Description of Work: Hurricane Sandy damaged my roof. I was concerned about getting someone out to do the work, considering the amount of damage in the area. Don came out to the house the same day I called and had a temporary patch put on right away. He not only returned to finish the job sooner than I thought, but charged me less than he estimated! He treated my very small job with equal importance as the many much larger jobs he had underway. I recommend him strongly.

Description of Work: Scheduled an appointment for multiple aspects of roof and chimney repair. Extensive conversation re work with Don. Never appeared or returned messages after initial discussions. A complete waste of time, effort.

Description of Work: The first project was replacement of gutters on the front of the house related to storm damage. Based on this service provider's recommendations 6-inch gutters and a superior gutter guard were used to replace less satisfactory 4-inch gutters and guards. Cost was higher than I had originally thought to pay but results were well worth the additional cost. Don Holohan also recommended copper strips near the roof ridge line to combat mold and lichen growth which was included in the price. Don became aware that I was planning to have the house and garage washed and painted and expressed interest in participating in the bidding which followed shortly afterward. Don's evaluation of the work to be done was thorough and detailed in writing. Three others bid and one of these also made a comparable high quality bid. My prior experience with Don Holohan and his lead painter was a winning factor and he was awarded the job. Washing was a major part of the project lasting almost a month and requiring complete removal of all prior paint from the cedar shake shingles. Painting followed after allowing time for complete drying. Per agreement high quality primer was followed by 2 coats of high quality stain. Shingles were replaced as necessary after being primed and painted both back and front. Trim repairs were made as required, including two window sill replacements. Again sanding to bare wood as necessary with priming and 2-coats of finish paint. Shutters were removed, washed, repainted and rehung. All windows were cleaned at the end of the painting as well as providing daily clean up throughout. The project also included replacing the remaining gutters and gutter guard on the back of the house and the garage.

Description of Work: We had very bad leaks, and water ruined our wood floors. Our roof, which was only seven years, was not put on properly. Suggestion: (No matter what people tell you, it's not a good idea to put a new roof on top of an old one.) The wood frames on the windows needed to be patched as the wood was rotted. There was also many other things he did, such as interior and exterior painting.

Description of Work: Removal and replacement of gutters and gutterguard damaged by tree falling against house.Prior to doing work, Don Holohan owner of BDW Roofing, surveyed the work to be done, recommended materials, gave options and provided detailed written estimates of cost and date and time when work could be done.Work was started as promissed, completed on time and brought in at a lower price than first estimated.Don also examined existing roofing, pronounced in good condition and made recommendations for moss prevention that would not damage the roofing.Very well satisfied with the professionalism, and quality of work done and will not hesitate to consider BDW for other services.

Description of Work: Don is true craftsman and meticulous with details. I hired him because of a recurring leak and was told by other contractors that I needed a new roof. I didn't think that was the case and was referred to Don Holohan. He inspected the roof and also went in the attic and found some nails that had raised up from the sun on one side and found that the prior contractor had reused old flashing which had holes in it and was leaking. I was amazed at how quickly he found the problems and solved them. They were also able to repair the inside ceiling and matched the plaster and color perfectly. They also rerouted gutters and downspouts for me that were directed around the foundation and were causing moisture in the basement area. The work was done promptly and efficiently and I really appreciated the prompt service and courteous respect of my house. It was a small thing, but they wore booty slippers over their work boots to insure my floors would not get dirty.

Description of Work: Where do I begin? I have never meet a contractor who is more knowledgeable, conscientious and caring about doing a great job for you. I have no hesitation in recommending Donnie. I have never met a person that works harder and is such a perfectionist. His guys know his exacting standards and do a great job.
