I consider myself to be a demanding customer. If I hire a professional, I expect the job to be done perfectly. Hire Her Home Improvements exceeded my expectations. The basement came out beautiful. The project went extremely well. Angela, the owner, was involved in every aspect of the project. She takes pride in a job well done and goes out of her way to make her customers happy. I found her to be fair, honest and trustworthy in dealing with me. Overall, she is a pleasure to deal with. Angela's crew arrived when scheduled and put in a full 8 hour day. Their workmanship was meticulous. Angela was consistently inspecting the progress to ensure the quality of the workmanship was up to her standards. Angela's standards were even higher than mine. Hire Her Home Improvements is now my "go to" contractor. I am planning to use this company again in a major renovation project in the near future.
Description of Work: Finished basement and hung exterior shutters.

I got Angela of Hire Her Home Improvement's name from Angie's list. I'd never done anything like this before and was concerned about who I hired not only because I wanted good work at a fair price but I also needed someone who would take the job seriously and keep the bathroom functioning during construction as it's our only full bath in the house. Angela and her team were attentive and available whenever I needed them. They answered any questions I had and dealt with all issues that arose during construction immediately and to a positive conclusion. I felt confident in their work and found that Angela demanded excellence from her crew. If I was unhappy or concerned about anything, she made sure that it was addressed and taken care of. On the few days that I didn't see her, she insisted that I give her feed back on how everything went to insure that all was being done to her high professional standard. What I liked best is that Angela's main objective, besides doing good work, is that you are completely satisfied and happy with the work her company does. Even now, I know that she is only a phone call away if I have any questions. The remodel entailed a lot of work. To make it an efficient and attractive space, we moved everything around. All the plumbing had to be moved as well as joists replaced just as a starter. The bathroom got new sheet rock/plaster, lighting, fixtures, heating, paint, flooring, windows and finally tile. They did it all and it is absolutely beautiful. Angela (& her crews) gave me advice and suggestions when I needed them but didn't push their opinions. I had to often leave the house unattended while work was in progress and I even gave them a key to the house. I felt comfortable leaving the house in their hands and they never gave me any reason to regret that decision. Finally, as far as the estimate goes, I felt I was charged a fair price for all the work. There were no hidden costs that often creep in when quoted a low price. I paid what she quoted and that was it. I even bought an extra window and she had one of her crew install it without any extra charge. I need my kitchen done next and will definitely be working with Angela of Hire Her Home Improvement.
Description of Work: I had my bathroom remodeled. The entire room had to be gutted and built up from scratch. I live in an old house and am certain that nothing had been done prior so that everything down to the studs & plumbing had to be addressed.

Everything went fine. Communication was good throughout and Angela's carpenter, Selden, did excellent work. They also allowed me to negotiate a lower price when I said that I would remove the discarded materials. A very professional and pleasant team to deal with.

They came and made a very good impression. Their number was reasonable. They never followed up. I waited weeks for them to give the details behind the job. They didn’t have the decency to get back to me and give me the details so they held up process on the work and they didn’t have the decency to say they weren’t interested so I could move on. I liked them and I wanted to follow through with them. They should have had the decency to call back and explain why they couldn’t do the job. I tried contacting them multiple times and they never got back to me. I thought it was very unprofessional.

Bathroom - down to the studs. Reworked some of the older plumbing - Mike recommended replacing some older items as a preventative measure - and we absolutely agreed. I must say, my tiles were difficult, there were visions that I had - about how I wanted the bathroom to look, and Angela, and her team made it all a reality. Not only that - it was such a collaborative effort along the way - she has patience, good advice, and a wonderful competent team that really is the BEST in the industry. I'm so happy with the work!
Description of Work: Completely remodeled an old 1960's pink and grey bathroom. We went from functional to FABULOUS - with Angela and her team! We re-oriented the bathroom - got rid of the tub - put a gorgeous new window that highlights the shower.

Bathroom one; gutted down to the studs. Removed internal walls to open up the space from three separate rooms into one large space. Installed new plumbing and electrics to support vanity, toilet, bathtub, walk in shower with dropped build in tray (flat to floor level). All accessories installed including heated mirror, heated towel rail, underfloor heating. Fully tiled shower (floors and wall) and slate floor. Bathroom two; gut down to studs, removed bathtub. Installed new plumbing and electrics to support vanity, toilet, walk in shower with dropped build in tray (flat to floor level). All accessories installed including heated mirror, heated towel rail, underfloor heating. Fully tiled shower (floors and wall) and slate floor. Angela remained very engaged throughout the process from initial contact through to the final walk-through. The team she works with are extremely professional and made some great suggestions throughout the process. We were encouraged on a daily basis to call out if we were not happy with anything and they would correct immediately. They made every effort to minimize disruption in the rest of the house (all tools, debris etc. were tidied away each evening). In addition to the bathrooms being finished to a very high level, the team also installed new internal doors and hardware, refinished a couple of ceilings in other rooms which had been badly patched (by someone else) and installed new levers on the water tanks. These were all jobs that had been on our 'to do' list for a while but which Angela and team quickly and thoroughly completed. All in all, we really enjoyed this project and the process and are very pleased we didn't attempt ourselves. We now have two modern, contemporary bathrooms which are a fantastic addition to the house. The downside??.I think our dogs are missing the company they had every day during the project. Looking forward to working with Angela and the team on our next big project.

Except for a couple of times that Angela was not available, she was very, very responsive and responsible. I have to stress that the men she employs are all top-quality. They were very easy to work with, always showed up when expected, worked very hard and cleaned up carefully each day to minimize the mess. We have had renovations of various sorts done over the years (have two houses), but this was without a doubt the smoothest one by far. Demolition, tiling, electrical, plumbing, everything went off smoothly. We can definitely recommend Angela and Hireher.
Description of Work: We had two bathrooms replaced. Torn out, down to the studs. They are small baths -- the house is 1933 -- and the demolition was significant, what with plaster walls, etc..

The chain and spring mechanism on our storm door were broken and had to be reconnected to the door. Billy did this very quickly and obviously had a lot of experience. For the smoke detectors, he noticed that the screws provided to install them weren't very good. He found some better quality ones among his own equipment that fit - excellent idea.

I had emailed her and called her about coming for an estimate. I didn't hear back for 2 weeks. Then when I wrote or emailed again (I can't remember which it was a while ago) I did get a return call and when I called her back there was no place to leave a message. I finally got through to her and she came to give us an estimate. She was very nice, on time and had some great ideas. We were interested to hear what she would quote us on, but we never heard from her again. Or at least we never got the estimate. She did eventually write back to an email about an estimate that I had written 3 weeks before she actually came to give the estimate. In her email she apologized for the delayed response and wanted to set up a time to do an estimate, completely unaware that she had already been to the house. I was dumbfounded by the email. I have no idea how she can continue to be in business. It really was a shame because I wanted to know what she would have charged. But of all the contractors who came, she was the only one who told me "I was on crack, if I thought the work was going to be done by june!!" She was joking obviously, and was not saying that in a rude way, but It is june and we expect to be in the house in a couple of weeks. Maybe she is has too much business right now to be responsive to emails or phone calls, but to never give the estimate she took the time to assess is what bothered me the most. Maybe if she gets a good assistant or something her work would be great! I have no idea because we obviously decided to work with another company.

I had to wait a few days for Angela to respond to my initial inquiry, but after that she was responsive and came down from northern Westchester to give us an estimate. I liked her and felt confident that she would've done a very good job (she had a lot of good suggestions and really knows her stuff), but her estimate was simply too high - more than 3/4s of our entire budget. Maybe there was some miscommunication with Angela about the extent of the job, but the estimate that we went with was less than half of her price, and we know the contractor's work and are confident he will do a good job as well. Anyway, it's not that I wouldn't recommend her, because she seems like she does really high-quality work, but I think she's pricey.
Description of Work: Gave an estimate for a complete apartment kitchen demo and remodel, including removing a wall and radiator. The estimate was for all contracting labor, included plumbing and electric, but not cabinets or other materials. Entire project is within a 10' x 16' area, so it's not a particularly big project.

We had a leak from the roof in to the kitchen. Called Angela she came and gave the estimate. We had to wait for the roof to be fixed first, after the roof was fixed she had her guys there within the week. It took three days to plaster, sand and then paint. The guys were on time hard working and very professional. Overall the job was done very well. I would use them again, very happy with the work.

Angela came to my house to look over the work I needed, and to provide an estimate. She was very nice, clearly knowledgeable, and a good communicator. I liked her. The work would have involved the installation of insulation and drywall, installation of doors, and installation of flooring. It took a while to get her estimate, but when I did, I was really surprised; her prices were very high, I will be using other people for the work.

Very competent job. The security door was custom ordered and delivered late, which pushed the job back a week but not the contractor's fault. We had to re-schedule the work a couple of times due to conflicts which was annoying but not a big deal. The work was completed in one day and looks great.

Angela was prompt with all her appointments. She gave us a quote for the windows and worked with us to get the windows we wanted. We wanted brown exterior to match the style of our Tudor home. We replaced all the windows on the home to include two new installations. We have two dogs that here workers were most kind to and careful to not let them escape (they are wiley). From start to finish they did a great job. They were on time, clean and neat.

It went better than I'd hoped for: the cats never got out, the work was done efficently, the clean-up was first-rate, and I am a happy person again.
Description of Work: Angela and her team of professional "angels" transformed my kitchen and sunroom floors into a work of art. From her spot-on estimate in terms of how much material I would need, to the length of time it would take to "do the job right", she could not have been more accurate. Her Team arrived precisely at the time arranged, and they worked as I could only hope other contractors would work: a full day with only short breaks until the job was done. Billy, who is Angela's go-to professional, spent the day on his knees, and his efforts are more than visible: every corner, every fitting around old Victorian baseboards was done to such a high standard, everyone else who laid flooring before them was "bush league". As this was the third time I have employed Hire Her Home Improvements, I felt confident that replacing a one ton attic fan with two new windows would be "child's play" for her team. I was not disappointed. They have made all the difference in how the front of my house looks, and I could not be more thrilled with the difference. What I like best about Angela's (Hire Her Home Improvements) approach is that there is "never a problem". She will fix whatever is the issue. (Home Depot, Honey-Do-Men please take note!!) Angela, and her Team get an A+ for effort and outcome!

After a few years of trying to find a contractor to remodel our Master Bath I came upon Angela on Angie's list. I called her number and within less than a day I heard back from someone from her office. We scheduled an appointment for her to come up and give us an estimate for the job. Angela arrived on time, courteous, and professional. One thing that really stood out to my husband and I was that she listened to what we wanted and responded to our needs. She was very honest from the start that she would not be able to start the job for several months, which was not a problem for us. Within a few days we had an estimate and although she was not the cheapest, she was no where near the most expensive quote we had gotten for the same exact job, at that point we decided after reading her references on Angie's List again as well as calling one of her customers, we signed the contract. Since it was about 2 months before she was going to start the job we took our time selecting materials for the job. Luckily we had done so, because she was able to start a few weeks earlier than planned, which was wonderful, but unexpected. She offered to start another job to give us extra time, but there was no need. Prior to the start of the job our vanity showed up on the driveway, I called Angela and asked her if she could send someone over to bring it in the house. She immediately sent over Sheldon, who with a smile, helped me move the vanity into our garage. The vanity, which I ordered came broken in many, many pieces. Sheldon gave me the verbal support I needed when we called the company. The company did send a replacement with no questions asked, but it was unnerving to say the least.Within a few weeks they began the job. The first day they did a full gutting of the bathroom down to the studs, this included taking down a wall between my existing shower stall and shelving. They sheet rocked and made the necessary cuts to accommodate my new medicine cabinet.. While doing that they accidentally made a hole in the wall that went through to my stairwell and foyer. The walls are a rusty red and this was going to require a little more than just some paint. They fixed it like it never happened, and always with a smile. The plumber, electrician, tile, and paint guy all worked very well together. The first few days the plumbing and electric was taken care of, next the sheet rocking and then the tile started to be laid. There were a few other mistakes involving tiling and nails holes popping out of walls in other rooms, and once again they fixed everything with a smile. The first week they worked from 8am-4:30. They would leave my house each day like they were never there, so clean, it was very impressive. There really was no remnants of anything left in our house, not even dust. They would put all of the equipment neatly in our garage. We had no problem putting one of our cars outside on the driveway for as long as necessary, which was not long. After the first week the job was in spurts, each day someone would come, either painting, tiling, plumbing, etc. The tile guy, Jason, was very creative and made suggestions in a different direction to go integrating our large tiles for the floor with our small glass tiles. Michael, the plumber, did a great job except for one mistake that was also quickly resolved. Billy he was there for the demolition as well as some painting and sealing tile, was also a delight to have at the house. It was so nice to have everyone working in unison, that made a huge difference. Angela has a great team! She did stop by on many occasions to check on the job and at the end to do a walk through. If we had any complaints she was ready to listen and solve. Our Master Bath is now truly a sight to behold, we just love it and can't thank Angela and her crew for making it so painless.

Incredibly painless transaction. We contacted Angela who hooked us up with a carpenter. Selden came to the house and we explained the job. He showed up within a week or so and in 2 days we had a much needed rail at the top of the stairs and a much desired custom baby gate. Our upstairs landing is so small and it's really visible from the front door. We wanted a way to safely protect our toddler on the upper floor knowing that the gate had to be attractive because it would be installed a little longer than if it were in a traditional location. The configuration of the top floor makes it a little perilous near the top of the stairs for even us grown-ups! We do not want to be mistaken - This company absolutely gets a solid A overall. There were a couple of bummers though regarding price and little details. We tried at the time to push a little on price negotiation but in the end we didn't and that's completely on us. We got a quote from Angela initially but we never got an intemized invoice. Angela never came out to see the job and we found out later that we were one of maybe 2 or 3 jobs in many years that she didn't come out to meet. We supplied the balusters and felt that should have lowered the price a litte. The carpenter didn't have a critical piece for the base of the newel post and my husband supplied that as well. (I should backtrack by saying that my husband was going to attempt this job and had some materials when we realized it was more than we could handle.) Finally, the carpentry was absolutely impeccable but right at the end of day 2, we were scrambling for an idea for a latch. I wish that had been thought through earlier in the process and that the professionals had come equipped with suggestions. So, that too was supplied by us. These are all little things that I feel we could have talked out face to face but since we didn't have that opportunity we often wonder if anything would have been different - maybe, maybe not. Regardless, we smile at the railing literally every day and Selden did a remarkable job. Understanding that we would have to be more assertive next time, we would 100% use Hire Her again.
