After work was “supposedly” completed, there were plumbing leaks, problem with grout cracking, and incomplete looking projects. We had to hire other contractors to repair problems. Would not recommend!

Brian Otto's crew (except for his painter - more on that later), were excellent. They worked quickly and efficiently and hardly took breaks. The weather outside was cold and that made for interesting problems - like needing antifreeze in the tile saw. We also decided to incorporate a unique rock wall, using man-made rocks, on one entire wall and on another short wall. In spite of troublesome weather and an issue with one of the suppliers, Brian's crew did everything they could to keep the project on track. The supplier issue was a new custom shower pan that was fabricated by a supplier in Avon, NY. The new pan arrived on schedule but was built to the wrong dimensions. We never figured out exactly the source of the error (poor handwriting on an order form?) but Brian and the supplier worked to resolve the issue and get us a new shower pan. This could have caused the entire project to be delayed but Brian's crew were able to switch the order of some of the work so the overall project stayed on track. The work by the main crew was absolutely top notch. Andrew and Brendon were here all day every day and handled every step of the project, from tear out to flooring, to tile work, to cabinet installation, minor plumbing and electrical, etc. They also did a fantastic job prepping for and laying up the rock wall. The only real problems were with the painter that Brian Otto brought in. The painter was slow, couldn't figure out what type of paint had previously been used on trim, etc. He ended up using the wrong type of paint on existing trim, causing the paint to bubble and not set properly. He then spend a couple of days trying to scrape and sand all the woodwork to fix the mess. That process never did work out. That's the only reason for the less than stellar rating for quality. In the end, Brian had his original crew simply buy and replace two of the existing doors so the paint would adhere properly and look right. Even though not painters, Andrew and Brendon ended up doing the paint work. It was satisfactory but we eventually, a few months later, had our own painter come in and redo some of the painting. Bottom line... hire Brian Otto for your renovation work. Absolutely. However, I recommend either bringing in your own painter or at least having a discussion with Brian about who he will be using for the painting.
Description of Work: We did a complete master bathroom gut and redo. Tore out all old cabinets, flooring, shower, whirlpool tub, toilet, etc. back to the wallboard. Constructed new shower, put in new floor and cabinetry, new toilet, new tile work (floor and shower), new grab bars and other fixtures and lights. We also added a unique rock wall feature on one wall and part of another. The project started in early December 2013 with a goal of being complete by Christmas. The bathroom was actually completed on Christmas Eve with a final walk through and sign off on 30 December. Note that the $16,000 cost of service is for what we paid Brian Otto. We also bought fixtures, cabinetry, tile, electricals, stone for the wall, etc. separately. The total cost of the project was about $21,000.
