I have my own business, pleople come to me for advise and i thought I could do the same with Bob, relying on his professionalism and expertise: OMG was i wrong: The plants were planted in a zick zack pattern leaving huge wholes in between plants that anyone could see through and walk through. He planted spruces in spots where they obstructed sight for turning cars. Plants that would become eventually huge and where others would have done the job. Right away I infomed Bob that this is not what he had designed and what I had expected. Never in my life before had I received such blunt and arrogant answer; He said that the design can not be relied on, , that HE actually liked the plantings and HE had accomplished what HE wanted to accomplish. And he could tell"I never gonna be happy" and that's where he left it, he did not even try to fix his mistake. He could not care less, he had already gotten my money, and that was that. Not only did immediately all neighbors complain about the totally misplaced, obstructing spruces and rightfully so, we also got a village violation because Bob did not take core of it right away. We had to dig out 13 trees, pay for the labor, risk that the trees die, and we still have wholes in the ground from the dug up trees. After a few month I had to dig up other 10 tress to close the wholes from the zick zack pattern. All in all I paid twice for the yard work and plantings. It was a really disturbing experience
Description of Work: I hired Bob Beresford to design the yard for the corner property. I gave him from the beginning clear instructions as to what I wanted to accomplish: Screening the property since it was a corner lot and all open. I have 4 children and wanted to have some privacy as well as making sure that they would not be able to access the street after the plantings. I also wanted to have some variety as far as plants and shrubs went and I gave him a clear definitive budget. I got a design drawing and he set photos of the plants and i went with his recommendations. In the first phase i asked to have first the trees planted and then we would pick the shrubs together. Weekly maintenance was ok. Grass was reliably cut every week. Rather than actually weeding, there was just some occasional raking done in some of the planting areas, so my yard always had a lot of weeds. I was billed for having my gutters cleaned even though I never asked for or wanted that. I never argued about that though because I had just had a baby and didn't have the energy. However, I decided to cancel services this year after the spring clean-up was done when the yard was still very wet from the melted snow, and the machinery left multiple huge muddy gashes in our yard, some of my favorite ground cover was raked up like weeds, and a hydrangea I had received as a baby gift was mutilated. I sent a certified cancellation letter to the owner with some pictures of the damage, and he emailed me to ask what was going on. I told him how upset I was, and his response was just 'Sorry about that'. And then today I received the letter back in the mail unclaimed - the owner didn't even care enough to see the pictures of the damage his company caused to my yard. Rude guy, sloppy landscaping company. Would not recommend.
