It took at least 5 phone calls to find someone to tackle this sewing machine. The local Singer authorized repairman wouldn't touch it. Thank goodness one of the appliance repairmen I called said and quot; You need the Village Smithyand quot; - I dropped it off on a Friday and it was done in about three business days. The machine works great and the repair was reasonably priced. He is my new go-to repairman.
Description of Work: Rewired an antique sewing machine motor (Singer 201-2 direct drive/potted).

My $150 toaster oven just stopped working. I couldn't even take it apart to diagnose it. It was fixed for $40. Around the same time, the waveguide cover inside my microwave oven got a hole in it. Probably from over-aggressive cleaning. He sold me a piece of mica for about $6 that I took home, cut and replaced the old one with. He also advised me on how to prevent the hose that supplies my ice maker from freezing (paper clip). The ONLY con would be that he didn't tell me when he could get to the repair. Next time, I'll know to ask how many repairs are ahead of me. Just a head-up, they don't accept credit cards.
Description of Work: Fixed toaster oven, provided part for microwave, advised service for other appliances.

My Kenmore canister vacuum brush roller stopped working. I saw corroded 2 prong connector (terminal cover) in extend wand as the problem causing bad connection with handle. Needed to replace the piece it plugs into in handle too (wire harness). Went to this shop because it is close by and had one good review. He was great. Sold me the parts needed and gave me info how to do it. I don't think I would have gotten the wand apart without his input! Really nice guy and clearly knows his stuff. Strongly recommend him. Thanks!
Description of Work: Was prepared to leave vacuum with him but decided to fix on my own after he gave me good information and parts.

I took two vaccums, a Sears ShopVac as well as a Dyson with an electrical cord problem. Both were repaired within a week. The and quot;Village Smithyand quot; is courteous and the shop is quaint. Overall a pleasant experience. It would have been nice to pay with a credit card, however the shop takes personal checks in addition to cash.
Description of Work: Repaired my Dyson vacuum and my shop vacuum.
