Yost & Campbell Heating & Cooling

They replaced my entire boiler system and thermostats, they also were able to set us up with 0% APR financing for 12 months. They were not able to finish the job in one day, and had to come back the next day to complete the job. There were no unexpected expenses, and all of the workers were very professional. As it turns out the man who gave me the initial estimate was actually the owner. Its nice to see an owner involved and working in his own business! The only complaint I had is that they accidentally wired the thermostat for two different zones incorrectly. (The 1st floor heat was being controlled by the 2nd floor thermostat, and the 2nd floor was controlled by the 1st floor thermostat.) But once we figured out it was wrong, they came back and fixed it right away with no charge and a sincere apology.

It went well, I observed condition of the boiler and decided to purchase a new one . The chimney repair was excellent with a life time guarantee. All done within four days.

Hurricane Sandy, in itself was a very stressful time... No lights or heat is enough to deal with. But when the lights came back, we discovered that a power surge had cracked my boiler and I had to start the search for a new one... Yost and Campbell, was one of the 4 companies I pulled up during my search on Angie's List and after researching and making calls, I settled with them... Their prices were very attractive and they seemed very personable.... You can only imagine how busy they were during that time. They tried their best and got me in the rotation. From the time of the occurrence to the time of installation was 3 weeks..

I called numerous boiler specialists and plumbers and all they seemed to want to do was replace my boiler, so I had Kevin come and give me an estimate (as well as every other plumber in town). Kevin understood my concerns and was able to send a technician to my house the next day to look at my boiler because I told him that before I agree to replace it, I want to know for sure what is wrong with it.The guy who came tested everything that could possibly be wrong, then he banged on the hot water cut off with a wrench and the boiler miraculously turned on because the float had been stuck causing it to automatically shut off. I had TF O'Brien come, I had Big Apple come, I had Serba, I had Vineski and I had a salesman from Sears. NONE of them seemed at all interested in fixing my boiler, citing the high steam leak in the boiler as what was wrong with it--though I told them that the boiler had been working last year crack and all and how could they know what was wrong without even turning it on! Not only that, these other guys came and overfilled the boiler--which, if it does have a slight crack in it but you want to keep it--is MORONIC. Good honest service should be commonplace, which is why I don't want to praise Yost too much for doing their job. But, if any of these other service people had been able to get the boiler up and running---actually get on their hands and knees and truly investigate and explain to me in a plausible way what was going on--I would gladly trust their suggestion that I get a new boiler anyway. As a woman, it's really difficult to find reliable service people who don't gouge you, lie to you or treat you like you are dumb. It's a sad state of affairs, but thankfully there are still some good people out there like Yost and Campbell.

Our old inefficient boiler heaved a sigh and went to that scrap pile in the sky. We shopped around for a new one, and settled on Yost & Campbell to do the work Their quote was the best by several hundred dollars, and as a bonus the work included a new hot water heater. The very professional crew showed up on time, worked all day, and left the basement cleaner than they found it. Everything is working like a charm. We weren't happy having to spend the money, but Y&C made the process painless. We look forward to lower Con Ed bills with our new, more efficient boiler.

My family have been Yost customers for years and I would never go anywhere else for my heating and cooling needs. We hired them to convert my parents' furnace and water heater from oil to gas. It's a big job, and the professionalism we've come to expect from Yost was delivered yet again. They were friendly when I got my estimate, arrived during the time we arranged, and the workers got everything installed in a timely and professional manner. Everything works great. So satisfied with them! They do a fantastic job.

It went super. He was a really nice guy. They were also very clean and did a job.

Got an estimate from Tom, who seemed quite personable and agreeable. Agreed on the spot to do the whole job (oil to gas conversion) and a new gas water heater. They fairly quickly set up an installation date which went ahead smoothly and in the promised 3 day period. The installers seemed competent and professional. Then the whole process fell apart. Within one day the water heater was not working. It took 3 service calls to get one hot shower and it still doesn't work as well as our old one which was 12 years old. They told me that's the best they could do and if I wanted hot showers I should turn off the washing machine hook up each time I showered. What?? I've never heard of such a thing. BUT the much bigger problems were with the conversion to gas heat. There is a lot of paperwork and things that need to get done in Yonkers (and I imagine all towns and cities) for this to all work out. (Oil tank removal, chimney inspection and cleaning, etc) No one explained any of that to me. So I figured it out when Yonkers sent me a letter telling me that my Certificate of Occupancy was being revoked because a inspection was never set up with the plumbing inspector. It took several phone calls and emails and months to get Yost & Campbell to set this up. THEN a Yost guy comes out to get the inspection done with Yonkers and tells me that they forgot to check for gas leaks which is supposed to be routine before any conversion is done. He said he could have Yost & Campbell do it in the next week but if they found anything they would have to start tearing walls apart to find the source. WHAT? So I agreed to have them come back and at least inspect it for leaks. And guess what ? That was 3 months ago and I never heard from them again. Con Ed has never been here to inspect the system because Yost was supposed to set that up as well. So now I am dealing with Con Ed directly. This was by far the worst home improvement experience I've had in 20 years of owning my house.I have a long e-mail trail documenting all this as well as the letters from Yonkers. As well as my phone log which will show not a single incoming phone call from Yost & Campbell except to set up the installation. It's been a solid year and this job is still not officially completed on Yost's end and it probably never will be because I wouldn't deal with them again.

He arrived within the time window that had been arranged and charged what had been agreed to. Spent time with the me in going over possible future work to the heating system as well as discussing maintenance issues.

Water heater busted Sat morning called Yost at 8:30am. Tech Jose showed up and hour after and had install complete by 4. Excellent work! Used them also in August to install new A/C condenser unit. Just an excellent company very easy to deal with

My experience with Yost & Campbell was so positive that it prompted me to sign up for Angies List and post this review. My elderly parents had a 50 year old furnace that was on its last legs. They turned it on this past week only to find that it wasn't working. Having previous experience with Yost I called them and they sent a technician that morning. He felt he could he could fix it but I felt it would be better to just replace the entire unit. They sent an estimator that afternoon who happened to be the owner and he couldnt have been kinder. He didnt push for most expensive unit feeling it would be overkill. The men installing the furnace did a beautiful job while being both clean and polite. The owner stopped over the day after to make sure my parents were happy with everything. Its nice knowing there are people and companies out there like Yost & Campbell.

HORRIBLE. I will never use them again & DO NOT recommend this company. It took 5 days for them to ORDER the replacement switch after my repeated phone calls. It took 6 days for them to finish the repair & restore my hot water. I was WITHOUT HOT WATER FOR 6 DAYS!!!! This was the WORST repair experience I have ever had.

Our existing air conditioning unit failed and we needed to replace that unit and our existing gas furnace. We brought in about 5 different companies to provide estimates, and we ultimately decided to go with Yost & Campbell. Because it was summertime, we had to move as quickly as possible. We dealt directly with Kevin, one of the owners of the company, and he was extremely responsive (responding to emails late at night on weekends even) and helpful. We wanted to install a high efficiency unit, but after they spent a lot of time examining our house to find an easy way to make it work, they ultimately suggested we go with a traditional unit, because it would otherwise result in having to have pipes run through one or more other rooms and/or cutting through floors. Refreshing to have a company push the less expensive unit because it was right for the customer. They did a great job with removing the old system, installing the new one and making sure everything was cleaned up. With two small kids in our house, we were very concerned with little pieces of metal cuttings being left around, but did not find any mess at all.

We had a two family house and their rates were reasonable.

After the initial bad experience with someone not coming out, they contacted me and one of the owners, Kevin, came out and was very pleasant. Thereafter the work went fine I was very happy with the job they did.

The job went well. They did neat work & had system up & running within a few days.

The work was done right on schedule. The workmen were efficient, courteous and professional. They worked extremely well as a team. The area was left in clean condition. There were one or two glitches after the workers left, but they were very prompt in responding to the problems.. I would highly recommend this company. Their price was very fair,.

The tech was friendly, efficient and professional. I called at 3 p.m. He showed up by 3:30 and did what needed to be done and left. I'm extremely satisfied.

Yost and Campbell removed the old combination air conditioner/gas-fired heating unit and replaced it with a high efficiency unit and air purification system. The job went as scheduled, over two days, and the system works well. Yost and Campbell cleared the debris and left the house clean.

I call them, they come, they do what they have to do and they leave. I have no complaints.

I did not get any report on the effieciency of the heating system The heating system was malfunctioning and he found out it was a bad motor. I ask him to shut the heater off and he said ok but did not shut it down. I had to shut it down myself. Ask for a proposal for heater replacement and never got it.

Took about an hour. The whole thing was done by noon.

Wow! The service, communication, and professionalism I experienced from Yost and Campbell from start to finish completely exceeded my expectations. The lady I spoke to on the phone was friendly and scheduled me an appointment very quickly. The technician was on time, professional, and very knowledgeable. The work was done in a timely and efficient manner, and everything works great! I am so pleased with this experience, and will definitely recommend Yost to my family and friends. I will be sure to use them again!

One a freezing cold later winter morning the hot water furnace stopped burning. So around 10am I started making calls all over the names on this site asking for price and when someone would be able to come by. Everyone else gave me appt for the next day, which was almost impossible as we couldn't stay without heating overnight. Y&C was right on. I told them the situation and the person that I spoke with told me that they'll stop by the same day, no matter what. She couldn't tell me what time the technician would come by, but he will be at our house the same day. I was worried since they didn't give me the time, but someone did show up and they fixed the furnace when we needed most.
