Imagine a contractor that returns all of your calls, shows up on time, and finishes the job faster than you imagined. Such is the service of Stevens Home Service. The technician went above and beyond what he was expected to do and also did some touch up painting that was not included in the price. Well done!

Initial Contact - Responded to my email immediately and quote visit set up within days. Steven and team are responsive and accommodating. Price - Very fair and competitive. Unfortunately my co-op's excessive insurance requirements increased the cost by approx. 8%. Work - On time, on budget and excellent quality. Work commenced two days after engaging SHS and it was complete in 4 days by Julio and Chris who were pleasant and professional. Steven would also provide a daily update by phone. The recessed lighting and painting would have likely been complete sooner if SHS did not accommodate my last minute request to address my exposed tv cable wires. I am very pleased with Julio's suggestion to mount the TV, install IR repeater and hide the wiring within the wall. Prior to painting, SHS also removed and disposed of 3 additional old light fixtures at no additional cost. The recessed lights installed in my kitchen and living room have brought my apartment up to date. The end result is modern and clean. The LED lights are adjustable by dimmer and hopefully my wallet will benefit from their energy efficiency as well.

Our hot water heater broke and flooded our basement which was full of our belongings. Our sump pump failed. SHS crew was on the scene in hours pumping out the water. They installed a new service shut off valve at the water heater and replaced it with a new one. Their crew was efficient and worked through the night to remove our belongings, wet sheetrock, doors and trim. They used dehumidifiers, dryers, air scrubbers and green certified mold killer to remove all the mold and leave the basement smelling fresh and clean. A few days later they began the reconstruction and decided to do over our bathroom. SHS leveled our concrete floors and did a beautiful job tiling our whole basement and bath. They replaced all doors and trim and painted to perfection. They installed new LED lighting. our basement looks amazing!!! They replaced our broken sump, built in some closets and even took down a wall to enlarge on of the rooms. They installed a new switch and some new plugs. We are very pleased with their work. They came to work every day and I would recommend them to anyone who needs good work done. The price was fair and the service was excellent.

SHS began work in this one family beach house at the Jersey Shore town of Loch Arbour, NJ on September 15, 2015. The house was in very bad condition and was un rentable. The roof was leaking in many areas, plumbing was not working and bathrooms and kitchen were terrible shape. Floors walls and ceilings were severely damaged and we had a mold issue. We originally guesstimated the job would take at least 3-4 months to complete. SHS did an amazing job making over this home from soup to nuts to my complete satisfaction and completed the whole job more than a month early. We are excited of what our new house will now bring us in the rental market !

Excellent overall. I am the owner of Esquire Management Corp. We have been managing real estate since 1993. Our customer purchased the buildings in 2012. The apartments were rent regulated and had never been renovated. Built in the early 1900's, all 25 Studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units were in decrepit condition. Over the course of approximately 12 months, SHS gut renovated all units to perfection. They are professionals of all trades and services are were responsible for renovating and modernizing all units and helping to bring them to the rental market. We have rented all units for top Manhattan prices. We have bee using SHS for 15 years and will continue to rely on them for all of our renovation and construction needs. Steven, the owner, is a true professional and a real asset to our business and customers.

The price was reasonable compared to the other contractors. The crew came to work promptly & prepared every day. The job went smoothly and we were very happy with the overall results. Upstairs we added two new bedrooms and a bathroom, a walk in closet, mirrored wall, new tile flooring, two stone feature walls with custom TV boxes to border the TVs that the owner designed for me. SHS also built a full laundry room, with plumbing and a floor drain out of an unused closet. Lastly SHS built a state the art kitchen in the new extended portion of the upstairs. My once wasted area that i was using for storage is now a fully functioning and livable space. I just love the way this came out! One of the best parts of using this company was that i didn't need a decorator or designer. I really don't know anything about design or decorating, but Steven (owner) picked out everything for me. All i had to do was ok the options. My small upstairs space looks much cleaner, bigger and modernized than i could have imagined. Downstairs, SHS painted and freshened up what was already there.They added cabinets and closets for storage that matched the cabinets i already had perfectly. They replaced all the windows in the house, and put a hot water heating system in the basement. I am very pleased with the work and am happy to recommend SHS to others.

The provider was a NO SHOW for our confirmed appointment.

I asked for several days to come in for specific times and several emails back and forth to set down a time where no time was offered by provider. Instead I got a phone call a few days later that said we are in your neighborhood, we want to do it now. Told provider that I wasn't going to be there and gave specific instructions that were ignored leading to several call backs by Julio, someone else how spoke better english and the owner. A total waste in that regard. They set the toilet but explained they needed two people and would charge 40 more / hr. Instead of crediting the two hour coupon for this one hour job, they wanted to charge more. I find that suspect but fine, I agreed to it Apparently the toilet was set and they cleaned up which is great. I had someone watch all the time who said they were fine. I also wanted quotes on several other jobs which I have not received and due to the poor communications skills, I'm sure they didn't understand anyway. I won't be getting those quotes or using their services again. They were also asked to provide power to the outlet with the additional time left on the coupon. Instead of doing they sent back an email that said the outlet had no power (which I knew, it needs a line run), so thanks for telling me what I told you earlier and not doing the work.

Steven sent his partner Julio to give us an on-site consultation. Since our condo doesn't have design plans for individual units, we had no idea about the layout and clearance above our ceiling. Therefore Steven gave us 3 cost estimates depending on the amount of construction (repairing drywall, painting etc). The estimates were for total job effort (not by hour) and were competitive so we agreed to hire them. They fit us in to start work the very next week. Positives: + Easy to communicate with. Mostly we texted each other and occasionally spoke over the phone. Steven responded immediately to text messages and phone calls. + Cost came out exactly as estimated. No hidden costs or fees. Not charged by hour. + Work was completed early (estimated 4 days, completed in 2.5). + They protected our furniture and floors and cleaned up completely after the job. (Swept, vacuumed, and mopped the floors. Dusted and wiped the furniture.). + They accommodated our request to use zero VOC paint and repainted the walls leaving no trace of the holes they had to make. Negatives: None

Excellent. Very high level of service and professionalism from this company. All aspects of the installation were clean and extra care was taken to ensure a truly seamless presentation. Installer Julio is very nice and has a professional work ethic. Quality of the LED light is excellent for all activities, including reading, but is at the same time not in any way overbearing (Steve can explain that and will give you various options). The fixtures work with timers and dimmers unlike CFL, and are estimated to have an average life of ~30 years. Considering the underlying cost of the fixtures themselves, and the projected savings over 3 decades both in terms of replacement bulbs and actual electricity, I would say that the overall value provided by SHS here was remarkable.

We moved into a new house and we needed a handyman to fix the little things that broke. We are so glad we found Steven. One freezing Friday morning we woke up to realize our heat was not working. He came over within the hour and spent half the day fixing it. He can fix just about anything and if he feels it's not a problem he is honest about it. He takes his time with everything he does to make sure it's perfect before he leaves. If something else goes wrong he is always a phone call away.

Steve came in with a great price, and a turn key solutiion for my lighting needs. he was punctual, professional and very easy to work with. he allowed me to test the lighting in a few rooms before committing to the whole house. We have a fairly large home and steve was able to complete the work of over 200 bulbs changes in less than 2 days. Steve also was available right after when one of the 200 bulbs was not functioning properly to come back and service it right away. I would STRONGLY recommend Steve's services

Everything went excellent. I felt relived and rescued. What a convenience it was for me and my family to have one company to handle the work of several. Their emergency crew arrived at 5 pm Sunday night and worked through the night to remove the water. They arrived each and every subsequent days at 8 am sharp and worked for one week straight until our basement was completely restored to better than original condition. They also dealt with our insurance carrier in a professional manner and provided us with a fair price and a detailed invoice that our insurance company accepted. THIS COMPANY WAS A GOD SEND!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANY HOMEOWNER FOR ANY HOME RELATED SERVICE!!
