"Thank you very much for the rave review of our company. Unfortunately we have only letter grades less than A's in the price and cost area. We know that quality doesn't cost - it pays for itself. We really appreciate you pointing that out in your review. We appreciate your business."

"Thank you for taking the time to write this great review. We very much appreciate it. We are pleased to hear you were happy not only with Jay and his work but in which the way our office responded to your call after the snowstorm. We strive for customer satisfaction and look forward to doing business with you in the future."
"With all due respect, the only thing silly about our conversation was your reaction and comments about paying the $125 service fee. As I mentioned in our conversation, we charge a $125 service fee to come out which we will waive if you accept our estimate. New and existing customers do not have a problem paying the $125.00 and understand and respect our policy. As I tried to explain we do not price over the phone. Pricing over the phone often leads to misunderstanding on price; honestly any company pricing a job unseen cannot be accurate. The truth is that no one can give you the actual price without all the facts and analysis. We at Mako look at each job and give you the exact price for the job before you approve and authorize work to commence. As an Angie's List customer you could see the wonderful reviews from the customers who do use our services and also notice that it says we charge a service fee to come out and rectify the situation. We have been in business for over 15 years and we have 500 plus Grade A reviews, our professionalism honestly and quality is what makes our customers happy and confident in calling us for their plumbing needs. We do everything in our power to keep our expenses as low as possible, but in this economy, it's not practical for us to drive all over Long Island giving free estimates. As it's expensive to own a home with heating, a/c plumbing drains and electric, please keep in mind it's also expensive to run a legitimate service company. In order for Mako or any other qualified and fully licensed plumber to stay in business and provide great customer care and service, there is a great deal of overhead; there is the cost to send out a fully equipped truck with a qualified technician in licensed and insured vehicles, office staff, gas etc. It's certainly true that we are not the cheapest company on Long Island, but we can guarantee that we will be on time, and our professional technicians will resolve the situation at hand and the job will be done right. We hope this has helped you understand our policy. In the event the plumber who originally started the job has still not returned and/or you don't find someone else who will be able to help resolve your plumbing issues, we are still available if you need our help as long as you are comfortable with the $125."

"Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are happy to hear you were pleased with Jay and his work. In regards to the grade C in price, we do everything in our power to keep our prices as low as reasonably possible, but the fact is it is expensive to run a quality licensed and insured business here on Long Island. We are glad we were able to help."

"Thank you for the complement of a job well done, that is why we have 500 plus A Ratings on Angies list. We strive for customer satisfaction and are happy to hear how well your situation was resolved and are pleased to hear that our technician was able to resolve your situation in a professional / knowledgeable manner. As you witnessed, Mako technicians are extremely thorough and efficient in their work at hand. In regards to your remarks referencing the incorrect estimate, unfortunately we may have jumped the gun and prematurely given a price when we arrived at your house in February. We accessed the situation and found an outside hose bib directly above the areas where the leak had appeared in the basement. We took for granted that this was another frozen pipe, and priced it accordingly. Only after opening the sheet rock did we realize, fortunately the outside hose bib had not frozen as we thought, instead the leak was on a rotted galvanized drain line. We had priced a problem that did not exist. At that time we repriced the job for an additional $100 which we discussed with you. In the future we will not price jobs without visually inspecting them nor will we price over the phone. In the end we are glad we could keep the total cost under a few hundred dollars included opening the wall, removing and replacing the rotted galvanized drain lines."
