+ -1 moreI contacted the provider for an estimate to have tree pruned. I explained that I could not be home during weekdays and requested they come by my home and either call me when they were on my property. Or prepare an estimate and I could call and discuss the details once I received the written estimate. I waited over a week and had no response. I called again, and they did not seem to recall our previous conversation. Provider promised they would send the arborist by, but have never head back, no estimate, and no follow up.
Description of Work: No work was performed.

+ -1 moreIt went well until I was asked to submit live samples to Cornell for testing. I was promised twice this would be done. After waiting and waiting, I realized they had no intention of taking care of this for me. I paid over $1500.00, and I think it is not unreasonable to expect this would be handled appropriately.
Description of Work: Two magnolia trees in our yard appeared to be diseased. I called The Care of Trees. They recommended fertilizing and trimming the branches without leaves. I contacted Cornell Plant Diagnostic Unit. They suggested clearing pachasandra from the base of the trees and sending root samples for testing. The Care of Trees performed this work. I sent the samples. The response from Cornell was that the samples were dead. They asked that I resubmit live samples. I forwarded the email from Cornell to Brian at The Care of Trees. He replied that he would come later that week and try to get samples for me to send. He never appeared. After waiting several weeks, I contacted him again. He said he would come the next day. He still has not arrived. I feel the work was not really completed.

+ -1 moreOverall, the work turned out great. We have a contract with them. They are extremely educated about what they are doing and do a great job at explaining and if I have any questions, they come back out and will walk me through every plant in my yard to talk to me about it and tell me what it could use and what it might not need. Before we had them we had branches falling and a number of accidents. Since we have had them, they keep the trees trimmed. During every storm we are the only house in our vicinity that has not lost limbs. They are really good. We would continue to use them in the future.

+ -1 moreExcellent! Initial phone call to office was followed up by return call within 1 day by the crew chief himself. Within 1 week property was visited and proposal faxed. I accept proposal (very reasonable) faxed it back and work began within 1 week. Crew was knowledgeable, professional, and hard working. They cleaned up completely and hauled all refuse away.
Description of Work: Tree trimming and some removal. Hazard reduction, prior fallen limbs on sidewalk. Removal of unhealthy trees and limbs.

+ -1 moreNot a great start, but the follow up was very professional. They took the steps that were needed to resolve my concerns and I am happy with their work.
Description of Work: 10/28/2010 Update- After reading my complaint, someone called from the central office to apologize for the oversight and to ask how she could help. She and the local staff that followed up with me were very professional. The job was scheduled and completed within th month and I am happy with the results. 05/01/2009 - The guy came to my house and gave me a quote. Never came back to do the work. He also refused to return any of the 3 calls I made to his office.

The supervisor they sent out to give the estimate was clearly very knowledgeable, very professional....not just some idiot with a chainsaw...he knew a great deal about the trees, their health and appropriate care. He was very good at answering questions and explaining the work. The price we paid was not cheap and we may have been able to get it done for less, but we got what we paid for. It was done right the first time by someone who knew what they were doing. Overall we're very happy with the experience.
Description of Work: Three large trees trimmed. Dead branches removed. Crown reduction. Thinning.

+ -1 moreWe have some skepticism about how accurate the assortment the woman who came to look at these trees was. They are very expensive and I'm not sure how much longer we can continue to use them. We have used them for a number years.
Description of Work: We have some trees that looked like they were dying. The woman who came out assured us that they weren't dying that it was a phase that they go through every few years, that was an unusual phenomenon.

+ -1 moreThey are consistently below other quotes. They are excellent. They arrive exactly when they say they will, and do the work exactly the way they say they will. They clean up beautiful. I couldn't ask for a better tree company! Guy, in particular, is my contact & I am very satisfied.
Description of Work: I got their name from a neighbor. They cut down one of the largest Norwegian Spruce in the neighborhood as there was a huge storm and it was swaying in the wind and falling down. They got their guys up to cut it down. Another one had been struck by lightning and so they checked it & said there was a big possibility it was bad. They didn't push me to cut it, but I'm glad I did because they found out that it was split 4 ways.

+ -1 moreThey've done pretty well. I have no complaints. They show up on time, do the work and the trees are in good shape, so I guess they do alright. They have done some pruning and big tree work in the past that also seemed to go fine.

+ -1 moreVery good experience. Their arborist took his time sizing up the situation and had a quote to me within 20 minutes of the start of the estimating process. They were able to schedule the work fairly quickly and arrived on time.
Description of Work: I had them remove three trees, two of which were very close to our house. They did a great job, cleaned up and carted away all debris. I spoke briefly with them when they showed up to do the job, then went to work and when I returned home, the trees were gone, mess cleaned up and no issues with damage to any structures, wires (which were running through the branches of one tree), or to the yard and plantings.
