that he takes pride in his work. He is eager to please his customers and careful about the services he provides. This is a great company with a fair price if you want your wooden floors taken care of.

John and his team were great to work with. From beginning to end, John was responsive and helpful. He checked in regularly on our progress, he worked around our schedule, and he spoke with us about our concerns and questions at each stage. Tony did all the rip up and his installer and stainers all arrived on-time and did fantastic work. John was able to work with us on price when we arranged to have a dumpster for rubbish removal, and he was willing to wait for us to try to do as much rip up as we could muster. I am very happy with the floors and the service I received, and I would recommend Floor Master without hesitation.

They smoothed out the floor and gave a fresh coat of protection.

It took really fast to get an estimate and schedule a date to scrape the floors, even tho it was for a really small job. They did a beautiful job. I was so worried the color and finish wont come out as I hoped, but with their recommendations it came out even nicer than I expected. The house was also left very clear. I would definitely recommend them. I will also use them when I need to redo the floors in the rest of my house.

I can't say enough positive things about this company. The crew was prompt and hardworking and did high quality work and were always careful to properly clean up. John the owner was reachable and easy to work with. I especially appreciate the fact that John personally took a significant amount of his own time to size and install flush hardwood floor vents that we decided to go with after the project had begun. I highly recommend this company.

John, owner responded to my phone call within 24 hrs of inquiry. He then came to the house and gave free esimate of job including materials and labor within a day. Satisfied with his pricing, we agreed, and John came to the house with samples I believe within the next week and we decided on flooring material. The oak flooring was delivered within another week and the following week it was installed. I believe from begining of initial contact to completion it took only 3 weeks at max. for the project to be finished. His crew showed up on a Monday to remove the old flooring and this was no easy task; and the floors were finished by thursday. They cleaned up, kept dust to a minimum and removed all old materials. The final price was only a few dollars more than originally quoted but that was because of transitions that were not in orginal plans and definately resonable. I look forward to having Floor Masters refinished the rest of my hardwood floors when the time is right. We love our new floors and are very pleased with the service we recieved.

I recently underwent renovations on my home in Rockland County, NY, and contracted Floor Master to install new hardwoods over concrete in one room, replace existing hardwoods 2 others, and to refinish a stairwell, hallway and a bedroom on my second floor. The owner, John, arrived on time for our initial meeting, and gave me a fair estimate for the work. After we scheduled a date to begin the work, he allowed us to move the start date back as we had other renovations which were running over the targeted timeline. The Floor Master workers were all courteous and professional, and did their best not to take over our home, which is no small task if you have ever refinished/replaced floors. They even worked around our schedule with furniture movement (it got a little tight). The crew was able to complete the job in the 2 weeks that John estimated that it would take, and we are very happy with the results. The craftsmanship was excellent, and I would strongly recommend their work to anyone interested in replacing/refinishing their hardwoods!
