TJL Landscaping and Property Contracting

It was a pleasure working with Matt. He got back to me in a very timely manner and explained exactly what was needed. He was punctual and his team worked efficiently and cleaned up after they were done. I would highly recommend him & his team. I look forward to having more work done by his company. Kathy Donato

Matt and Matt were friendly and professional from the moment they arrived to give us an estimate. They spent about 45 minutes to an hour talking about what we wanted and taking measurements. The job they did on our porch is of high quality and it looks amazing! TJL Construction is professional, reasonably priced in today’s market, and does high quality work. We were so satisfied we have hired them for two other jobs!

This is a reveiw from one of TJL customers.. They have impecable refrances one is from vergennes vt. They were contacted to do hedges and the customer couldnt afford the price to have them all trimmed and took away. TJL came and did them for only 50 dollars. The job was suppose to be 150.00 but was knocked down to 50 when TJL realized there were health issues with the customers. They even offered to just take a craft in the place of the 50.00... non of the above statements I beleive about TJL. They have over 300 satisfied customers and they have a refrances sheet to call any number of them.. They have my address and name and number if you contact them I would be happy to give a clear picture.

The provider did not complete the job, and the work the provider did perform was substandard. The provider was supposed to re-seed a small lawn, but instead, it merely re-seed some spots. And they left some areas without protective mulch. The provider was supposed to weed and mulch a small area. It left weeds behind. They were supposed to replace a basement window well cover, which they did, but did not clean out the space in the well. It was supposed to remove or cut some unwanted bamboo. It did not do this at all. It was supposed to put brackets on a fence. It used the smallest cheapest brackets available and on its invoice it represented that they cost $142. I went to Lowe's to price the brackets and found they cost about $20. When I asked them to change the brackets, they refused and told me that the fence posts were rotted and the brackets did not matter because the fence would fail anyway. The provider held itself out as professional landscapers that could also do fencing. It did unnecessary work that turned out to be of no value so they could charge for it. To put his in perspective, we worked with another provider on another property a few days earlier. That provider weeded a garden that was bigger than the entire property worked on TJL and put in nine yards of hemlock mulch. TJL put in three yards of topsoil and one of mulch. In other words, it did about one-half the work and provided half the materials of the other contractor. For this fraction of work, TJL charged more than 50 % more than the other contractor, who I would recommend highly. TJL worked for about four to five hours and then claimed that it had finished the job and wanted full payment. It gave me an invoice showing nine hours of work and explained that we owed it not only for time on the job but also for the time it took its workers to get to the job, four to five hours for each worker. In other words, TJL charged for as much time to get its workers to the site as they spent on site. We had an agreed on price to do the work. TJL did not do the work. Then it gave us an invoice for an amount almost $250 more than the agreed upon amount. Talk about chutzpah. In sum, TJL did not complete the work, and the work it did was poorly and unprofessionally done. I cannot find anything good to say about TJL. Please do not make the same mistake we did. Do not hire TJL for any job, big or small. It was unprofessional, incompetent, and unscrupulous.

They did a fair job of mulching and edging. However, we requested steel edging for the perennial border and instead they gave us a wire "stick in the ground" decorative edging. We emailed what we were looking for and never heard back.

BEWARE!!!!!! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!! They did a terrible job. The carpet was not installed properly. Matt Swan said he would come back and fix it but never did, and won't call me back. Even though they were paid in full, my fault I know. I have had another company look at the carpet,and they said that MATT SWAN and TJL Landscaping didn't even cut and install it properly at all. I hope everyone takes this seriously. Don't hire MATT SWAN or TJL Landscapping for ANYTHING.This is a $2000.00 or more mistake on my part. The plowing was terrible also, very small plow and never came when they said.
