K & A Tree Service

I called the company and left a voicemail with a question regarded trees in my yard that had been trimmed by the power company. The company called back within 10 minutes. They were able to answer my questions over the phone. The next time I need tree services K&A will be my first stop.

It went well. They were very prompt, did a good job and charged a reasonable price.

This company is very professional. When an estimate was given, I was provided it on paper which most other companies did not do. The removal of our huge oak tree was expertly done ensuring that our house and power lines were of no harm. With the trimming, they ensured that their progress was exactly how I wanted it to be done. The cleanup was done professionally.

Excellent. Joe, who gave the estimate agreed to do the job for $100 and $50 less than other estimates I had obtained and left a very nice impression. He wrote out the estimate and the team arrived 4 days later as agreed. They removed the one tree, trimmed the tree which overhung the house, and Ken, who was in charge said that the stump would be done the following day. We agreed that I would withhold $400 till the stump was taken out. After Ken had left I noticed that the branches over the garage had not been removed, and was told by one of the workers I should call Ken as he did not know anything about that. By this time the machinery for grinding the branches had left. Ken thought that they had done everything, but when I pointed out that that the branches over the garage were on the estimate, he agreed to come back and complete the job. He did, to my complete satisfaction.

Ken the owner was extremely responsive and came over within 10 minutes to give me an estimate of the work. I checked one other Angie's list recommended tree service and his price for the same work was much higher. The day of the agreed removal his 5 men crew came on time and worked professionally to remove the tree and related branches. Several large pieces of trunk were left at the curb and were removed by his foreman operating a lift several hours latr, the crew had cleaned up very well. Within 10 minutes of the crew completing their task the stump man arrived who is also a partner in the firm. He ground up the stump and the many roots that were on the surface. I cleaned up the chips and spread them around the property.

K&A was courteous and helpful. They removed the trees while I was at work and I came home to a job well done. Pricing was the best estimate out of the four companies I contacted. Highly recommend.

K & A provides FIVE-STAR SERVICE, FIVE-STAR QUALITY, and FIVE-STAR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. As first time customers, we are highly impressed with K & A Tree Service, Merrick, NY. During a severe early evening thunderstorm, our 90 foot pine tree split and crashed onto our maple tree (about 45 feet away). We immediately looked for an emergency tree removal service. We called K & A's emergency phone number (after hours) based on reviews on Angie's list and proximity to our property. K & A's hands-estimator arrived at our property to assess the job within an hour of our call. He was a knowledgeable and courteous professional. We were quoted a very fair price and our expectations were more than met when K & A confirmed that they could take down the tree the next day and grind the stump the following day. A crew of 7 arrived the next afternoon. We were amazed at their expertise and efficiency. Our massive pine tree, 1/2 crashed into a maple and the other half standing, was skillfully taken down and most debris was removed over the next 3 hours. The neatly cut trunk sections were removed early the next morning. Later that morning, 2 workers returned to grind the stump and remove any additional debris. Just as with the tree removal, their expertise and efficiency was evident with the stump grinding. It was done quickly and neatly. We were given tips on how we might want to use the bark chips as mulch in different areas of our garden; we were also given tips on aftercare for our garden beds that had been transformed, literally overnight, from dappled shade to sun-filled. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend K & A Tree Service; we would use them again.

Kenny is awesome. He came out very quickly to provide a quote, and he even suggested I call the town to see if they would remove it for free, since it was close enough to the street that it might have been considered a town tree (unfortunately, the town disagreed - of course). He came with a big crew, took the tree down in about an hour and a half, and cleaned up everything very promptly. His price was very competitive, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him again. I have a few other trees that I need removed, and I will definitely use K&A again.

Kieth was very responsive and gave updates on the ETA. This being a holiday weekend, their responsiveness was excellent. Keith arrived first and estimated and sized up the job. We agreed on a fair price. (no weekend price gouging).He called ahead to his crew and within 30 minutes, a small army descended on my home, and got the job done quite quickly and professionally.. The workers were very professional. I was very pleased with this company during an unpleasant situation.

Everything went very well. I called & spoke to Bob. He came out and gave me an estimate to cut down the tree, remove all the debris, & clean up. The job was scheduled, and executed the following week. I was given confirmation by Ken that the job would be done on the date that we agreed upon. They arrived on the location as planned. The crew was very respectful of my property, and my neighbors as well, and did not wreck the place. It was all done in a very professional manner, at a fair & reasonable price. I would have no problem recommending K&A tree service to any of my friends.

Very friendly and professional. They just get the job done and they clean up the area before they leave making it look like they were never there. Hard to find such an honest provider anymore but Kenny and crew are it.

Had an estimate from Bob and while it wasn’t the cheapest, it was comparable to others and my decision was based on his personality. When Bob called to set the date, I found out he wouldn’t be on the job which I had concerns about but he addressed them to my satisfaction and I scheduled the job thinking, even more, that I had made the right choice. The day of the appointment (today) was a very rainy morning, but forecasts were for clearing. The job was scheduled for sometime after 1:30pm and I took ½ day off to be home in the afternoon. I headed home thinking I would have heard about a cancellation as at that time the rain was done with on and off light drizzles remaining (and is now clear). Not hearing from anyone, I called Bob a bit before 3:00pm and left a message to verify an ETA. I received a call from Kenny apologizing about not having paperwork with him making him unable to call me to cancel due to the weather. I was upset and told him I had taken off, and someone should have called me earlier. He told me I could have called them and I said I assumed the professional would make that call if the appointment was to be cancelled or not. He then told me “it was pretty obvious the work wouldn’t be done with the weather as it was”. With that I told him to forget about it and ended the call and I went back to my other quotes. To his credit he did call me back a few minutes later apologizing and saying he’s usually good with his paperwork and that stuff just happens, which I do completely understand. He told me he would do a Saturday appointment to save my time off and even take $100 off the bill for my trouble. All this was very accommodating and generous, but I declined as being told “I could have called” and “it was pretty obvious…” from the vendor just didn’t sit right with me as the consumer.

The crew from K&A were amazing. They arrive right on time and got to work immediately. They were cordial, professional and just a nice care of men (5). They cleaned up all debris as well as the neighbors yard where a lot of limbs fell. They worked until the job was done, and with a smile - even in the drizzling rain. Bob provided a written estimate about 10 days before we scheduled the job, and he, too was just the nicest guy. Family run business. I would hire again without hesitation.

Great experience from getting the estimate, to performing the work, to the follow up before they left the job. I put the call into Bob when I saw substantial numbers of good reviews. A day or two later he called back, set up a time to perform an estimate, came on time (came back when I asked for additional work), and was helpful in setting up a time to perform the work that worked with my tough schedule. Kenny and his crew showed up early on the day of service. They surveyed the area to be mindful the property borders, a kids play scape, our home, and other trees. The guys arrived at 8am, got right to work, finished by 10am. Here's the best part. When they finished the bulk of the work, Kenny came to my and I and asked that we inspect the job, he himself pruned a few more branches that my wife wanted removed, and then he made sure his guys cleaned up the yard, leaving it as they found it (ex- the trees and bushes). He called his stump guy and coordinated that he come later that day. When this gentleman came, he was extremely careful of the house and other areas that could be disturbed. In all the experience was excellent. We value service providers who come when they say they'll come, do the job with 110% effort, and put customer satisfaction above all else. I've used other tree services before (I even reviewed another one years ago who's ratings have fallen on AngiesList) and these guys should be your first and only call. If you want the job done right, you don't want stress related to a job, and you want people who care about getting repeat business, these are your guys. Already two other neighbors have gotten estimates and look set to use K&A.

K & A Tree Service was awesome. We just bought our home in January and part of the reason that its value was depressed was due to diseased and awkwardly placed trees surrounding our property. Many were located hanging precariously over power lines. Kenny was extremely easy to work with and quoted the best price by far (I'm talking thousands of dollars less than other tree services). His team deftly removed all of our trees and ground the stumps in less than a day, leaving the power lines intact. Kenny's work increased the value of my home. I am very satisfied and would definitely go to him first next time I need tree removal service.
