I called a few services. I was calling at about 3pm on a friday...Mako was very receptive, and very promising in tone. They seemed concerned that I was starting to feel desperate heading into the weekend. They told me upfront, it may take a while, no promises, but they would try to send someone out. They did...The plumber arrived actually sooner than I expected. Very cleanly dressed, and neat, very professional in tone, and attitude. He was very patient and explained all the things he found, what he expected to do, and always explained first before starting anything that wasn't discussed beforehand. Between, my mom, my wife, and my son looking in at him at various times, he was always very cool and very responsive and friendly. He was there for quite some time but we all felt good and confident with Mako services. The job was completed, and he actually called back twice over the weekend to check in on us!! I really feel good about Mako and would NOT hesitate to use their services again. An excellent firm. Jeff C.

Let me just start by saying giving an ?F? grade for a Fee is missing the point of feedback on Angie?s List. As a member I?m looking for feedback on work actually done. If there is a problem with a fee quote we all have the choice of going with another company. My experience with Mako (and work was actually done in my home) was EXCEPTIONAL! Everyone person I spoke with, from Rich the owner, Dawn who answers the phones or Ricky (the plumber who did the work), were all friendly and very helpful. Ricky came to my house, accessed the problems and explain every step of what needed to be done. He even texted me before and after pictures (as I was not home). He remained in constant contact with me and put me at ease. I had 3 separate issues (leaky kitchen sink, bad toile and clogged shaky pedestal sink). The jobs where done on 2 separate visits. Ricky provided me the option of purchase the toilet and faucet I needed and gave me the proper measurements so that I would purchase exactly what was needed. Once I purchased the items, on Ricky?s return visit, he personally pick-up the items from the plumbing store on the way back to my house and did the remaining repairs. On top of the $125 being deducted from the final price, I received my Angie?s List discount, as a first time customer. The work was completed in an efficient timely manner and all work areas were left clean as when they entered. Everyone, please don?t let the ?F? grades discourage you, Mako is an ?A? company that I will definitely use again, should the need arise. Thank you Ricky, Dawn and Rich for a painless experience!!!

They charge a $125 fee to come to your house just to give a quote. Granted, they fold that into the price if you do the work with them, but how would I know I want to use them without getting a quote? I understand in this economy that plumbers can't be running around giving quotes when they could be working and the cost of gas, but $125? I can understand charging $25 for the time but this is ridiculous. Besides, my quote isn't for a repair that they have to see, it's to install a utility sink that I already have in my basement where I already have a washer/dryer so this shouldn't take more than 5 minutes of the guy's time.

It was a great experience. We are new homeowners and were nervous about having this work done but Jay from Mako did an amazing job. He showed up on time and got right to work fixing our washing machine hookup. It required breaking up some of the floor, removing and replacing 85 years old pipes, and re-wiring our water hookup so that the water from the machine stopped going into our slop sink and instead went into the main pipes. It was a very dirty job, much more difficult than we initially thought, and it took an immense amount of effort, time, and know-how on Jay's part but he did it amazingly well and know we couldn't be happier with our washing machine hook. After all that, Jay then snaked our shower drain! We will definitely use Mako again and highly recommend them.

Richard solved a major concern I had about a potential pipe leak. He spent considerable time and effort making sure their was no leak in the house. He then fixed the leak in my outside boiler room, and added a new valve to the piping system which now provides easy access to any problems should they occure in the future. All and all an excellent job.

He came, looked at the job, had to leave to get a part, came back in a timely manner and completed the job with little mess.

The hot water tank was installed very well. The price was very high. Much higher than other quotes but we were without hot water so we were forced to pay the price. Would not use again, even in an emergency because of the high price.

Everyone, from the woman who answered my call, to the plumber who did the work, was personable, helpful and professional. I had an old dishwasher with a more recently installed kitchen floor. I'd been told by other companies that it would be a major problem, requiring removal of a large piece of flooring, cutting into cabinets, or removal of the countertop. Mako evaluated the situation, described what work would need to be done, gave me a price, with contingencies in case additional work was needed. A few hours later, my old dishwasher was out at the curb, the new one installed, with no floor or cabinet removal or damage of any kind. No mess, no drama, and well worth the price.

I called Mako plumbing to schedule an appointment to inspect my heating system for the winter. I actually got to speak to a person, Dawn, the secretary. She took my information and Richie the lead plumber called me a short time later to determine if there was an emergency. As I only needed a heating system inspection we made an appointment for a later date. The morning of the appointment I received a call informing when to expect Richie. He was exactly on time and began the inspection. He informed me of every aspect of the inspection and explained how the system works and, also, offered suggestions about how I might use the system to make it work more efficiently. His information was easy to understand and demonstrated a superior knowledge of my system. He suggested some improvements for my hot water heater, which I allowed him to make. Richie is one of the most knowledgeable and informative plumbers that I have ever had in my home. His work was very thorough, efficent and clean! I was so impressed that I hired Macko to return and work on a few plumbing projects that I was going to accomplish sometime in the future. There is no question that if I ever needed a plumber Macko Plumbing would be the company that I would call!

I reiterated that I was being referred by Angie's List and there wasn't even an acknowledgement. No estimate reduction no mention of the coupon that's on Angie's List, just it's $125.00! I'll give someone else a chance to earn my business!

After we bought our house in Queens we scouted out plumbers on Angie?s List for an oil to gas furnace conversion (the house already had gas service) and to install a tankless hot water system. Because of their positive reviews on AL we contacted Mako and they sent Rick out to provide an estimate. He was punctual, friendly and very willing to explain in detail all the ins and outs of the project. He did not baffle us with tech talk or dumb it done for us. And more than once he sketched out diagrams to make sure we understood what he was talking about. He also gave us numerous options for the different parameters of our project as well as the pros and cons of each. I did not feel pressured to go in any one direction and felt like I was making informed decisions. And at one point we showed him a problem we were having with a pipe in the basement unrelated to the furnace and Rick just fixed it on the spot. My wife and I decided to go with Mako and we are very glad that we did. Rick called several times during the project to give us updates on when he would need access to the basement and the order in which the work would be done. He and his team were punctual, well mannered and efficient. And they were all full time employees of Mako. These are important points: beware of companies that send out one guy to bid the project and then send out someone else to do the work. Second, be wary of companies that hire people off the street for a day to help with the manual labor part of the job ? that is where you can get into trouble with the security of your house. I appreciated the fact that every one who came through the door was an actual employee of the company. The entire project took a few days and every evening they tidied up before they left: they put away their tools, picked up the loose debris, etc. And during this time Rick gave me constant updates and answered my questions in plain English. When it was done the results were impressive ? the tankless systems hangs on the wall, out of the way. My wife converted the basement into a home office and getting rid of the furnace and hot water heater freed up a nice bit of space. The unexpected benefit was how quiet the unit is ? my wife is on the phone for work and there is zero background noise from the system, something that would be impossible with a regular furnace. And the performance is excellent ? we get a ton of hot water very quickly. Despite multiple showers in a row when we have had house guests we have not experienced that sinking feeling when the hot water starts to fade out while you are rinsing your hair! During the course of this project we had to contact Mako numerous times and this meant speaking to Dawn. She was efficient, friendly and very responsible. I quickly learned that if I left a message with her that Rick would get it right away. She made sure the paperwork got taken care of and that is no small thing. Its just clear that Mako is a well run operation, from the front office to the field work. My wife and I are very happy with Mako, they were professional, reliable and did a great job. I would highly recommend them, especially if you are considering a tankless system.

The leak was fixed and the basement was able to dry out. Jayson was very clean and professional . I would definitely recommend his services!

The plumber arrived at the time indicated. He assessed the problem and offered the proposed solution. The price quoted at that time was the final price. He completed the job in a professional manner. He was neat and clean and left the area in a clean condition. The service performed completely fixed the problem. We would definitely call them again for any plumbing problem. Very satisfied with the price and the work performed.

I contacted Mako on 8/7/2013 and Jayson was here within 20 minutes He diagnosed the problem as above but had to coordinate a water company shutoff , which he did . He came on 8/8/2013 and within 60-90 minutes the water was shut off by water company, the leaking ball valve replaced and flushed the line through the tub to clean out any debris in the line. Jayson is a pleasure to work with he is polite, infiorms you of events in a timely fashion and you can trust him. He was always on time and never left me waiting. As long as I live in the Long Island Area I will always call Mako. There is none better.

The plumbler Jayson from Mako arrived promptly around 8 am as scheduled and got right to work fixing our plumbing problems. Jayson was very concise describing the job that needed to be done and how he planned to fix it when giving us a quote. All in all the service from Mako and Jayson was pretty good, my plumbing issues are now fixed and the job was done clean and correctly. I would definitely recommend using this business.

He cut off the house trap cap that had been on there forever. He was able to cut off the cap and replace it. Jay was who came out was a gem! The service was well worth the price. Jay made sure all the drains were working properly before he left. He was also very clean and tidy!

They found and fixed a leak in our upstairs bathroom. They also sealed and set the toilet to the floor.

We would recommend Mako to our friends and neighbors.

I had a leak in the upper stairs toilet which caused the ceiling of the bottom bathroom to collapse. Jay came within 2 hours to give me an appraisal of the problem. He came the next day to replace damaged toilet and fix the downstairs toilet. He was punctual, clean, and checked that everything was working properly before he left. He did a fabulous job in an extremely short period of time. Would use him again.

Ricky (Richard Santoro) from Mako is a gem. He was able to quickly, with his mastery in plumbing, figure out all the things that went wrong in our house, explain it to us in non-technical terms without any bs , and fix it all. He didn't rush through the job, he took his time to make sure it was done correctly, the way all things ought to be done. Seriously... I'm super happy that we got Ricky; we're going to be life-long customers now. Thanks Ricky!

These guys are fantastic. They came in and efficiently remedied my problem. My expectations where properly managed - and I wasn't made to feel that the issue was going to require a huge amount of time and money to fix. Once the problem was identified, Jayson walked me through what needed to be done. He gave me a price up front - which I found to be reasonable. He quickly repaired the leaky pipe, cut out only the portion of the ceiling that was needed. He was super clean - left no mess at all. So, in short, if you want honest, reasonably priced, quick and clean plumbers - look no further. Straight A's from me.

Their work was very good, though the price was a bit high.

Adonis was quick and responsive. Very professional each and everytime they would enter our apartment. I would higher them again especially if you need a licensed plumber. Adonis even left some products for us to use on another project that i am going to do. Price was a little high but you will get the peace of mind that the job was done right and if it isn't they will come back and make it right.

I was very pleased with the service. Jay had a very difficult and long day, but he was finally able to get the 93 year old pipes working again. He arrived at about 8:45 in the morning, looked at the problems and provided an estimate. He kept me informed about progress and problems encountered. He worked straight through until after 6 at night. He used two different sized machines to snake through the lines repeatedly until the sewer line stoppage was permanently cleared. The 60 year old kitchen pipes also presented more of a problem than anticipated, but again Jay persevered and was able to replace several sections to get things working properly. Another company (NOT from Angie's List) had worked on the sewer line problem about 2 weeks earlier and the blockage seemed to be cleared but was back within 48 hours. They gave me no warning that it might be necessary to cover things and then made an awful mess of the basement. Jay brought his own drop cloths and left everything neat and clean. It has been more than a week now and everything is working very well. I will certainly use Mako for any plumbing needs from now on.

Mako was very responsive. came same day to give an estimate for the job but required a $125 charge for the estimate. Jayson was very professional and prompt and arrived as scheduled the next day to do the work . Very satisfied with the plumbing which looks well done and all work was done as promised. I gave a C rating for cost because the fee charged for estimate and because overall price was higher than other estimates we had for the job, even with angies list coupon. Mako wasn't the cheapest but we hope was worth it. Thanks
