A-1 All Counties Tree Service

Was extremely happy with the work that was done. September 2nd happened to be one of the hottest days of 2014. The humidity was brutal. It was 90 plus by 10 am. A-1 didn't rush the job. They cleaned up all of the small brush that had remained. Was asked upon if completion if the work was up to my expectations and if they needed to correct any issues. I had none. I thought the work was very professional. The workers were great and I have nothing but praise for the work that they did. They cleaned up out front were all the trees were chopped up. They cleaned up the fence line so that there will be no problems in installing my new fence. I'm not one to pay for a lot of services and contemplated doing most of the work myself all except for removal of a 40 ft tree. But after calculating various costs involved found that the quote given me was well worth the money and a great value. I would highly recommend A-1 and am very pleased with their work

On the day the tree was scheduled to be taken down 3 men showed up & cut the tree down & left it on our front lawn & asked for payment in full. They said that another truck would come to pick up the tree later. An hour passed & I called Chris, the person that I originally spoke to & he said they would be there soon. Eventually they came & removed the tree but were not equipped to grind the stump which was included in the $300.00 charge. I was told that someone else would be coming to perform that part of the job. Again, quite a bit of time passed & I called Chris to find out when the job would be completed & had to leave a voicemail. More time lapsed & he called to say they would be coming the next day. I wasn't going to be home the next day so I wasn't pleased. They came & finished the job the next day while I was at work & in the process damaged the curb with the machine. They literally ground down the concrete! Our roads & curbs were replaced 5 years ago by the Village we live in & I was furious. When I called Steve to ask him to look at the damage he told me to call Steve. I called Steve & explained the problem to him & he assured me he would come early the next day to take a look at it. He was a no show. I called & left a message; no response. My husband has called numerous times to no avail. The last message my husband left was that we were filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & still no response. I am a local real estate agent & get requests from my customers for recommendations for various companies & A1 Tree Service will not be one of them!

All 14 trees were removed with a pretty good price, the job site is generally cleaned. Some of the trees are pretty big. And I have the say the tree cutting parts are very professionally done. However, the stump was left on the lawn as they said they couldn't ship it out in time (it was 6pm when they are done), but the owner insisted to be paid in full and promised that the stumps would be removed the day after. Its a lot of stump that fills half of the front lawn, the sidewalk and onto the cu; de sac. Day 1, no one came. called the business and he said one of the trucks broke down and they are short of equipment. Day 2, called and he said the stump would be removed. No one came and someone eventually called me around 6pm and apologized and mentioned stump would be removed the next time. Looks like the removal is outsourced? Day 3, the stump were finally removed around 11am but a lot more shredded wood were left behind the lawn than I realize. I guess it's hard to complain about that part.

The work was not bad, but I did have to spend the whole day cleaning up. They cut the trees I wanted down, but the stumps were not done properly and removed properly. I felt like they took advantage as they were leaving early and not finishing within the time frame they had promised. They said that the gentleman that usually handles the stumps quit on the spot and that is why there was an issue getting that finished. They lied to us and strung us along. I think that until the complete job is done you should not pay in full, as they had agreed with in the beginning. Originally before all the stumps were taken away the man came to me and said the job was complete that he wanted to be paid. I informed him the grinding wasn't done and the stumps were not gone. He told me business was business and approached me again. I told him I would pay him half for half of the job being done and he kept asking for more money. I just do not feel it professional to act in such a manner when doing a job for a customer.

First of all, they came in $400 more expensive than one of their main competitors initially. They came down $200 more and I ultimately chose them in hope they would be more reliable and do a more high quality job. I was incorrect about this. The positives were the individuals that were here doing the work generally did a good job. They removed the trees safely and quickly and grinded the stumps and roots as I asked them too. The initial tree removal started on time when I expected it to. The negatives were pretty much the rest of the experience. I booked the date approximately a month in advance through the sales guy / estimator that came to estimate the job. I was never told what time they would come, so I called to confirm the week before the job several times. No one picked up, I left several messages and no one got back to me. Thankfully they were there first thing in the morning the date of my appointment, but the initial lack of communication left a bad taste in my mouth. The main issue I had is that they left all of the logs of the trees they cut down on my front lawn for almost a week, were impossible to get in touch with, gave me incorrect information multiple times, and then destroyed my front lawn when they finally picked them up. They left a huge gaping several foot wide hole in my front lawn when they picked up the logs. The best part is, 2 days later another truck came by to pick up the logs that had already been picked up. Clearly this company is not being managed properly. When I finally got in touch with someone several days later, I was told the reason for the delay in picking up the logs was due to their truck breaking down. Things happen, and I would have understood if they explained this up front, but they just left them there without telling me and lied to me multiple times about who and when would be picking up the logs. I can only think the reason for destroying my front lawn was some retaliation in pushing them very hard to pick up the logs ASAP. The fact that another truck then showed up a couple of days later to pick up the logs that they already had picked up shows their lack of management and coordination.

He did a fabulous job. They came when they said they would and called before coming to confirm the appointment. They are extremely reliable. I have used him in the past to cut up a very large tree that had fallen over. I would highly recommend him. He gets all A's in my book!

We would recommend them. They seemed good. We thought their quality of work was good. They came on time. We really had no problems with them. We will use them again.

My husband had the opportunity to see A-1 All Counties Tree Service work on another very large tree in the neighborhood. I called Chris at 516-216-2617 and received a prompt call back and estimate on the work that needed to be done. From start to finish A-1 was very professional. The appointment was kept as promised. His crew was extremely professional and courteous and explained everything that they were doing when I asked. The job took almost 5 hours. There was no damage to the property and they cleaned up beautifully. The price we paid was the middle price from 3 estimates. We know we made the right choice. We will definitely be calling A-1 back to do some pruning in the fall and will call them for any of the services they offer if needed. They were a pleasure to work with.
