Once again, Jason and his guys came through for us for an emergency situation. I noticed a small amount of mold growing on the ceiling above our shower. To me this was an emergency. Though Jason was fully booked up, he found the time to remove and replace the ceiling, install a new exhaust fan, and do all the associated repairs. As always, his team did the job quickly, were professional and neat. The work was top quality. I recommend Explicit Exteriors without hesitation.

Too bad I can't provide an A+ here. Jason and his crew didn't just "do" a job, they showed care about the overall aesthetics and direction of the work that revealed a genuine passion for getting things right, even when it created much extra work for them. Also, while many contractors in the area seem to have a difficult time with basic communication, Jason and Explicit Exteriors responded to calls, answered questions patiently, didn't assume I should be an expert, educated me on my options, and gave advice above and beyond the immediate particulars of the work.

Explicit Exteriors completed work on my home that included roofing, siding, flooring, windows, paint, doors, deck repair, septic repair and bathroom remodeling. This was my first home purchase and Jason and his team made the experience seamless. It can be stressful understanding how renovations work and figuring out the loan process. However, Jason helped in every way from getting paperwork done to being available for any questions throughout the process. Explicit completely transformed this home into the vision I wanted. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a company that does amazing work and cares about their clients.

Explicit Exteriors is without doubt a first-rate company. Jason and his team have seamlessly completed 3 jobs for us, both interior and exterior. They pay attention to detail, work cleanly, complete jobs in a timely manor, and are trustworthy. What sets them even further above most other topnotch contractors is that they are creative thinkers. One such challenge was finding the right design for a partial roof over our front door, one that blended with the existing structure. The design was perfect and looks as though it was part of the original design. I'm very picky and would not hesitate to recommend Explicit Exteriors for any of your upcoming jobs.

Early summer '18 a tornado came through my property on the river in The Catskills, dropping trees everywhere, including my roof... Jason and his crew stopped the flooding into my home (especially my office area) and fixed the roof in no time. Flash forward 2 years, (Sept '20) and I'm waiting for town to issue permits for a major home renovation that Jason and his crew are scheduled to do for me and my family. AND, he's a "Nice Guy" which always helps!!

Jason and his crew are the best! Their work speaks for itself! Before my project was even done my neighbors were coming over to drool! When you pay for services you want people that you can trust to get the job done and do it well! I definitely found that with Explicit Exteriors! Their work is not only gorgeous but neat as well. I had work done by TH Modeling that was sloppy, they came once a week, and that really scared me about going into construction again on my house. I’m so glad I found Explicit Exteriors! I’ve already booked them for a back deck and kitchen remodeling. Jason was incredibly responsive to all our questions before and during the project. His team worked fast but still took the time to cover all the little details to ensure the job was completed properly and above our expectations. There were a few surprises along the way and they resolved them quickly and without any problems. They also did a great job cleaning up each day and at the end of the project. I’d highly recommend them for any type of work needed and would hire them again.

This is our 3rd project with Explicit Exteriors. They sided our house several years ago and did some rebuilding of a porch wall. They installed windows & a slider last year. We have been very pleased with the beautiful & quality work they do. Jason is great to work with and will do everything he can to help you achieve the results you want. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a reliable, professional contractor who works very hard to please his customers.

It went very well as always. They came in the morning in a timely fashion, started laying down protection on the floors and hung plastic curtains to protect the rest of the house from dust. They cut out the damaged sections, inspected the framework beneath to see if the stud work was compromised or needed further drying out. When Jason De Groat and I were satisfied that it was good they proceeded with hanging the new sheet rock aprox 3 Boards and and taped and spackled. This is a very important part to me because if the taper is not experienced you could end up with wavy walls after the paint is layed on. They were dead on as always. They installed the moldings Primed and painted the wall .I provide the paint which matched the existing. They cleaned up the protection and were done. This was all in 4 days. I have also used Explicit in the past. They Added a 25 x 25 ft extension to my house with a cathedral ceiling and a 20 x 20 deck off to one side and a full height basement underneath that was a bonus. This room is now the envy of all my friends and neighbors and has really added value to my house,anyone that had never seen the house before say they can't imagine the house without it It is truly a spectacular room . They have replaced my roof , In 2012 when I had a house fire in my basement they were hired to do the restoration This included fire odor remediation, beam replacements, new boiler ,hot water heater ,well tank , water softener . They refinished the space better then it was before and created a beautiful man cave for me, they painted and even hung shelves for me and gave me pointers and worked around me when i decided to build a bar in one corner of the basement. They have also installed a bathroom for me Which has 2 entrances, one from the outside so it can be used by anyone using the swimming pool, this was Jason DeGroat's idea for cutting down wet traffic walking through the house to use the bathroom.Best idea ever . Their work is spot on and always professional and courteous. Any problems I had ,Jason always addressed them within a reasonable time and always called if he could not make it to an appointment and would reschedule with me.I would unhesitatingly recommend them to any one looking to have Quality work done to their home.

My fiance wanted the work done but after i met Jason, Rick and the guys i was very comfortable and anything i had questions about or concerns they handled and or explained it to me step by step.. Not to mention i know i was a pain in the butt, but its from past experiences with other contractors who i feel got over on me.. Jason made sure my fiance and I were more then satisfied every step of the way i would recommend Jason, Rick and the rest of Explicit exteriors to anyone that was planning to do anything involving your property.. Thats one of the perks of Explicit Exteriors is they do more then just improvements they build tear down.. I have so many jobs around the house i would like to do and Jason helped me estimate each job just so i could know how much to put away for each and not once did i feel pressured to buy.. Those kind of sales guys are another review .. Anyway i hope everyone the best i recommend Jason Degroat and explicit exteriors to all!!

Jason and his crew were among the most professional that I have ever experienced working with. Jason was knowledgable, caring, friendly and extremely easy to talk to. He had no problem answering even the silliest of questions that I had. His crew leader Rick was of amazing talent. And also just so pleasant to work with. Jason and his crew worked in my home for about 4 months. And I gotta say now that they are done My wife and i miss the company. lol excellent job Explicit Exteriors. Thanks again

They were extremely responsive. They were good, but I didn't hire them because they were just too far from me. They were very accommodating, very eager to help me in whatever way they could, but ultimately they could not do the project. It wasn't a worked up thing. It was definitely a reasonable estimate.

Jason began work on the house earlier than projected by a few days. He and his crew have been working and have gotten so much done already. They are staying on schedule and although there have been unexpected surprises, Jason has tried to keep the cost close to the original one when the contract was signed. Jason has stayed in touch with me by texting 2-3 times a week to keep me apprised of how the work is going. He has sent pictures of the demolition, the repair of the foundation, pouring the cement in the crawl space and a surprise patio with the extra cement. I am so pleased with the way things are going with my house and how professional Jason DeGroat has been throughout the process. EXCELLENT! Jason and his crew are highly professional and a pleasure to work with. They are on time, efficient, do great work and with a pleasant and positive attitude. As an Interior Designer, I am very detail oriented. Jason and co met and even exceeded my expectations! I will hire them again and highly recommend them.

We interviewed quite a few contractors from Angie's list. We went with Jason at Explicit for a few reasons. First, was by what he told us in the initial meeting and quote process. He stated that there are always surprises that show up on a major renovation and that he bids them so that we do not get a bunch of crazy charges at the end. He stated that he does not take on more than one job at a time. He does not like to juggle more than one job at a time or use the funds from one job to pay for another. That sold me on using his service. SHORT STORY: Those statements turned out to be false. He did not pull the proper permits and the job took 3 months longer than it should have to get that corrected. Jason did not run this project like he should have causing timely delays, burst pipes, and due to his own mistakes cost overruns. He obviously had another job that took priority over mine. Most of the days on this site we had only 1 guy working here if anyone at all. Guy would show up at 10 and leave at 3. There would be a flurry of workers and work for a week or two, then everything would drop off and we would sit and wait. The final bill was a huge dispute. I was so frustrated with this job that I just wanted to get it over and done with. LONG STORY: Contract has everything in it. Start date supposed to be September. Work actually started end of October. Finish date was supposed to be December, it was done in April. I told him he needed to start the job with all permits. He only pulled the building permit. Job has plumbing and electrical too. He submitted the wrong drawing for the framing so framing inspection fails. He does not resubmit the framing drawing to get reinspected for weeks. No work takes place, he goes on vacation. We have no laundry facilities, house is freezing. Two months after my initial concern with permits, he has plumber and electrician file the correct permits. I am being patient with the process and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. He sends over 1 guy to do a bunch of little things. This one guy shows up at 10 and leaves at 3. He replaces soffets and leaves hand prints everywhere on white soffets. They are still there. Finally out of frustration I start pushing Jason hard in text messages. It becomes apparent that the flurry of work happens when he needs money. The first time it was for the first payment. The second time was for the half way payment. He installed the wrong door. He replaced it but complains about the cost of that door numerous times to me. We put the exact model of the door in the contract. Final on the job is more than expected. He nickle and dimes me for work that should have been covered under the contract. An example is the siding. When his guys ripped the siding off of the back of the house, they took a little piece of siding off that was next to the kitchen window. I point it out that they did not replace that piece when they did the siding work. He charged me for a day's labor and the cost of replacing siding that they should have put on originally. This happens with quite a few things. The final bill is intentionally inflated by him. He is trying to recover costs due to his mismanagement of the project. I agree to pay more to him than I should JUST TO BE FINISHED WITH THIS PROJECT. He nickle and dimes me for things that should have been covered. The majority of their work is excellent quality. MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERY LITTLE SCREW IN THE CONTRACT. We wrote an addendum to the contract that he agreed to before starting the job and HE STILL BILLED ME EXTRA. Good luck, I am sure they do excellent exteriors. I would not schedule a major renovation job with them.

This is a preliminary review, based on the first 3/4 of the job: so far, Jason and his crew have been great to work with and have done excellent work. Jason has been responsive, accommodating, punctual, careful and has thought through the whole project in a thorough and responsible way. Looking forward to completing the process with him and his workers and leaving a final review in a few weeks.

This company is responsive, reasonably prices, thorough and clean. They were able to run interference for me with my very tight building code requirements, and completed everything - even more than was required by the contract. I can recommend them.

Work started as promised and demolition went OK. From that point on, we were disappointed with the quality of the work performed. The main issue is that the work was done in the wrong order and that care was not taken to ensure that damage to new bathroom fixtures was not caused due to carelessness. New Terastone countertop w/sinks is badly scratched because it was never covered. Workmen threw tools, paint cans, fans,etc,.on it while working. Same with the top of the toilet seat--very badly scratched--never covered as work proceeded. New tub has chips in the bottom and a large chip on top of the side panel. Workmen placed tools and a huge shop vac in it and also stood in it and placed tools in it without covering it while tiling and plumbing was being done. Numerous holes were made in the walls and ceilings which then had to be patched because they were not in the right places. The holes were poorly spackled and are lumpy, pitted and altogether unacceptable. Seams are unsightly and poorly taped and spackled. Tiling is uneven on the floor even though a subfloor was put down. New plugs above the vanity were installed and they are crooked and uneven Light fixtures were installed before spackling and painting was finished. There are paint spots on the fixtures and visible paint brush marks around the lights which do not blend into the painted walls. Walls were spackled, sanded and painted after cabinets and other fixtures went in. Nothing was ever covered so there was dust and paint on and in all the new cabinets. The tiles in the shower area are not flat and the grout appears to be several different colors which is due either to poor mixing or possibly to patching after the whole thing was done. We are so upset with this work that we must bring in a professional to remove all the grout and have it replaced. The work is particularly unacceptable where the tiles meet the ceiling and we are unsure exactly how this can be corrected. Nail holes in moldings were not filled and sanded before painting. Also existing wooden entry and closet doors were badly scraped and dented and were poorly repaired. In general, painting and finishing touches were poorly executed. Spackle dust and lint from rollers is stuck all over the walls and ceiling. Lines between the white moldings and colored walls are not at all straight and the finish on the walls is uneven due to poor spackling and sanding. Paint was splattered on every surface. Apparently this company doesn't own any drop cloths or painter's tape. Damage was done to a bedroom wall on the other side of the bathroom and was not repaired satisfactorily. We were told that the whole wall would be repainted. This was not done. There are holes in the walls above the linen cabinet and in the closet that were never repaired. Although some debris was removed, quite a bit was left in our garage for our own disposal. We were promised that Explicit Exteriors would do everything we wanted to "make us happy". When it became apparent that the remaining work could not be done to our satisfaction, Explicit Exteriors abandoned this job. We were told that Jason would be in touch with us, but we never heard from him again. Although Jason did not ask us for the remainder of the money we owed upon completion (we paid the 1st two installments amounting to $9,000),we will need to spend more than the remaining amount to address numerous repair issues. Overall, we are disappointed and angry that our new bathroom turned out so badly and that there are things that cannot be fixed, such as the scratches to the vanity top that cost over $2,500 and nicks in the brand new tub. We purchased a new toilet seat and have hired another contractor to come in and repair a great deal of the other work they did so poorly. Although Jason assured us that they did bathroom renovations all the time, it was a huge mistake hiring Explicit Exteriors to do this job. We would never recommend them to another person who wants a nice renovation job done. They may do a reasonable job inspecting your roof for $99.00 but don't let them in your house! need
