Description of Work: I went to the Home Show at the County Center in White Plains specifically to speak to contractors about installing a driveway on my property. I stepped by their booth and had a very nice discussion with their office manager and she assured me that Empire would be able to work with me on my driveway project and we discussed possibly a roofing job as well. I gave her my number but didn't hear from her so I called to set up an appointment. The owner came to my house and I found him to be very condescending. We discussed the driveway briefly but he was more interested in my roof and I told him the driveway was the priority. I gave him a copy of the plans and he said he would call me. I have a very busy full time job and work on-site at a client where my cell phone doesn't work and I can't give out a work phone number. He tried calling me several times and I returned his call several times. He then left a message saying he was on vacation and would call me the following week. Once we did finally connect the only way he would give me an estimate would be for me to go to his office -- again, not very convenient due to my job. I asked why he couldn't just send me his estimate as the other contractors did and he became rude and belligerent and said this isn't going to work out, go find someone else! I asked him to send back the plans because they cost me money and he still has not given them back to me! He is very rude and I would not give him any business!

 + 0 moreThe first problem was that the crew showed up a day early, when I was at work. I specifically said that I wanted them to arrive on a Thursday or Friday (my days off). The second thing was that they stepped on & broke a very special cactus plant that was growing next to the sunroom. The third & most important thing was that they never set up scaffolding, never taped off the areas not to be painted & never washed the roof panels before they applied the regular flat roof paint (not elastomeric paint). They also got silver paint all over my brick patio & outdoor rug. When I arrived home from work & saw the horrendous paint job, I called the contractor. He assured me that everything would be fine after the second coat of paint. It wasn't. The contractor kept calling me asking when he could pick up the $750.00 balance. i told his office manager that when the job was completed to my satisfaction, he would get the balance. He then called me & said to just deduct $150.00 off the original quote of $1,500.00 & we'd call it even. My beautiful sunroom is now an embarrassment. I called in several people to check out the 'job' & was told by two former painters, that the paint would probably not last throughout the winter being that it was painted over dirt & bugs. I am currently waiting for a response from a local consumer protection organization.
Description of Work: Needed to have the polycarbonite roof of my sunroom painted with an elastermic paint to reflect the sun & make the room usable in the summer as well as the other seasons. I was quoted $1,500.00 for a professional job.

 + -1 moreTHEY DIDN'T INSTALL THE SIDING PROPERLY. THEY HAD TO COME BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO FIX IT. THE EMPLOYEES WERE HARD TO WORK WITH BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.
