This was an extremely difficult job, squeezing a Carrier Infinity AC system into the end of an attic that has a 38' run only 36" high from floor to the peak. The floor of the attic is covered with loose cellulose insulation. Even now, it's starting to get hot up there. This was definitely not a job for anyone particular about working conditions. We got three bids. One was a little higher than BELL. The other was much higher than BELL, possibly because the guy really didn't want to deal with us. Aside from price, one of the reasons we went with BELL was the salesman, Brian. He set a record for consistently rapid response. While one place took a week to turn around questions, Brian often replied within an hour. He had initially suggested a fancier heat pump system but then quickly adjusted to giving us exactly what we wanted. He crawled to the end of the attic and figured out how to fit the units. He also worked with us to route the services up an unused chimney so that they couldn't be seen from the outside. The two guys, Hakim (I hope that I got that right) and Patrick, who were here for the whole operation, did a terrific job under very challenging conditions. This being a pretty big investment, I checked on them frequently. Aside from fitting the air handler, air purifier, and heating coils in a very tight space while keeping them serviceable, they had to run and insulate long ducts to five supply vents and one return. It's almost impossible to appreciate the difficulty of doing this without being there, but maybe picture crawling into a 36" tall triangular dark oven, twisting yourself up like a pretzel to connect and insulate ducts on both sides, having someone blow cellulose in your face to increase job satisfaction, and setting the timer for 8 hours. At the end of each day they looked ready for the glue factory, but they kept saying that they were determined to do a great job, and they did. At the end, Keith Bell came by to set up the wireless control unit. I was impressed that several times he answered my e-mail late in the evening. The handling of the paperwork by the office was very smooth. The installation, from beginning to end, was a very good experience, at least for those of us who didn't have to crawl around in the attic and do the actual work. The quality was excellent. If you have a hot attic installation, my advice would be to schedule it outside of the summer months - this job would have been cruel and unusual, and maybe even impossible, then. You also need to work with your contractor - don't just ask them to call you when it's done. Finally, if possible, it's good to spend some time with the guys doing the work to gain a little appreciation of what others do.

Rui from Sales was prompt and knowledgeable. He understood what was needed and recommended the boiler that would be best for our situation. He thoroughly explained the installation process. The scheduling for the start of installation was reasonable - about two weeks. Chris and his installation team were also very prompt and very good to work with during the installation process. Chris also made sure to explain, in detail, the work that would be done. Everyone was polite and made sure to keep the area clean. The installation was to take two days. Chris and his team kept to the schedule and finished the job on time. With this professional installation by the Bell Team, we are confident that we will now be warm for many winters to come. Great job!

We were EXTREMELY happy with the work performed by Bell throughout the entire process. This was a major project, and we received 4 different bids. Prior to receiving any of the estimates, we were most impressed with Keith and his knowledge of the business and his plan to complete the work. He fully explained the pro's and con's of the various options that were being proposed. Bell's pricing was very competitive with the others, so we moved forward. The work was completed in a very professional and high-quality manner. Jay was the key on-site contact and was always very helpful. He answered all our questions and concerns. Clean-up was always top-notch. Keith himself was always responsive throughout the process. They immediately addressed any issues we had. They worked deep into the evening one Friday to get the AC up and running prior to a very hot weekend at the start of the summer. I would highly recommend Bell for this type of major HVAC work to older homes.....they know their stuff and do great work!

After waiting 10 days which were EXTREMELY COLD, I called them and was told the part was not in yet - AND despite the fact that it was FREEZING out, it never occurred to anyone at Bell to expedite shipping and / or follow-up to see what the delay was. The phone clerk seemed absolutely oblivious to any thing that made common-sense. It was actually an infuriating conversation. NO sense of what good customer service is. After my call, the part "miraculously" was available. The tech returned a couple of days later and installed. I called the office TWICE and asked them to send a DETAILED BILL as we spent nearly a $1000. Bell never sent it! Now, it appears the EXACT same problem has occurred again - this time though it is with the air-conditioner.........The symptons are the same as the problem we had with the heat.. Needless to say, I will not use Bell again ---- but am wondering if that $1000 was money wasted.
Description of Work: No heat on the second floor of our home during February. Tech diagnosed problem and had to order a "major" part to fix. They also removed our thermostat and replaced it with a CHEAP one emblazoned with their company info. It was not installed securely and shifted every time it was touched!!

The Sales Representative sent on this appointment went out on unexpected extended medical leave. Every effort was made to contact all customers, during this transition. Once this was brought to our attention the proposal was completed sent and received by the customer in less than 24 hours. Prompt customer service is always our priority.

They responded very quickly and they're very effective. All in all, I think it's pricey but they did a good job. They're close and familiar within my location. I highly recommend them. I read the reviews and the highest ratings once that I looked at. On the sales side, their sales people are a little less or their service people shouldn't be sales people.

Perfect, from quote to installation and removal of old items. Very punctual, pleasant, level-headed, knowledgeable people did this job, from the man who came for the quote to the installers who did this job during a heat wave. I was mostly impressed with how they were able to get the equipment to my townhouse unit, and remove all the old items plus all the garbage without disrupting any of my neighbors. I will definitely use and recommend this company.

I can't remember the date they were here, or the approximate cost. But I remember the experience well enough... The first technician misdiagnosed the problem and removed a perfectly good high quality thermostat and replaced it with a cheap (in every way, price and looks) one emblazoned with their name and phone #, leaving a hole in my wall for me to repair. The manager never had the courtesy to return my calls, just eventually sent over 2 new technicians, who were fairly knowledgeable and quite surprised at the intitial diagnoses. I'm not sure how they got such a high rating on Angie's list... I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They're part of the reason I ceased being a member of Angie's List.

Rude office person responded that their priority was existing customers, and that they would not be able to provide a free estimate on a replacement system. They wanted 119 dollars payable in advance by credit card, before they would send anyone out to look at my gas furnace/ac system and discuss a new system. I guess they don't want any big jobs or new business.

It didn't go well at all - I understand they're busy with other people who don't mind paying on faith, but the service was very rude from a very simple and legitimate question. I was only quoted a 199 charge for 'coming over' and giving me a diagnostic I already know; and then when they refused to even estimate the work I was hung up on with a curt 'thank you'. Wow how rude.

I had a carrier central air system installed this past winter by Bell. The installers were decent, seemed somewhat knowledgeable and tried to keep the house as clean as possible. The system took three days to install and is not officially tested because it isn't charged with freon until it gets more towards the warmer months. The original installers are supposed to leave the system fully install and ready to operate as soon as another tech comes out to charge the system. I made an appointment with bell to have the system charged in March (two monthst after install). The tech came out, went in the attic, went to the side of the house and was done in a half hour. I was initially impressed as I though the appointment would take longer. He informed me that he checked everything upstairs (including the drain) and the system was ready for me to use. The next day it was 90 degrees and humid out , so with a huge smile I flipped on my expensive new central air system. It worked great for the entire day until about 8PM when I heard the system shut down. I went to the thermostat and tried to turn it back on with no luck. At my wife's request I then crawled in the attic at 9PM to see what was going on (by now I am cursing under my breathe bc after spending 15,000 on a system , I should not be troubleshooting on DAY 1 !) I called Bell's emergency line and requested to speak to a technician asap. The emergency tech called me back and I arranged for him to come out the following day ( I was satisfied with Bell's emergency tech service. The person called me back quickly and agreed to come out the next day , which was a Saturday). The emergency tech goes into the attic and finds 5 gallons of water in the safety pan and the safety switch tripped. The unit's condensation drain line was not doing it's job and water was just collect in this pan in my attic and caused the system to shut itself down, The tech informs me that the drain was installed wrong and that he will have to install a pump in my attic so that the water can drain properly. He installs the pump on Saturday and informs me that they have to come back again to install more special equipment to ensure the pump won't fail. Here is where my grade of "D" come into play when dealing with this company . The following week nobody from Bell calls me to inquire if the system is working properly or to schedule the required appointement. I finally call Bell on Thursday of the following week and ask to speak to the manager who I initially dealt with when I purchased the system. I told him what had happened and he basically said well "Hey at least your ceiling didn't get ruined". I just had an expensive system installed by this company that failed on day 1 and that is what the manger tells a customer? I now get slightly annoyed and demand and appointment to get someone out to finish the work and /or explain to me why it was not done correctly the first time in which he tells me I now have to deal with service department. As a customer now I am thinking I might as well have went with home depot to install the thing if I am going to get long winded run arounds and bs answers like, "talk to the service dept." The service dept calls me and days they can't give me anything for two weeks! I told them that this was a bad install and that I want someone out ASAP and she tells me she can't help me. There are three problems that I had with Bell: bad initial install, sub par customer service training and bad follow up treatment. I tried to use a "local" company to install my system bc I want to support the local economy and not deal with the bureaucracy of the big home improvement stores. To be honest, I would have gotten the same , if not better, treatment at the big box home improvement store than I did with Bell.

We had 4 estimates done before we contacted Bell, which we chose from Angies list. Two estimates were from large national chains; two were from local contractors. One of the nationwide chains, had a crazy high price, and after a week, they called back and cut their price from 11,000+ to around 8,500. They came on with pure sales tactics-- and the salesmen were going to sell windows to someone right after they left. They knew the terminology, but obviously were not HVAC folks. The ones who came to the house would NOT be doing intallallation, and spent over an hour on their laptop--- and maybe 10 minutes looking around the house. The other big box store came and they seemed good --- but i had to keep calling them, as they did not return their estimate (they said we would get it the next day)--- we got it 10 days later, after calling several times. The two private contractors seemed good, one though was using a brand that we were not particularly confident with. THEN, we called Bell . WHAT a differance. Leon came the next day to do the estimate. he measured the unit in the house, and was making a drawing with dimensions as he went ( not just sloppy cell-phone pictures). he knew what he was looking for, and was not just a sales guy. He checked the air flow at each register. He gave us confidence in that he knew his stuff, and that our installation would be handled personally. We got back the estimate on Monday, and had already more than made our decision to go with Bell. His price was reasonable, and since we were paying cash, he took that into consideration as no finance charges would be incurred by Bell ( We got the distinct impression that the big box places felt that since we were paying cash, they would be loosing out on the finance charges, so bumped up their price to cover that loss) The installation went smoothly. They said they would be here at 8:30AM, and at 8:29 the doorbell rang. They did a neat job, and were done that afternoon. All the old equipment was removed. The unit is amazingly quiet ! We are happy with their recommendations on the estimate. The only down poin is that the air filter seems to be very tight to remove and Very hard to replace, but that just may be the design. We would definitly choose bell agian, as well as recommend them to others

I had somewhat a questionable experience with this company on a prior project where they were supposed to change an oil burner with a gas burner at one of mine investment multifamily properties. The owner Keith came and took all the information but after that I called them several times and spoke to Brian to get things moving and nothing happened. They kept telling me the plumber had to get back to them. Finally they did get back to me after three months to ask me for some papers about the property from the town which to me sounded kind of odd and basically saying to me that we dont want to do this project and please find another vendor. However had they had told me this earlier I could have save 3 months of my time. Finally I did get the project done from another company and everything went smoothly. My brother thru his investigation came across Bell for his geothermal project and decided to use them. He had a great experience. I am not sure what the issue was with my multifamily project perhaps they were going thru some growing pains but they could have handled the situation in my opinion a lot better I am leaving them with good ratings from the experience I had with them with my geothermal project. I did decide to use someone else for the geothermal project. This time around everyone was very responsive to my questions and there price was very competitive.

The overall installation went very well with only a minor hiccup with a previously installed thermostat. Keith's team typically didn't work with the one I had, but they were willing to learn it, and found that I needed a different model to get perform the automatic switch over. The cost was minimal. Bell also recommended two electricians which were both very good and punctual at our first meeting. I chose Butch Gilbert from Effective Electric and he was great. I am going to write a review on his firm now.
Description of Work: When we purchased the home 2008 it didn't have A/C, and because of the shade of the trees the temperatures where never really that bad. But after the summers of 2010 and 2011 my wife and I decided to purchase one. The house already had forced air heat, so we only needed a condenser and evaporator coil added to our existing unit. I contacted several HVAC companies and chose Bell for their responsiveness and price. Keith and Brian were very helpful throughout the entire process, from pulling permits with me, to deciding which unit was appropriate, and answering all my questions. Because the house uses heating oil in the winter I decided that it could be beneficial to instead purchase a heat pump, cooling the house in the summer and heating it in the winter. I was concerned that I would have to manually switch over from the heat pump to the oil furnace when the temperature dropped below the 40 degree mark making it impossible to draw enough heat from the air to heat the house. Keith assured me that the thermostat would be able to make the switch automatically once a temperature reader was placed outside the house. And sure enough their setup worked perfectly. I don't believe the 2011/2012 winter was much colder than our current one, and so far it looks like we are going to use HALF of the oil we did in the previous year. Now obviously are electric bill is higher as the condenser and coil are pulling in the summer time. But with the reduction in oil use, we essentially have the air conditioning in the summer for free. I was also a little concerned with using a Tempstar as I had read some pretty bad reviews, but as I continued to read about other brands I wasn't necessarily seeing others that stood out (especially not for the price). So far the Tempstar unit has worked perfectly, and Keith also told me that the warranty was very good. It is my relatively new oil furnace that needs repair three times during the winter. The unit I purchased was the Tempstar R410A evaporator coil and the 13SEER R410A heat pump (3Ton). They installed all the necessary refrigerant piping. The house gets a little warm in the upstairs (which Keith warned me about) but we are extremely satisfied with the purchase and work done.

The guys at Bell did a great job with our HVAC work. They replaced 1 furnace, 1 CAC, added another CAC and replaced most of the ductwork in the crawlspace. The overall experience was very good. I called for an estimate and Keith Bell himself came out within a few days to do this. When I decided to go with this estimate, they worked with me on a short time frame to take advantage of my wife and kids being on vacation and out of the house. They took care not to mess up the house and to do all of their work in a detail oriented way. The result looks very tidy. The units themselves are excellent and I am very happy that I took Bell's recommendation. There was one small glitch with one of the units not cooling properly about a month after installation but they had someone out to fix it within 4 hours of my calling. MY neighbors have also used Bell and recommend them.
Description of Work: I had two mini split ductless heating & cooling systems installed covering 4 zones in my house. Bell helped me size the system and choose the components. They also helped me weigh this option against installing central air. They then worked with me to choose the best installation so as to minimize the impact on our living patterns. They sold me the units and the installation. I contracted for the electrical work with their recommended electrician to run new circuits and connect external connectors (who did a good job).
