I solicited estimates for an oil-to-gas conversion from 4 different companies. Mako had good reviews on Angie's list, and a few of them mentioned conversions, so I gave Mako a call. Mako was the only company that wanted a fee for the estimate. Given it's good rep on Angie's list, I went along with it. Total waste of money. After getting all 4 estimates I realized that the person from Mako had the least knowledge about conversions in general, National Grid, the available equipment, how Nat Grid installs new gas lines, high efficiency equipment, etc. All the other companies that came for estimates (Fairway, AWS Mechanical, Gramman) had detailed knowledge of the process. They didn't have to go back to their truck for 20 minutes to look things up while they wrote up their estimate. And the estimates they gave me were far more detailed. Most importantly, the things those other companies told me were correct. For example, the Mako guy told me National Grid would have to dig a trench across my property and that it would be quite messy. To me that signals that this guy had never done an oil-to-gas conversion, because all the other plumbers knew that Nat Grid does trenchless installation (Google trenchless pipe instalaltion to find out what it is). I have a gas line now, I can tell you that Nat Grid does not dig a trench across your property. Bottom line: I was charged $125 + tax for an estimate by a person who knew nothing about oil-to-gas conversions. It takes a certain level of dishonesty to bill someone for a service that you know you are not competent to provide.

I contacted Mako Plumbing becasue I had some renovations done on my second floor unit and the contractors failed to remove the radiators before construction. As a result, I was in dire need of a professional plumber to rectify the matter. First let me say that the staff at Mako were extremely professional. Surprisingly the Plumber Jayson was punctual for the schedule appointment time. He made some suggestions on how he could properly fix the problem. He leveled the radiator (which took some drilling and pounding) and then the problem was resolved, In addition, he also serviced all of the radiators on my first & second floor unit. After the job was completed, Jayson explained the services that were performed. He then walked around to each unit to ensure all of the radiators were getting hot. I was pleasantly satisfied with his performance and professionalism. I would definitely contact Mako for additional services when needed.

My 25 year old gas burner failed at 10 pm. I e-mailed MAKO immediately because of their "A" rating on Angie's List. I also e-mailed another "A" rated company and they still haven't called. Robert from MAKO called at 7:40 am the next day. He came over almost immediately, diagnosed and explained the problem to me and replaced the needed part. I also ask him advice on purchasing a new handicapped toilet. He was very helpful and gave me information on a supply house that he uses and whom to talk with to get the best advice on product quality, price etc. He stands behind his work.

He came in and corrected the problem, which was done incorrectly the first time by another company. He was clean and honest. I was pleased with their service and would use them again.

After having to call the fire department on new years eve because i smelled smoke from my boiler, the Mako guys were here within an hour. They replaced a faulty pump and scheduled one of the senior guys to come out after New Years to take a look at the whole unit. The day after New Years, Richie came out and did a (what seemed like 150 point) inspection. He decided that I did not need a new boiler and all I needed was a good maintenance call and to have some of the 20 year old pipes replaced. He came the next day and did a fantastic job. He was clean, curteous and honest. I have now become one of their biggest advocates to my friends and will never use anyone again (e.g. Montilli)

He was very good in service everything worked and the water went down. He informed me of what product to use to keep the drains clean and to prevent water from raising.

December 1, 2012, my heating system was broken. As a new homeowner, I was having difficulty finding someone to address the problem. Finally on December 20, 2012 @ 6am I decided to try Angie's List. I was so impressed with the website, I became a member. Searching the website, I found Mako Plumbing and Heating Co.. I was impressed with the reviews, I decided to use the company. I emailed Mako @ 6:30 that morning and received a call from the owner @ 9am who was professional and pleasant on the phone. Mako was ready to come to my home but I had to schedule an appointment for the following day as I was not at home and did not think I would get such a quick response from Mako. The following day started out very stormy in the morning but Mako workers came on time. They reviewed the problem and listened to my concerns. After a few minutes they gave me an accessment on what had to be done. Without any hesitation they began to work on the problem. At that point, I felt relieved and happy to know that Mako was on the job. The owner of the company called me the following day to make sure I was pleased with the service. I would recommend Mako to anyone and everyone. Thank you Mako and Thank you Angie List.

Since we saw a good review for Mako Plumbing in Angie's list we contacted this company. The plumber reviewed all the work that we required and gave us a price of $500.00. We agreed without any discussion. All the required work was completed. He told us that new stoppers were required and that he would come back with the new stoppers. After calling the Mako plumber a few days later, he came back and told us that each stopper would cost $285.00. At first I thought he meant $2.85. This was ridiculous. I could buy two new faucets for $285.00. He left without any further work being done. At this time, less than two months after the work was completed the water pressure in the kitchen sink is terrible, and the water pressure in the Master bathroom is even worse. All three faucet handles that were adjusted are worse than when the Mako plumber adjusted them. Two leaks are gone. Two sinks still cannot hold water due to faulty stoppers. My wife and I are quite unhappy with the work performed by Mako Plumbers. To pay $500.00 to repair two leaks and to ask for $285.00 for two sink stoppers is even more ludicrous.

I called their office to inquire about replacing 2 toilets and removing a clog. An appointment was set up and the plumber came promptly on the appointment day. He looked at the job gave me a good estimate that included the materials (2 Toto Drake toilets) and said they could start immediately. I hired him on the spot and he did a great job, removing the old toilets, replacing them with these highly rated Totos, as well as removing a horrible clog in a shower that I couldn't use for 4 years. He took care not to damage my wood floor, and cleaned up when finished. When it appeared the clog had returned the next day, I called their office and they sent the same plumber out who arrived within 20 mins. He worked on the clog until the drain was finally running again without issue (the culprit was a plastic bottle cap that I theorized turned sideways when it appeared the clog was cleared the first time) at no additional charge. After this experience, I feel Mako takes the time and effort to make sure whatever they do is done correctly and to the customer's satisfaction. I would definitely call them back.

From my initial conversation through the actual work performed, I was consoled by the fact that these were people who really cared about our situation. They were service oriented, and very professional.

A week after Sandy our heating packed up even though we had power back on. The pilot light was off and we could not get it to stay lit. Called firt sthing in th emorning and depite the fact that they must have been very busy with Sandy and also gas was difficult to get, the technician arrived that afternoon and fixed the heating by replacing the sensor. He also gave me some advice about how to save heating costs using underfloor heating and possible issue with the banging that my heating pipes work and how we could fix it. He promided to get an estimate to us on that. Very pleasant, professional and timely especially under the circumstances. I really had not expected them to be able to get to us so quickly gien all that was going on. I dont have any way of comparing on price and it wasnt cheap but I have to assume it was fair.

No complaints, all tasks have held up so far without issues.

We had a nasty stain appearing in our living room ceiling under master bathroom toilet. We called Mako and they were in a close by town so stopped by after they were done there on the same day. They took off the toilet, diagnosed the problem, gave me the estimate, fixed it and replaced toilet. tested the leak and cleaned up. They were efficient, polite and kept me informed of what was going on. They brought their own door mat to clean their feet on.

Even though I was well out of the service area , the owner was patient and listened to my nightmare situation regarding one heating company that worked by extortion , and a couple of others that simply did not show up . Rich , I believe was the owner , and after again hearing my story , agreed to help me . He took the time to allow me to explain my situation to him, then the lead technician Ricky , who was equally patient and truly listened to my situation , a rare event but very refreshing. So Ricky showed up on time just per the phone call advise from the Mako customer service individual , a very nice lady in her own right . He went right to business and it was evident to me that he was a true professional who knew every inch of my Burnham Gas Boiler system . He had the right parts with him , and fixed the issues promptly . In addition, he noticed that my system needed service , and after politely scolding me and reminding me that I should service on a regular recommended basis , he performed that service as well . Since I had an interest in understanding what the issue was I can also say that Ricky answered all of my questions , and he left me with a much better understanding of how my heating system worked . I enjoyed the coversation , and was impressed with his knowledge. MOST IMPORTANT : From the Moment I spoke with them , (after finding them on Angies List I might add ) I knew that they could be trusted , and this was a critical factor . I went from nervous about finding a solution to my heating problem, to confident that a trusted professional was on the line with me , and they came thru with flying colors . THANK YOU!

Rob was excellent, explained everything he was going to do and why and then did a great job performing his work. Everything was fixed, new faucet installed, and sink reattached to the wall. The bathroom was clean and working perfectly when he left. Rob also took the time to walk through my house, explaining different elements of my heating system and water/plumbing system. He pointed out things to keep and eye on and suggested work that needed to be done (work his company did not service/perform). Overall Rob and Mako did a great job and I would use them again.

After Mr. Gazzol asked several questions he said they do not give free estimates. He wasted several minutes of my time. Why would anyone deal with a company like that. I will not.

We could not use the sink, the garbage disposal or dishwasher which are connected via plumbing pipes and electrical installation. This happened on Sunday July 8th, I left a voice-message for Mako Plumbing that day. The appointment was setup on Monday 9th by phone, the scope of work was discussed including the need for a countertop installer, a ballpark price was provided. Tuesday 10th the Plumber was on site, he assessed the condition and confirmed an exact cost. He started the work the same morning by disconnecting the garbage disposal, plumbing pipe and removing the sink. On Wednesday the stone Countertop Installer re-attached the sink with appropriate type of connectors. The screws connecting the sink to the countertop were properly secured, screws had been left halfway into the stone countertop by original installer. The sink border was re-sealed, for waterproofing. The Plumber disconnected the electrical supply and reinstalled the garbage disposal providing new trap and fittings, he re-wired the disposal and tested all his work.While I consider the price somewhat high, I was mostly concerned with getting a qualified plumbing company that would stand behind their work. Availability to respond to an emergency was also key in this case. Both the Plumber and Countertop Installer were clearly experienced and competent. They were also courteous and left the work area clean. I am pleased with the work.

I looked up a plumbing company using the Angie's list App on my phone and Mako Plumbing came up amongst others. I called and schedule a visit with another company in Queens and decided to also give Mako a call. Rich took the time to speak to me over the phone and get more details on the problem that I was having which gave me a good feeling about this company. After speaking with Rich I called the other plumbing company and canceled the appointment. Pete was the person that came to my house to address the issue and he was very professional and took the time to first look at the problem and then wear protective booties to preserve my floors and not contaminate my house. This was extremely thoughtful being that I have a new born and spreading bacteria is a huge deal. The price was great and I felt that Pete was honest with the problem at hand which he quickly addressed. I am extremely happy with the prompt service I received and would use this company going forward.

I sent an email and received a phone call the next morning (Saturday). On Monday a serviceman arrived for an estimate and then completed the work that day. They were punctual and professional at all times. It was a pleasure to deal with this company,

What a pleasure! I called at 8, got a call back at 9, Jay was here at 10, and finished by 11! The gentleman who took my phone call was pleasant and helpful, and up-front about costs and timing. (He said that a leaking expansion tank sounded like an emergency and he would send someone right over, but didn't do anything sneaky like charge me for an emergency call.) Jay came. He was terrific. He diagnosed the problem, went out to pick up the parts and genuinely came right back, and was in and out in no time. He was very careful to put sheets down where he was working and cleaned everything up when he left. There was no clean-up job for me to do afterward! The pricing was very fair, which for plumbing, is excellent. ;) I would definitely use them again.

I called Mako on Monday and told Rich my problems. He wanted to know how I found him. Isaid Angies's List. He was happy about that. We a long phone conversation about Angie's List. He said he would send a man at 8am. He called later to confirm. Adonis came at 8. I told him I had a doctor's appointment at 10:30. I asked if he would be done by then. He said he would make sure that he was. And he was with plenty of time to spare. I was pleased with the courtesy and professionalism. I knew exactly what the repairs would be and the price before Adonis started. I would definitely use Mako again!

These problems being my first major plumbing crisis, I don't have a good sense of average fee for these things but I believe their pricing is reasonable. Moreover, for I consider a good quality workmanship more important than saving a few bucks, I'd highly recommend Mako to anyone without hesitation. Thanks Rich and Jay! I hope to not call you for a long time, but know that you'll hear from me again for any service in the future. Another thing I appreciated was a prompt response I received from Rich within a few hours of my email request, as well as a clear communication from Jay of what needed to be done and how. I did not want to replace our whole toilet and they were able to come and repair it for us. It is an older toilet and we wanted it to continue to match the decor in our bathroom so we are pleased that they were able to fix it. They were very accessible and easy to reach. They were good about returning calls as well. They were also very neat and clean.
