went well....gave me a $20 credit because they had to reschedule visit...covered working area and cleaned chimney--also, went up on roof at my request to inspect chimney area...nice job...

They did ultimately admit what they did wrong and offer to issue a refund (rather than fix it correctly as that would be more costly I'm sure). Will update if and when I receive it. I received a call from the owner who is very respectable and indicated his interest in fixing the issues and doing them properly. He did refund the entire cost quickly and seems to really want his work to be good, and after speaking with him, I believe what he says and will give him the chance to fix it for sure, and the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe this was a one-off error in judgement by his workers.? Hope so and look forward to seeing if they help fix it. Jeff

When I asked the provider how long the job would take, he said it would take 3 men a day. The actual job took 2 men one morning. The second problem is that the provider did not say what was likely to be under the tiles, and what to do about it. What was remaining on the concrete floor was a thin film of tar, the original material to adhere the tiles. It was still sticky despite having been put down over 65 years ago. We have no idea if removing the tar would have been part of the job had we hired someone else, but it seems only reasonable to prepare the homeowner for the tar issue. We had to hire someone to apply special paint, in 2 coats. Even then, it needed another coat later.

The installation crew did a very good job. They cleaned after themselves and completed the work within schedule.

Ken Barker, representative of the Company met me on Nov. 4th took my deposit and work began on Nov 6th and finished same day. Mr. Barker was very courteous and knowledgeable . 2 men showed up pn Nov 6th,am moved in material one person on peaked roof(photo available) ,snaked stainless steel liner thru bottom to top,reconnected furnace and hot water heater and cemented hole in brick chimney. Cleaned up ,etc. I even bought two workers lunch.In the spring I will have them chimney sweep 2 other houses I own on the street.

The service tech called ahead of time to say he was running a few minutes late so that was appreciated. Technician was professional and efficient. My chimney had not been cleaned in 2-3 years but he very honestly said the flue was in excellent condition and he performed the cleaning and said with our type of fireplace (stove) that we could wait another 2-3 years before we would need any cleaning due to the low amount of creosote that builds up in these fireplaces. One thing I always appreciate in a company is honesty and no added sales pitches for needless items. Mr. Chimney was quick, honest and I would use them again in a second.

Crew was on time, completely professional and discreet given the issue (asbestos in the basement, everyone has it, no one wants to admit it!)

After receiving an initial quote, I paid half of the service as a deposit to guarantee an appointment. The earliest appointment was 3 weeks out which wasn't an issue. The day before the appointment, the office called to give a time window -- the team showed up within the window and got to work. They spent 30 minutes or so prepping the room, taping out protective paper and plastic and creating a negative pressure seal with a shop-vac. While doing this, they were able to clearly explain what they needed to to and walked me through what they were going to do. About 3 hours later, they finished and cleaned up after themselves, to the point of taking up the paper behind them as they walked out the door and when they left it was as if they were never there! Great job.

As this was a recent home purchase, they inspected and cleaned the wood burning stove which had not been cleaned in years. They were prompt and professional and did excellent job removing from the home 3 large buckets of ashes and keep the area and carpet clean.

It went very well. Quick estimate and scheduling after determining that I never had a flue liner in the first place. Options were reviewed and most cost-effective for my system highlighted. Crew arrived on time, worked diligently and cleanly, and answered my questions. Estimate was spot on, not a penny extra. I have piece of mind now. Will rehire for all my chimney needs.

He's fine and he's good. They showed up on time.

We initially called a roofing company to trace a leak around the chimney where it exits the roof thinking it was a problem with the flashing. He stated that the chimney was the problem recommended a chimney repair company. They said the chimney had to be completely rebuild from the roof line up for a cost of $13,000. I decided to call Mr. Chimney based on great ratings on Angie's list. I am very glad that I did this - Tim came to so an inspection and basically said we DO NOT need a new chimney, but recommended grinding out the old mortar and re-pointing the chimney. They came and did a great job and left the roof and grounds spotless. We then followed through with having the flashing re-done. Unfortunately, that fall we had some leaking again. Called the roofer back and he touched up with some chalking and said there was really no problem with flashing. So I called Mr. Chimney back and Tim promptly returned and said he would come back in the spring (to cold to use the water at this time) to perform a water test using the garden hose. He did return and spend several hours trying to expose any leaks, but found nothing. We have not had any water leaking though several heavy storms this spring. Tim and I think that the water may be coming from our heating unit (moisture from our humidifier) not getting enough heat to evaporate it at the area her the chimney exit the roof. Finally, Tim said he will come back in the fall when we begin using the furnace again and make another recommendation if the leak returns. I signed up for Angie's List because we recently bought our first house and I wanted to have my chimney serviced by a reputable company. Scheduling was easy, and service took less than 20 minutes. The technician, Ken, arrived a little after 9:30am (I had an appointment between 9am and noon) and answered my questions about the frequency of cleanings and what types of log were safe to use. There was absolutely no mess whatsoever! I'd definitely book with Mr. Chimney again.

Great! Totally professional and punctual, even called the day before to confirm - much appreciated during busy house closing days. We had scheduled to clean 2 flues in new house and check for anything else necessary, but after checking one were told that it had hardly been used since last service. This saved us money and we would have never known the difference! Honest, friendly and fast. Will definitely continue having them as our service providers. Thank you!

Howie was exceptionally nice and professional as were his workers. The chimney (wood burning insert) really did need cleaning; it hadn't been cleaned in two years and the flue looked like a congested carotid artery with the amount of creosote it had. They were at my house approximately 45 minutes( including setting up blankets as well as performing the cleaning and so forth). Upon leaving my home Howie informed me that the cap needed to be changed which he already changed without notifying me- ($250.00). Honestly, I would use Howie again because of his professionalism, knowledge, and his genuine sincerity; BUT I would make sure to let them know that 1. I want the cost before 2. not to change anything without asking me prior. Other then this- I would most definitely use them in the future.

I had earlier provided an F for poor service. The owner saw the review and called. We had a frank discussion and he admitted the company had let the customer down. He personnally attended the house, on a weekend, and provided a plan on moving forward. This occurred, so we now have a functioning chimney. I am grateful for the owner's responsiveness and professionalism in admitting mistakes were made, but then fixing them.

We had a puff back in our chimney and it needed to be cleaned. The provider stated we needed to put a new liner in the chimney because the puff back might have caused the chimney to have holes in it . He wrote up a contract to replace the liner in the chimney and I signed it. I asked him he was going to have a worker go up on the roof and measure the chimney before he left . He said he knew the dimensions of this kind of chimney.He left and the workers worked. At the end of the day a worker told me that the provider wanted to speak to us on the phone. I spoke to him and he stated that the liner had not been installed since the chimney lining he had would not fit in the chimney . We had looked at he base of the chimney at this time in the boiler room and saw that some of it had been changed. We realized that part of the chimney base in the boiler room had been replaced which was relatively new and did not need to be replaced. This consisted of expensive large pieces of metal which he did not leave us! Removing this metal section had not been discussed and it was not on the contract I signed. He charged us an exorbitant amount of money for work we did not authorize, and was not on the contract we signed. The provider did not do the work we authorized him to do. We can not understand why we were not informed immediately that the provider was not replacing the chimney liner! He did not offer us any options. I was informed later by other providers that a custom liner could have been installed. I called the provider and told him we wanted him to come and speak to us. We made an appointment for a date and expected him in the morning, he did not come. I called again and was told he had come in the afternoon. He never called back to reschedule, I did not pay since I was waiting for him to explain. I then received a letter stating there a mechanic lien on the residence.

They came on time. They were friendly, and super clean. Set up an enclosed plastic work space around the chimney and didn't leave a speck of dirt or soot around the house. They didn't speak good english so they couldn't really explain the details of the job. They were certainly knowledgable and I don't doubt that they performed the job correctly. I know it was a labor intensive job so it shouldn't be cheap, but the price seems a little inflated. I would use this contractor again. I would give them a solid B.

Two men arrived in reasonable time. They were courteous. My house is old and so goes it with the building methods of the time. I had a lot of questions regarding the height of the chimney, repair and cleaning. With one of the men I discussed some repairs that could be made, but he told me the repairs were not urgent at this time - the flue wasn't too dirty, the mortar missing in the firebox was not too bad and the chimney, from the inside, looked good to him. We then discussed the height of the chimney again (at my insistence). More than once I received a response like "looks good to me" and was advised that remedying back draft was not a science. He said the chimney needs to be 36inches from the roof and from where we were standing outside, he said "looks good to me". The second guy didn't agree with him and that's when the one ascended the roof to find the chimney was 19 inches. Then it couldn't be determined as to what material the chimney was made out of: stone, brick, etc and I didn't know either. I asked for suggestions. We then proceeded to briefly discuss how expensive it would be to extend the chimney to the basic height of 36inches and still not be able to guarantee elimination of backdraft. I was advised of ways to remedy back draft on my own. They said they would do whatever I wanted them to do. I didn't know what I wanted them to do. I was not confident with their responses to the questions I did ask. I did not want to pay the inspection fee.

Mr. Chimney came to our home to provide a second opinion on the state of our clay liner. Bottom line, they were professional and informative recommending no new lining was needed at this time. Additionally, they waived the fee for the inspection. We will use Mr. Chimney going forward to service our chimney.

They did a great job. They were reliable. It's the same thing that I hired the other fireplace company to do and they weren't able to do it. The price was fine. They fixed everything and they were professional.

It was excellent. They had a lot of work to do. They were recommended by a builder that I know very well. They were totally honest and above board. It is a family owned business so they really have a reputation to uphold so they have to be honorable. I've never had experience with this before but I know it is pricey. I would absolutely use them again. I am very picky and they did not disappoint.

These guys were fabulous. They called in advance as I requested. Came on time. Checked out the damper and said it was fine just needed more force to close. No repair was needed. Also said that chimney was clean and did not need to be clean. Very pleasant young men .Nice to experience a service that was honest and professional. BTW no charge at all, not even a service charge. Zero$$$. I would definitely use them again and recommended highly.
