My wife and I purchased a new semi-custom Kraftmaid kitchen from Lowes in New Hartford as part of a remodel for a 60 year old house that had not been updated since it was built. The initial install went horribly awry. Lowes original contractor (Dan Henderson) was awful. He showed up late, rushed through the cabinet installation without leveling anything, damaged a cabinet so badly that it had to be re-ordered, and left a mess, including blood on the floor and a cabinet. The kitchen is on the small side (U-shaped 7'x11'x8'), and even the upper cabinets were installed as much as an inch out of level. It was such poor quality workmanship that the stove would not fit into its designated space. For this, we paid $2,100 in installation fees. After a week of increasingly vocal complaints to Lowes (which they attempted to minimize), Mike Peppenelli showed up to verify our concerns. We were somewhat comforted to see him walk through the door with a laser level. I don't think that the original installer (Dan Henderson) even owns a level. It was instantly clear to Mike that the entire kitchen would need to be re-installed. After ordering necessary parts and allowing two weeks for delivery, Mike showed up on time to re-install the cabinets. Thankfully, our experience with him has been fantastic. Mike is a true craftsman. He took painstaking measures to insure that the cabinets were installed perfectly level, and ready for the granite countertop. Part of the kitchen design included installation of a farm sink, which ended up requiring heavy alteration of the base cabinet. Following much consideration, Mike devised and constructed modifications that worked beautifully. He is also neat and considerate, laying drop cloths and cleaning up daily. We are so happy with his rescue, that we plan to use him for additional tile work and bathroom remodels, and would gladly recommend him to friends and family.
