K & A Tree Service

We received estimates ranging from $600 (received an Angie's list 5% discount) to $2600. All companies we received estimates from had A ratings on Angie's list, and A+ ratings from the Better Business Bureau. The companies with the 2 highest estimates kept stressing how the wires, made it more difficult to remove the tree. The 2 lower estimates, said the wires were no big deal. We chose Ken, because he had the most reviews, and they were all rave reviews, on Angie's list, and his price was substantially less then the next lowest. No one exaggerated, they showed up exactly when they said they would and they took exactly the 1.5 hours expected. They even raked the grass. They left some big logs by the curb, to be picked up by their truck later in the day. It was fascinating watching them, how they moved the wires out of the way, they were not a problem. No trucks being brought into the back, just a man climbing a tree, lowering the branches to men on the ground, who were bringing them to the front where they were mulched.

Kenny was great from the start. He returned my phone calls right away, followed up with me about our appointment and was on time. The job took about an hour and they cleaned up after themselves. We were very happy with K & A Tree Service and we highly recommend them! Thank you!

I called them, and they came right away. I needed it done quickly, and their responsiveness was excellent! They came right over me, and did the landscape the next day. They were great! They did what they said they were going to do. I'm going to probably use them again, because I have to plant some trees for next spring. They worked out perfectly, and they were able to do it so quickly.

We were very satisfied with the service and professionalism of K&A. Our tree wAs so large, that a crane was used to transport the tree limbs over our house. They came back in a few days to grind the stump, and a few days after to take the mulch. We would thoroughly recommend this service and would be happy to use them again in the future if needed.

It went great. They did cut down the trees in a timely manner and very nicely done. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a tree service. I also liked the people who did it. They were very courteous and thoughtful.

We just purchased our first home in East Meadow, it had a lot of overgrown trees and bushes around the property. Having survived Hurricane Sandy, and having fear of giant trees and branches falling into the house or next door neighbors, we knew we needed to do something for our safety and for others. We still wanted to keep some of our trees in our backyard. I checked the reviews on Angie's list about K & A. Before calling K & A, I also called others tree service company. Others company gave me the run around. Ken was the best! He called me back after I left him a message, we set an appointment for a free estimate. On the day of the appointment, he was on time. He was friendly, professional, honest and gave us some tips about our trees in our backyard. We hired him on the spot, we set up a date for his crew to come. On 7/31/13, Ken' s crew came....Jess and his crew were awesome! They were fast, efficient, friendly, they really cared about their customers, they kept asking us is this enough trimming / cutting? The next day, Pat was supposed to come and grind all the tree stump, he couldn't do it because it had rain the entire day. Pat went beyond his job, he attempted to call us, but our old phone was disconnected and in the process of being connected in our new home, Pat also tried calling my husband at his cell phone at work, he left a message instead. Pat could not contact us, he instead stopped by our house in the pouring rain to tell me that he would come back the next day @ 8:30 to grind the stumps. Which he did, he was fast and efficient. Pat is cool! He also gave me some advice and tips for caring for our yard. Overall we are very satisfied with Ken, Pat, Jess and their crew. We greatly recommend them.

I would strongly recommend K&A Tree Service of Merrick, New York. My initial phone call was answered in a timely manner. I was impressed with Kenny's friendly, knowledgeable and professional handling of the estimate. His crew worked like a well oiled machine, and they were in and out of my yard in no time. Pat was scheduled to grind the stump, and he showed up on time with an assistant; and again, I was very impressed with their workmanship and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend K&A Tree Service; it was a very positive experience from start to completion.

They were great. Ken, who was the owner, made himself totally available for me. He came very quickly and exactly when I needed him to. He was really fair on the price and he was really respectful and reliable. I was very happy with him.

Excellent from beginning to end. Prompt response to my initial call. Was on time for every aspect of the job including the estimate, which was more than fair. Knew his business. The crew did a fantastic job and the cleanup was immaculate. I cannot say enough positive things about how well they worked and the care they took to not damage anything on my property. Extremely well. Extremely responsive when I first called to get an estimate; showed up on the day scheduled and did a fantastic job in cleaning and pruning the trees -- and cleaning up afterwards.

We were VERY pleased with everything ! THE PRICE WAS VERY FAIR, all the workers were amazing bringing down these large trees. They came on time did the job they were expected to do and cleaned up. I would uses their services again and would be very happy to recommend them to others.

I left a message on the K&A Tree service answering machine. The next day, Bob called and was able to give me an estimate. While Bob was at my house, he called Ken, the owner, to confirm the Angie's discount and gutter cleaning. I signed a contract. As promised, the tree was removed the following week. The crew worked together very well and the removal was done neatly and efficiently. While the men were removing my tree, my neighbor inquired about the removal of a smaller tree. Ken gave the neighbor an estimate and was also able to remove their tree the same day. It was a pleasure to deal with both Ken and Bob. Both men are gentlemen,considerate and professional. I have highly recommended K&A Tree Service to my lawn service business. Thank you Angie!

well, slight delay in grinding the stump, but not a significant issue

very easy (for me), they worked very hard and very quickly and professionally. I could not have asked for a better experience.

It went well until the stump was grinded out. We didn't know that there was some type of concrete driveway in the rear of our yard under the grass. Some chunks of concrete appeared so the stump was grinded down perhaps not as far as it could have been. Overall, I was pleased with the time it took to get an estimate and then have someone come to the house to perform the work. The process couldn't have been any quicker. There was nothing to clean up (other than that concrete that was found during the grinding process). We definitely got our money's worth and I would strongly recommend K & A Tree Service.

It was the first time I had used them. They did a great job. The price was very good. They got the job done in about 15 minutes. Another company was going to charge me about double what they did.

A very prompt call back from Kenny, the owner. An estimate appointment was easily and promptly arranged. Kenny was on time and gave an estimate after looking at the trees and bushes we wanted trimmed and pruned. Unlike several of the other tree companies we got estimates from, K & A Tree Services was the only one who also offered bush pruning. Kenny is very outgoing and down to earth. He made recommendations and quoted a very fair price for the amount of work involved. He set an appointment, gave us an arrival window and promised to call 1/2 hour before their arrival. Absolutely kept every promise. He told us a large crew would be attending to our work and also gave us an estimate of how long the job should take once they arrived. Well no surprises it all happened the way Kenny promised. We will absolutely recommend K&A Tree Service. We also plan to use them on a regular basis for any upcoming work. Definitely a Class Act.

Show up on time remove a tree, trim some other trees . they was quick and very good

Like i stated in the previous description box after the permit was received from the village and notifying the contractor of this I have not heard from him.

It went very well. The owner was on-site and he made sure all of the workers were doing what we asked them to do. They were very quick. They turned all the trees into mulch very quickly. They came back the next day to grind stumps so that we could install a fence. They did a great job.
