HOUSE OF STONE INC

Our contractor encouraged us to use House of Stone for our kitchen countertop purchase and installation and we agreed to patronize a local business. Unfortunately, the agreed-upon sink was not the one delivered and installed. We did not write down the sink specs after we made our choice in the showroom and clearly House of Stone did not either. On the night before delivery, House of Stone asked to be reminded which sink we chose. After the wrong sink was installed, our calls to rectify the situation were ignored. When our contractor eventually put us in touch with the unresponsive owner of House of Stone, the owner refused to acknowledge the error. His responses to our inquiries were overly defensive and extremely unprofessional. We were left with a basic sink that we did not choose and that was too small for our kitchen. They could not simply replace the sink. To fix this, we were required to purchase and install an entirely new countertop and sink. Under pressure from our contractor, House of Stone "did us a favor" and charged us "only" for material for this second countertop. House of Stone did not even give us a credit for the first countertop or wrong sink. We purchased a second sink at our own cost. Their error cost us about $1800 extra.

The work was not completed on time. The granite was much darker than we had chosen but we agreed to keep it. We were told that a product could be applied to lighten the granite and that they would do that for us. To this date, and after numerous calls,they have never scheduled that work to be completed. The faucet was installed incorrectly and we needed to correct it ourselves. When they left the job we realized that the dishwasher was never connected to the countertop and was loose. After missing two scheduled times we finally got them to come back and fix that problem. They never disposed of the old sink, we had to take care of that on our own We were very disappointed with the experience and quality of work that we received with this company. We would not recommend them and would never use them again.
