Academy Chimney

The new chimney didn't even last one year. I was assured that the new sections were installed in a better, more secure way than the old chimney, and he several times guaranteed the work. However in the first snowstorm of the following winter, the newly installed chimney came crashing down. Numerous phone calls to the company office were unreturned, and when I finally got him on the phone, he was evasive before finally agreeing to come out to the house to see the problem in person. However, he failed to show up for the appointment, and I was unable to reach him by phone again after that. The installation of my chimney was shoddy and they do not stand by the work, despite guarantees that they would. As far as I am concerned, this man is a crook.

I thought it went ok at the time. However, this year when I went to have my chimney cleaned, the chimney contractor advised me that the previous chimney sweep (Tim Doran) had done a shoddy job. He showed me where Doran had not put in a flex tee, top plate or storm collar with the liner. He also had not cleaned the chimney prior to putting the lining in. Along with all that, the stainless steel liner was of very poor quality and thin. With this type of work, safety is a big issue so it's very important that the job be done correctly.
