My mother's washing machine hose broke causing massive flooding in her kitchen, hallway & basement. The basement's ceiling was on the floor. This company was one suggested by the condo's insurance. (It was not their responsibility, but they were nice enough to send a list) We worked with Mitch Kaufman. Everything went SO smoothly. The arrived @ about 8AM & worked until 3:30PM with a 1/2 hunch. Very fast & VERY efficient!! The basement looked better than before the mess! Mitch hooked us up with a flooring company & had his men schedule their work around them. All in all, what was a VERY stressful series of events for my 88 yr old mother, was handled smoothly. She is extremely pleased with the outcome & would fully recommend R & N.

This was a contractor who was bringing in people. It was quite an expensive amount of work. I had workmen here in and out of the apartment for three months. It was all overseen by R & N Construction. The contractor came out in December to see what had happened and to see what had to be done. The work started in January and ended in March. I had new windows put in and the glass seals had broken and so they are putting new windows as well. A lot of the price was covered by insurance. There was nothing that I really did not like about their work. I have never had work done through a contractor and have had very little experience with this. I have heard all kinds of stories about people who hire contractors who go way over budget, they take longer than they say and they end up doing things that are not right and all negative stuff. From the beginning the contractor Mr. Mitch Kaufman came out and looked at what had to be done. He put a proposal together which he sent me. It was very detailed and it was a proposal that was detailed enough that I could submit it to the insurance company with exactly what he had to do. Basically his motto was in and out like let’s start now and let’s do it till it’s going to be done. The only reason the work took as long as it did was because of my schedule. I would say I might have taken maybe a month less but I had to move stuff out of the apartment physically out. I was doing it all myself so there would be a week when they wouldn’t be here because I was busy packing stuff up and moving it out. There were times when they wouldn’t be here because I was away. But basically they said what they would be doing and nothing ever deviated from the original estimate that they gave me. Over the course of time I decided I wanted some extra things like I wanted the window replaced and the cupboards put in which was not in the original estimate. So, they would tell me what it was going to cost. I never had issues with the cost or with the proposal or anything that was over and above what was in the proposal; they would cost out to me and tell me how much it was going to be additional. They were never any financial surprises. The workmen that they sent here were very skilled. They knew what they were doing. They were very trustworthy. I had people in my apartment when I wasn’t here and I was never worried about it. At one point I was going to be away and I gave the guys that were doing the floor who had to come back on a Saturday, I gave them the key. They were very cultural and neat. They cleaned up after themselves. There was no mess that they left ever. They explained what they were doing and if I had any questions they would explain things to me when they were working. They were working. The contractor Mr. Kaufman lives in Pleasantville usually stopped by; not every day but almost every day on his way home just to see what the guys had done. At one point in time they put new floor inches in the living room which had been more and more carpeted and underneath the carpet was basically concrete. I live in what was an old elementary school. It was built in 1923 so floor has basically concrete and they had to basically pound out the concrete. The floor went in and it didn’t go in properly and he had them redo the whole thing with no cost to me. He looked at it and said it was not right and he had them redo the whole thing. It couple of extra days time for this to happen. They were great. The guys that had to get the windows done were delayed by a couple of days because we had rain and they couldn’t do it while it was raining. Everything was according to the original cost estimates unless I wanted something different or in the case of the windows the weather got in their way. They were just fabulous. I have recommended them to other people. I found out about them by another guy who lives in my condominium for work he had to have done from damage during the hurricane. I am so glad he told me about them. I don’t think their prices were exorbitant and they use very good material. The guys would come and work. They were not sitting around and would take a break for lunch or something but they put in a full day’s work. It was really great.
Description of Work: I used R & N Construction for doing a major renovation work. My washing machine has been broken for a little over a year by now while I was away. So, a part of my condominium was fairly wet. I had to have a lot of work done just to repair things just from that experience. I also had additional work done while they were here because of the wetness in the washing machine there was a dry wall that had been cut and it had to be sanded. They repaired that and put new built in cupboards above in the loft for me. I had wall to wall carpeting they ripped off all that and put in wood flooring. They painted the whole place and did electrical work. They had to install a new bathroom vanity set and toilet. They put in a new door on the entrance of the apartment.
