The new furnace install went very smoothly. They showed up when promised and were very neat and pleasant to deal with. Problems arose when any type of follow up was required. Following the install we had a few minor issues and while the techs would come out when promised, in the several times that follow up was promised, not once was it done. Whether it was a promised return to double check something or a promised follow up phone call - it never happened. You start to feel that the very friendly tech would say anything to get out of here. Three times I was told that the office would call me the next day and never a call back. (Even when I joked with the techs that I've been forgotten in he past and assured it would not happen again - yep, happened again - no follow up). A month or two after install I noticed hat the furnace was refilling frequently. Being in a home new to us with a new furnace, I had no idea of how often it should be refilling - even he Internet couldn't give a satisfactory answer. I called Yost and explained that I just wanted to ask a technical question, I was told that only the service manager could help. After several messages left, a week gone by and a furnace who's 2-3 hour refilling was becoming like fingernails on a chalkboard, we contacted Yost's president - who may have gotten his position because in our experience he's the only one there who returns phone calls. The next day the service manager was in my house and in about 5 minutes said, yes there must be a pipe leaking under the floor. He spent about a half hour going over the two options. 1 - run a pipe along the baseboard around our finished basement and then through the garage and back into the furnace room, or 2 - jackhammer the concrete floor and run the pipe parallel to the broken pipe. Either way would be $2500 and they could start tomorrow. We opted for burying the pipe under the floor. He told us that the job might go into a second day. This took place on a Thursday, my wife and I were both off Friday, but we were both working Saturday. After a few minutes we assured the manager that we could have one of our family members there Saturday so they could finish the job. Friday when the 3 man team came for the job, the lead tech spent the first half hour trying to find another way to run the pipe. He went through all the routes the service manager went through the day before. He then informed me that my basement floor was concrete ( yes, I know) and that it was a big job that would be very expensive ( yes, I agreed to a price yesterday). Are you starting to understand that communications is NOT Yost's strong suite. Did this crew leave the office and not know the job they were going to? They had 3 workers and one jackhammer, so progress was slow. (As I type this I'm having work done on my sidewalk - 4 workers, 3 jackhammers and they're flying!) The lead tech said he called for another jackhammer and about noon it arrived - more about that in a moment. When a gentleman I believe was the install manager, arrived with the hammer he told me that they wouldn't finish today. I told him that we've arranged for family members to be here tomorrow (Saturday) and he bluntly said, "No, we don't work Saturdays, they'll be back Monday." I was dumbfounded! Just the other day, in a face to face conversation with the service manager, we told him we'd make arrangements to have family come by and he never said that they don't work on Saturdays. By the way, I'm assuming with all the jackhammering, the leaking pipe has now worsened to the point hat he furnace is refilling every 5-20 minutes - that's actually timed, not speaking figuratively. The techs had to hear it, working right next to it, but this almost constant filling, heating, leaking under my house repeatedly - for the entire weekend - was not enough to warrant having them finish the job on Saturday. Regarding the additional jackhammer, it arrived in a large black plastic case and was placed to the right of the furnace and remained there - unused - for the rest of the afternoon. It was only touched when they picked it up to leave at the end of the day. After a days work they had 3/4's of the trench dug. I think it's very reasonable to think that if the techs came, knew the job they were doing, brought two jackhammers and got to work, there was an excellent chance that they would have finished that day - and if not, and the furnace is refilling that frequently, you must come back the next day - yes, even on a Saturday - and finish the job. (Or don't START a two day job when you don't work the next day!) So, as you can see its very tougher to rate this company because they're so uneven. The techs show up when promised and do good work, but follow up is poor and there is definitely a major breakdown in an office where techs are sent out, seemingly unaware of the job they're to do. The poor Responsiveness and Professionalism ratings are a direct reflection of the unreturned calls and confusion and aggravation regarding the pipe replacement. Do they do good work - yes, BUT, you might find yourself doing quite a bit of work to get the job done.
Description of Work: Had a new furnace installed and several weeks later had a broken return pipe to that furnace replaced.

This job made us to take a long look at the way our office runs and forced us to make some difficult decisions in order to improve things. Unfortunately sometimes it takes some mistakes on our end to realize you need to make improvements.

The technician came out the same day the call came into our office and correctly diagnosed the problem that could be potentially dangerous (fumes spilling back into the home). To be honest I am not exactly sure what we could have done differently to get a better grade.

They came promptly to first attempt to repair our broken air conditioner during the July heatwave and then provide an estimate after it was determined that the existing system could not be repaired. They provided a reasonable estimate, agreed to start the work quickly, completed the work ahead of schedule and prepared the necessary paperwork for the Con Edison applications to obtain rebates.

They have a contract to service the boiler in our home. We needed to get them to give us quotes on replacing baseboard heating in a couple of rooms and to check on some ventilation ducts. We were told at least have a dozen times that we would need to speak with Gerardo and that he would call us. Six messages have been left for Gerardo, but he won't return our call and Yost and Campbell insists he's the only person who can help us. We are worried what might happen if we need service on our boiler. Hopefully, Gerardo won't be the person who needs to do the work.

Our pilot light for our boiler kept going out due to water/condensation dripping on the flame and putting it out. We called Yost and Campbell for an estimate on repairs and arranged for a technician to examine and quote repair. The technician Brian was prompt and good natured especially dealing with our excitedly barking dog. After examining our boiler he had some bad news for us. He said that the boiler was cracked and leaking water and pressure and needed replacing. The boiler was 30 years old and at the end of it's life but we were hoping to have it last 1 more winter. We asked for a quote on the repair and Brian said he would have his boss Kevin come over the same day to offer us a quote. We paid for the service call but was told they would credit the amount if we decided to go with them with purchasing and installing a new boiler. Kevin arrived later the same day and reexamined the boiler and gave the same prognosis. He recommended that we not use the boiler very often due to the chance of a gas leak until the new one is installed. We asked Kevin about also installing the new Nest Thermostat and he said he would email us a comprehensive quote when he got back to the office. He promptly emailed us a quote and we after some back and forth via email over the course of a week, we agreed on a price and scheduled a day when my wife would be home for the old boiler to be removed and new one installed. Billing was simple, the standard deposit of 50% to start and the rest paid when the job was done. They offered financing but we paid with credit card. On the scheduled work day, 2 technicians arrived promptly in the morning at 8:30am. We showed them access from the back where they can park their van and work. They spent most of the day working earnestly removing and installing the new boiler only taking a brief lunch. They were done by 4pm. Brian would arrive to install a part the other technicians were missing and also install our new Nest Thermostat. Everything was completed and debris were all cleaned up by 5pm. My wife and I appreciated that the work was completed all in one day because we needed someone to be home all day. They cleaned up the work area was and I was impressed with how neat and professional the plumbing and pipes had been put together. We would recommend Yost and Campbell for heating services and repairs. But I'm expecting to have years of trouble free heating with the new boiler.

We feel very confident with Yost and Campbell after today's first experience with them. Even though David was a little late for the appointment, he was well worth the wait. David came over to check our boiler. The sounds of our boiler are normal expansion and contraction sounds. There was also no backdraft detected and no rust from CO2 leakage. He also pointed out a small leak on our hot water tank (that we hadn't seen before) and encouraged us to keep an eye on this. David as very professional, friendly, and explained everything in terms that we could understand. We're good to go with our 30 year-old gas boiler. Thank you David and Yost and Campbell!

Yost and Campbell's estimate was the lowest of the three companies I contacted. They didn't try to upsell me on a more expensive model than I wanted. When it came time to do the job they showed up on time and were done in two days. So far the new boiler has been working great. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone that needs a new boiler.

The service rep told us that the unit could not be repaired and had to be replaced.. owner - Tom came out to give us an estimate which to date we are still waiting for even after several phone calls and emails.. They were super responsive until after they had our money - now try to get anything from them.

The owner came as promised, and provided detailed pricing. The job was completed quickly, neatly and professionally. The crew was respectful of their surroundings and did an excellent job removing the old equipment and installing new up to date equipment from a respected manufacturer. They left the place clean and laid protection for all the flooring while they were working and removing equipment. We will need to replace central air conditioners in the spring and will definitely call this company again. We would not hesitate to recommend them. We could not ask for a better experience!
Description of Work: We replaced our 2 old furnaces and ac coils (multi family dwelling) as well as any parts related to the old furnaces. This required removing very old equipment which can often be a problem. Pipes and parts were changed as necessary to accomodate the new equipment. They also provided a new thermostat because the old one was not compatible with the new high tech equipment and they did not charge for the new thermostat. They hauled away all of the old equipment.

I was very pleased with the response time and work performed.
Description of Work: I have a 2 family property in NYC and it has 2 independent boilers. One is a hot water unit, the other is steam. The steam unit was not working properly last season, so I wanted it checked out for problems before the heating season began. I also was looking for a reliable company for a service contract. The mechanic was prompt and found the problem right away. He corrected the defective stack switch and then cleaned both units. I signed for the service contract with them for the coming year.

From the estimate to the installation with the exception of a few misteps with the scheduling the process was smooth and stress free. The employees are friendly and professional.

Yost & Cambell was the 4th of 4 bidders who looked at and bid for this job. They were not the lowest bidder, but we had the confidence that they would do the best job, and we were 100 % right. They are a busy outfit and communication was a bit tough at times, especially getting phone or email responses, but we accepted those limitations and remained patient thru-out. It payed off, they did a first-rate job, on time and on budget.....and it was not an easy job. We had quite a bit of blow-in insulation they had to deal with and some pretty tight crawl spaces. We also had some specific demands and asked that the system be designed to have minimal visual impact on our house's interior spaces. They obliged us and we even did some of the rough-in and all of the finish work ourselves to guaranty this. It was a complex and unconventional installation for a Unico system, but the pay-off was huge.....a fantastic, high tech, extremely quiet, and almost imperceptible A/C and heating system. I also met one of the hardest working and skilled people I have ever met - their installer Juan Carlo. He worked closely with us on every room and every detail and he planned the whole job and layout (36 nozzles!!) in his head. He is a master and they are lucky to have him. They had their top supervisors check on the job every day and they took all of our questions and suggestions very seriously. They went far beyond what others would do in order to accommodate us. A great company and a great bunch of folks to work with. Stellar work, Y & C !!

We have a yearly service contract with them. If we do have any problems, they are supposed to get to us before anyone else. We are supposed to only pay for parts. I haven't had any problems with them. We had a problem with our system a few years ago and they came and changed the part. You have to call and make an appointment and they are always busy. They have to come out a few weeks later.

Please see my previous comment. It went extremely well and I would most definitely hire Yost & Campbell again. They are reliable, honest and do an excellent job.
Description of Work: I have actually used Yost & Campbell for several things. They performed an annual check up on my air conditioning unit this year. They confirmed that it was working well and I didn't need anything else. They also installed a Nest Thermostat for us. This was very cool! They had our old A/C thermostat removed and the new one up and running within an hour. The technician showed me how to use it and made sure that the app on my Smartphone and on my iPad was working and logged in before leaving. He was clean and thorough and I absolutely love the Nest (definitely consider this if you don't have one!)! They also recently installed a Generac generator for us. I run my business from home and couldn't afford to be without power for any length of time so I asked them to put one in. They came and installed the unit within a few days. They were on time, explained everything to us, they cleaned up and the unit is working wonderfully giving us peace of mind. I HIGHLY recommend Yost & Campbell whether you are doing a water heater installation, new boiler, new heating system, new AC, generator or Nest thermostat. They really are outstanding. I have referred them to others who have had the same excellent experience

I had water coming into my master bedroom from the attic. Craig identified that my primary tray was clogged which casued the secondary tray to overflow. Craig blew out the line and in addition identified a major issues with my primary pan, it was badly rusted. Craig removed the rust to the best of his ability. He identified that the secondary was not installed properly (years ago) and that caused it not to drain properly. He was able to fix this problem. The unit is very old and we may have to replace within the next couple of years. I will definitely consider using Yost for our new system and ask for Craig to be the installer. He was punctual, professional, didn't mind a ton of questions and was nice to chat with.

One of the owners came to my house; performed an inspection; and provided a written proposal by e-mail within hours of his visit. The proposal included various options and I called to discuss. The owner answered all of my questions and we came to an agreement. The work proceeded one week later. I was told that the crew would arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning. The van pulled into my driveway at 8:31 a.m. From begining to end, there were 3 to 5 men actively working in my house. They took a half hour for lunch. They did not disappear. If they needed something for the job, they called their shop and the item was delivered. The moment that the equipment was installed in my attic and they were ready for power, one of their in-house electricians pulled into my driveway. I was told that the job would take a week. They started on Monday and were done at lunch time on Friday. These guys are pleasant and professional. They are very respectful of your home and they do good work.

I’m very happy with their reliability. They’ve been very helpful. They even came out on New Year’s Eve one year. I would recommend them. The service charge includes the annual maintenance and some minor repairs, as long as we don’t abuse it.
