Always Affordable Chimney Inc

The company came out said the the chimney was too big to clean with the tools they brought (I am in a regular one family home). They refused to perform the cleaning service and tried to sell me on $5000 + dollars of repairs and lining replacement.

Cleaned it - it stilled smelled afterward.

Good. He also gave me a new flu cap.

Wonderful! The crew came as expected and finished as scheduled. This is work not commonly done . I let it go for two years before I found Tom and Affordable Chimney. The people were all pleasant to deal with and treated my property with respect. I felt like they were family. I chose Affordable without any knowledge of their business practices, but I am glad I did, and I would choose them again. There are a lot of chimney companies, but Affordable does it all. Good contractors are a rare breed out here in the Hamptons. They left the site as clean as they found it.

They came here to do a chimney cleaning and told me that they were doing also masonry and gave me an estimate for the walkway work. They removed all the stones, rebuild the foundation and reinstalled the stones as well as replacing the broken ones. The work was done quickly and with high professionalism.

I could not have been more pleased with the work. I called this morning for an estimate. Alfredo and Carl showed up in 35 minutes. They climbed their ladder to the top of the chimney, took pictures, showed them to me and gave me a price on the spot telling me exactly what they felt I needed. No pressure whatsoever. Said they could do it now or I could call them at another time when and if I wanted the work done. I had already been up there myself and removed the old crown and a couple of rows of brick, so I knew they were no B.S.ing me at all. The price they gave me was extremely reasonable compared to quotes I had gotten a couple of months ago. I agreed they would do the work and they did, immediately. New stainless steel double wall liner, top to bottom, stainless tee on bottom, stainless storm collar top plate, two rows of brick re-mortared, a new cement crown, and a new stainless cap. All finished in two hours and they cleaned up everything before they left. I highly recommend Always Affordable Chimney Inc. to anyone in need of chimney repair or a new liner. Excellent work, polite respectfully people, fast efficient and clean. Yes Yes Yes.

Everything done well and with explanation of all work

The visit went well. Al arrived on time. He sent a text message to inform me that he was in his way. Upon arrival we spoke and I explained what I believed needed to be done. He explained every step in the process. He was thorough and informed me of all that was entailed. Al even provided me with the pictures taken as a reference. He left his estimate with no pressure to purchase his services as well as informed me that he would not be able to do certain work if I did not get permission/agreement from my neighbor as we should split the price. I appreciated the honesty. I will be hiring them for the work that needs to get done.

I made an appointment for a Saturday morning between 9 and 12 several weeks ago. The office called stating they were running late and they would be there between 3 to 4. It is now 5:43 and no one showed up or called. The office is closed now and no one is answering the phone. So Always Affordable Chimney Service gets a lousy rating.

I have used John at Always Affordable Chimney for the past few years & found them to be fair, caring & competent. He dosent try to "scare" you or ""sell"" you services that you dont need at the time! My home was built in 1913 & after using some other chimney services, I would never think of using anyone else!

I would say it went well. As a new home owner I don't have much to compare to.

Work was completed on the same morning we get the estimate! They were not the lowest but found items needed estimators didn't. Unlike the others who quoted a price, the person who estimated was the company owner and actual installer along with his highly skilled associate! Highly rated supplies were used and the work completed in under two hours. We received the Angie's list discount and senior discount which was much appreciated as we are on a limited fixed retirement income.

I didn't use them. They gave me an estimate.They were just too high. I still think they were good. He said it wasn't done right but it turned out it was.

from the time I initially contacted them till the end of the job, Always Affordable Chimney Inc has always been helpful. They explained everything, as a matter of fact the owner kept stressing what exactly would take place and the reason why I needed this to be done. He even showed me the before and after draft effect of the liner. The work took roughly 30-45 mins. This being my first Angies list experience I would definitely give them an A+.

The service providers, Tommy + his assistant, came to sweep the chimney, as I noticed some debris at the bottom of the chimney cleanout. They arrived slightly after the appointed time, not too late by the usual standard. After inspecting up from the cleanout, and down from the roof, it was rather quickly determined that there was a blockage of some debris that collapsed in the chimney, and probably resting on a slight bend. The provider told me that he was concerned that he wouldn't be able to free it by poking at it, because of the bend. Tommy proceeded to prepare me by telling me by his experience, he would have to open up the wall and the chimney near the blockage, remove the debris, and rebuild the chimney wall. He said this would cost between $1,200-$1,500. As soon as the proposal was signed, he changed his tune, and acted like he was going to try something soooo wild, and actually first poke away at it from below up from the cleanout, which succeeded within ten minutes. The whole visit was less than 2 hours, most of which time was inspection, discussion with me about options, and showing me video about the chimney liner he wanted to sell me for $15,000 + $3,000 for permits. After they cleaned up, I asked what I owed him and he said $1,500. I told him although, yes, I had signed the proposal, I believed that to be the price if he had to open the chimney, and patch it back up again. He then tried to convince me that he would have RATHER done all that work, that some how it would have been EASIER for him, than the 10 minutes work he actually performed. Like he did me a favor or something. Did I prefer that we did not have to open the wall and make a mess in my house, of course (provider did not even bring plastic sheeting to encapsulate dust, luckily I had my own and sealed off the boiler room myself). Tommy got agitated, started telling me that he was "livid" that I was not satisfied with the deal, and agreed to knock off 10%. Was I satisfied? No, I was not. I felt suckered. I did sign the proposal, so there was not much I could do, but the whole thing seemed to be a well rehearsed shtick to try to build up the case for how much work it would be before my signing the proposal, and then his solving the problem fairly easily. 2 men x 2 hours = $1,350.

We must look like rubes because every company we try to hire from Angie's List gives us the most expensive option possible by far.

Project required two days; one for each chimney. Parts for the furnace chimney had to be custom fabricated. One postponement needed due to dangerous winter weather, otherwise, all work performed on schedule and as specified. Price was in line with expectations for this type and amount of work. Furnace chimney was over thirty years old, so renovations were not unexpected. i was able to see extent of the damage that needed attention by accompanying the crew onto the roof for in situ inspection. They also provided photos if I didn't want to or was unable to climb. Overall, quite pleased with the completed work. The wood stove chimney has never drawn better, with less backdraft and oder, since the completion of the project.

They were prompt, courteous and seemed to know exactly what was needed and didn't try and sell me anything I didn't need. They quickly assessed the one project and told me exactly what was needed and gave me an estimate on the spot. They then checked my fireplace chimney while they were here and said nothing needed to be done with that and it was perfect, and left. Very easy and I felt confident they could be trusted and would do a good job if I chose to hire them. I would recommend including Always Affordable Chimney in your search for a chimney professional.

No BS groupof guys. I couldn?t be happier with Tommy, Alfredo and the rest of the crew. They were truthful, honest and frankly a great bunch of guys to talk to. Always Affordable Chimney Inc. was actually the second company I called. Not satisfied with the chimney cleaning and the estimate the first company provided, I decided to call Always Affordable and spoke to Tommy. He was at our house in 3 days and on a Saturday! They showed me everything that was a potential issue and how he would fix it. He also showed me items that did not need to be fixed and why?these were items that the first company called out. Take the fire place as an example. The first company wanted to re-line everything, cement the fire shelf and a bunch of other things. They suggested this after we said that we get some smoke in the house from time to time and it smelled like a log cabin. Costly project! However, the problem that Alfredo from Always affordable figured out was that our cap for the fireplace flue was too small. Instead of an 8x12 cap, the previous company retrofitted and installed an 8x8, which blocked 1/3 of the venting capacity. After the new install of the proper size cap, the fireplace worked perfectly and no more smoke or smell. Savings of $4,000. Now that we solved the fireplace flue, we had Tommy and team focus on re-lining the furnace/hot water heater flue which I know was a concern due to the age of the house (1923). If ANYTHING goes wrong with my chimney in the future, I know who to call. They will also be doing my annual chimney cleaning moving forward because I trusted their opinion and their honestly. I failed to mention that we hired Always Affordable on the spot and he was done in 2.5 hours. They cleaned up after themselves like they were never there. They also installed a new venting system for my hot water heater at no charge. Can?t beat that!
