John Cox was the individual we contracted with from Pisa construction. He collected a $10,250 deposit from us and did not properly insure his insurance paperwork was filed with the city of Yonkers. This held up the installation of the pool and caused at least a 60 day delay. When the pool was finally installed, I needed to wait until we had an inspection for a gas line to be installed before we were to fill in trench where the paving stones were to go. John insisted on filling in the trench and it was up to us to reopen it when we were ready to install the gas pipe line. The delay was 1 week. I told John to have the paving stones delivered to my house for storage on my property. He refused. Then John decided to talk to my wife and tell her that he needed more money for the job - he wanted to collect an additional $6,000. He said he was sending someone to pick it up, so have it ready. My wife felt intimidated by this comment. When I told John we were not paying him another dime until the stones arrived, he said we would now have to finish the job in the spring, and yet he still wanted more money. At this point we would have paid him in excess of 80% up front prior for the job and he had yet to do any work. Upon inspection this spring by the Yonkers building authority, we were notified that we were not permitted to install any paving stone or patio based on the size we planned, and would be in violation of city ordinance had we did. We relied on John to know and understand Yonkers code when we hired him as the contractor, and he failed to do this. In addition, there was clear guidance and instructions from the city with regard to patio installations in excess of 200 square feet, of which he failed to tell us or else would have complied with. We were then forced to install dry wells and hire an engineer in order to get it right. John left our yard a complete mess for the entire winter. When I called him to say I wanted returned to me the $4,525 he owed me from my deposit based on the work he didn't do, he refused. I have now been forced to seek legal court action against him and his company for the return of my money. Do business with this company at your own risk. I will be glad to provide pictures to show the mess he left in my yard for the winter.
Description of Work: The provider was contracted to provide oversight and install paving stones around a pool being installed in my back yard. The original contract was to provide a copping around the pool with stones, then install a patio around the pool. The job was supposed to start in September of 2013 with the installation of the fiberglass pool. Pisa took at $10,000 deposit from me in August of 2013. Due to their lack of knowledge of the coding laws in my town, the pool was not installed until November of 2013. Upon a delay caused by the gas company, Pisa installed only the copping, then insisted on collecting more money from us before starting the paving. When we had an inspector review, we were not in compliance with the code. At this point we fired Pisa and asked for the balance of our deposit back. They refused. I had to file for an amendment to my permit and find another installer.

Some work done appropriately, most done poorly. Fernando, the owner would rather run from a problem than come back and fix it. I am the third person that I know of that is unhappy with his lack of response to problems with his work. There is no supervision of the workers. My driveway is less than 1 year old. It already has cracks, varies greatly in width, and is pitched entirely wrong which creates a problem especially in winter. In addition, the walkway is starting to separate. Run, don't walk away from this contractor like he runs from your problems after the money is paid.

Pisa Construction does not stand behind their work. We had a warranty that said that anything would be repaired if it happened within 7 years, but they are not responding to us. We spent $11000 when the work was done and we feel we have been taken. It's horrendous. My husband is so upset that he can't even talk about it. We are going to have another company do the work.
Description of Work: They had installed a patio and driveway a few years ago for us. Now the bricks have started falling off and the driveway is cracked. We contacted them about these issues and one of the partners came to look at it recently.
