No contract signed. They never got back to us
Description of Work: Quite a while, after we requested an estimate, we were visited by a company rep. to look as our home for an estimate, after multiple phone calls from us we were finally visited by a different rep to go over a written estimate in person. When asked to itemize tasks by price, they never called or returned.

Quality of work was very good other than the paint job. They are very expensive, however I needed a brick floor torn up and replaced and I knew they had experience so I was willing to pay the price for this specific job.

Overall, it was a painless renovation from start to finish and what more can you say about that? Quick, clean, and my new laundry room has made my life so much easier.
Description of Work: Ron renovated my laundry room and mudroom. They are not inexpensive, but I was removing a 25 yr old full brick floor and was worried that it would not be flush with my hardwood kitchen floor. They did a beautiful job replacing the brick with ceramic tile, they were quick, immaculate, and very professional. I would not have any qualms about using them again.

Started on time and worked on project until it was completed. Kept work site clean and unclutered. Scheduled and worked well with other contractors.
Description of Work: We have done business with Ron Dimon over the past 12 years or so & always found him to be very professional, reliable, & his crew does 1st class work. I would highly recommend Dimon Construction for any home improvements.

We liked the end-product, but we hated the path it took to get there. Their price was easily the highest of the 4-5 contractors we spoke with, so we thought their quality would be the highest. That wasn't necessarily the case. We have a crack in our kitchen ceiling that was never addressed, we have a large bow on one of the posts on our deck that was never addressed, one of the handle cranks from a brand new window was broken and never replaced, and we had cracks in the grout between our kitchen counter-top and the backsplash. The grout problem was fixed, but it was fixed with a different color than the grout originally used. Unfortunately, all of these quality issues appeared after our last payment was made. Our other issue was that they calculated the load wrong for determining if we needed a new electrical box or not. They had the correct size box installed, but I was never notified of this until the job was done and they gave me a bill for a lot more money. Our contract stated that if there were any cost overruns they were supposed to tell me ahead of time for my approval. I called the electrician and asked them how they could calculate the load wrong during the estimating phase, and they told me they never provided Dimon an estimate. Dimon did all of the electrical estimating themselves. I told Dimon that I wasn't going to pay for the different electrical box if it was their fault, and they said fine, but that the were not going to pay the electrician for the work they performed. Dimon was upset that the electrician told me it was Dimon's mistake. The electrician didn't get paid for quite some time, and they were even considering putting a lien on our home until Dimon finally paid them. During the design phase we changed the layout of the kitchen, but Dimon never updated the allowances for the counter-tops, which we didn't find out until after-the-fact. We signed off on the final plans, and then went to the granite company he recommended. We walked in the door and told them we had a $9,000 allowance for granite, showed them the plans, and the salesperson immediately told us and quot;we can't give you granite for $9,000 - the kitchen is too bigand quot;. I told them to show us whatever granite they originally quoted to Dimon, and they pulled out a copy of the plans from 3 months earlier when the kitchen was much smaller. Dimon changed the plans, but never updated the allowances. There were some and quot;littleand quot; things as well, such as why our kitchen table was closer to the island that it appeared to be on the plans. There was a measurement error on the plans, so the plans made our kitchen look about a foot longer than it really was. Had we known that we would have purchased a smaller table. Now that I've focused on the negative, you may wonder why I gave them a and quot;Dand quot; and not and and quot;Fand quot;. The difference was their foreman Mike. Mike was a joy to work with, and was great with our kids. If I could review Mike as an individual I would give him an and quot;Aand quot;. We have five children and he was always very polite with them and always had a kind word to say. Our youngest son really enjoyed having Mike around. The quality of work Mike did was great, and he was the lone reason the project was bearable. You may wonder why I gave the quality such high marks after referencing the issues we had at the beginning of this review. The issues we had were all things that could have been resolved by Dimon after-the-fact, and they were not. I understand that structures and quot;settleand quot;, which I'm sure is the reason for the crack in the ceiling and the cracks in the grout. That was not something Mike did. My problem is that after Dimon was notified of these items they were never fixed. We were told that their work had a fairly long warranty (5 years I think), but they have never been back to fix those items. The foreman Mike has since left Dimon to start his own company, and I have no doubt he will be extremely successful because he was very customer focused. In the end, we were happy with the work that Mike did, and with the exception of the cracks we are very happy with how our new kitchen looks. For $250,000 though, I would have thought the process of dealing with the company would have been easier. I felt that once we had made our large down-payment on the work, that we were no longer as important to the company as their new prospects were. It would often take days to get responses to e-mails or voicemail messages from the owner.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen completely remodeled, which included moving an exterior wall. We had a new deck constructed, and we had new windows installed in our family room. We only recently joined Angie's List, so I thought this review might be helpful to others.

The owner takes the initial meeting. That went very well. Estimates are done and then the project is tweaked from there depending on estimate and if changes are needed to get better pricing. Then the designer comes to the house to go over colors, tiles, fixtures. Then all items are ordered. Once all items are in the project begins. You meet the team that will be working in your house. It is always the same people and they are very personable and respectful. Each day they worked at the house until the project was completed. As we had two bathrooms done they did the one that was not working at all first. Then the second was done. I would say that at the completion they could be a little "cleanier" in that they really didn't do anything to make the space usable, it had to be completely cleaned and polished before use as all installing dust, etc remained. But follow up service was excellent and timely with a couple of issues that came up over the first 6 months or so after completion.
Description of Work: I had two bathrooms completely gutted and replaced. This included finding out that there was no access to the attic for a ceiling fan to be installed. An access panel had to be installed. Estimate did not include that and no up-charge was done for that. After completion of the project (September 2010), about 6 months later or so there were a couple of things that needed to be corrected and they came to the house within a day of the notification to correct. While I'm sure there are other providers out there who might do it for a little less cost as a single mother I didn't want sub-contractors in and out of my house and I liked the personal touch of knowing everyone on the project. Dimon is a family business and that comes through in their service.

there was no further conversation after the ball park figure!
Description of Work: I heard about Dimon, mostly because we are in the same town. The guy cameto give me an estimate on a bathroom remodel as well as a number of other projects we needed to have done. When it came to getting a ball park figure for the small bathroom, (5'x5') it was so astronomical all I could deduce was that he had zero interest in getting the job!

They were very professional from beginning to end. The communicated every step of the way and were always responsive to questions. Since completion there have been a couple of very small follow-ups that were needed and they took care of them immediately.

We have used Dimon Construction for re-modeling projects numerous times in the past and always have had the same results. From the initial review of the job with the owner, Ron Dimon to the completion of the project, it is always an enjoyable experience. Ron always offers constructive advise on the details of the project and goes into depth to really understand what we are trying to achieve. He has kept us from making stupid mistakes numerous times which more than makes up for what at times seems like a slightly higher price than the competition. It proves that experience is worth paying for. On this job, we had numerous little things that needed to be done and each piece was done with care and professionalism. We will continue to use Dimon Construction for our remodeling needs and we highly recommend their services to anyone.

We were impressed with the courtesy and expertise of the owner, Ron Dimon, who came promptly to evaluate the situation. He returned in person within a day or two day to sit down with us and go over the job. The job was scheduled in a timely manner (within a few days). The men working on the job were polite, experienced, and careful about their work. They were creative in solving the problem of laying a tile floor in a room where the walls and door were not square. This created a challenge about tiling the foor so that this lack of squareness was not obvious - especially by the door (the door jams were off by about an inch). They did a wonderful job! They were very careful to keep the work area and hall clean. Drop cloths were put down from the front door to the bathroom. All cutting and mixing of materials was done outside. They cleaned up thoroughly when the job was done. Their work is guaranteed, but we have not had any problems. We feel that they went above and beyond to please us. Part way through the job we decided we wanted to add a new sink (which I ordered separately). They accommodated us and added a small amount to the original estimate for that. They were also willing to work with us to save on costs (we picked up the new toilet and tiles and paid for them separately). Other than the cost of putting in the new sink, they stuck to their original estimate. My only regret is that I wish I had consulted their interior decorator about deciding on and ordering the sink - as it turned out to be lower in height than I anticipated, and it was too much hassle to return it....but the grandchildren like it! Overall we are very pleased and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: A slow leak in the plumbing behind the toilet had rotted the floor beneath the toilet. Dimon Construction repaired the floor (including sub floor), put down cement board, retiled the floor with new ceramic tile, installed a new toilet and new pedestal sink.

Very responsive and professional in responding to request for quotation and provided detailed quote with scale construction drawing. I noted differences in the work from the drawing when porch roof was still just in rough framing stage. Notified Dimon of issue and he promised to correct (plans called for a 5'' overhang on eaves to prevent water from dripping on porch platform but rough framing provided no overhang). He promised to correct, I went on trip and returned to find work completed but problem not fixed. They returned and did "cob'job" retrofit that added about a 1'' overhang but water still drips on to porch platform. I paid the remaining 50% balance because work was finished in late Dec and I didn't realize drip problem would still exist. When Feb thaw occurred problem was evident. I called Dimon repeatedly over a four month period to get resolution and have been now forced to go to Small Claims Court for satisfaction. They acknowledged issue but refuse to offer solution.
Description of Work: Hired them to build a non-enclosed porch roof over the brick and stones steps to the entry door of my house.
