These guys are great! My call to make an appointment was promptly returned by the office and an appointment was made at my convenience. The day before the appointment, Rich and Jay called to discuss what the problem was with my faucet. They spent quite a long time on the phone with me - Rich asked many questions, he and Jay listened carefully to the "story" of what had happened, and carefully and thoroughly explained best case and not-so-good case scenarios that might be encountered when they got here and investigated the problem directly. We discussed options in detail and I felt very prepared for whatever might be the outcome of their house call. Jay and Ted arrived promptly and were courteous, professional, thorough and clearly expert at what they do. They didn't rush, they were careful as they worked, and they worked cleanly, showing great respect for my property. They took their time explaining everything to me. This was an outstanding experience and I wouldn't hesitate to use Mako again myself, and I recommend them without reservation.

I have been using Mako for over 2 years and absolutely loved them until today. My experience with them up until today have been pleasant. Their service guys are nice guys and are honest and friendly. Plus the work they do is professional and trustworthy. I Called them yesterday to give me a quote over the phone to replace some spindles in the shower and they responded with sure, no problem we'll send someone over to look at it and give you a price. The man came when he said he would and gave me a quote for a quick fix and a quote for a larger longer lasting fix. BOTH were super expensive (but I am used to this with them and know that I will be paying a hefty price for good service). I told them I would have to think about it and I'll get back to them by tomorrow. The service man said, no problem. . .that'll be $125 service fee. I told him there was no way I was paying for that as there was no service done and this was supposed to be just a quote. (now if i would have them do the work right there and then, they wouldn't charge me a service fee). Why couldn't they give me there standard quote over the phone? The service man called the owner, and the owner wanted to speak to me. After I said there was a misunderstanding and I wasn't paying $125 for them to give me a quote, he said no problem, please don't call us again. I said you are going to lose a good customer and a referring customer over this? He said there are other plumbers out there and to use them instead. NO PROBLEM MAKO. NEVER AGAIN.

Our 2nd floor bathroom tub had a huge leak and the water wouldn't drain. It started damping our kitchen ceiling. Ricky from MAKO came, did a thorough analysis and without creating more damage than absolutely needed replaced the whole plumbing. The pricing was fair for all the hard work and parts involved. He had a great patience to explain us each and every issue and what he was doing and what we need to prepare. Very nice job! Thank you!

From start to finish they were nothing less than professional. They returned phone calls, were helpful in providing information, consistent and fair in pricing, and professional to the end. Addonis came and was the utmost professional. I appreciated the office calling back to coordinate a time that worked for our work schedules. We would definitely use them again!

They came they saw and they conquered. Discovered my water heater was leaking. Called Mako and they responded very quickly and came out on MLK holiday. Addonis was very professional and patient in answering all my questions. I also asked them to install a whole house water filter as well. I've dealt with Mako several times before and although they are pricey you definitely get what you pay for and then some. I'm paying for peace of mind and not to have to hassle these guys to come back and refix something. I tried giving Addonis a tip and he woulndn't have it. (where do they do that at?) Good job again by Mako!

Above all else, I found Mako to be responsible, responsive and professional- a far cry from many others in the business. The initial response was quick (thankfully, as we had no heat), the diagnose correct and the sizing and planning for the new system was done timely. They came back as promised, were extremely friendly, knowledgable and courteous, and did a neat and professional installation (I had a friend in the business review photos of the piping, etc, and it was done extremely well). I actually found an old quote from keyspan from ~8 years ago and it was a couple thousand less, but for a less efficient boiler and water heater. So Mako might be on the high side, but adjusting for 8 years and the fact that Mako has really top notch pros working for them, I think thats a wash at worst. All in all, these are the guys I would send to my Mom's or kids houses if I wanted to sleep well knowing the job was done correctly and safely. I would also point out that these installations are inherently hazardous as the equipment is heavy, there are gas and electric lines, and of course hot water or steam. The last thing you need is having some goofballs in your house getting hurt, or hurting you. Mako guys know what they are doing and thats one less thing to worry about. Worth every penny.

I called at 10:15am on Monday and spoke to the receptionist about getting service for a leaking valve for the pipes near the boiler. The receptionist said someone would be there within the hour. The service person (Adonis) from Mako was here by 11:05am. (This attentive service was a good start since I had previously called another place in my town last Tuesday requesting service, and they had given me a date of Friday evening to come check out the matter.) After diagnosing the problem (zone valve needed replacement) and telling me what would need to be done, I accepted the plan (shut off hot water line, drain it, change valve) and the service person went right to work. He was very kind, polite and answered all my questions. The work took about one hour. After finishing the job, he recommended I make an appointment for servicing of the boiler. I'm thankful that the leaking valve is now fixed. A few days later, I spoke with my teacher (who owns a plumbing & heating business) about this and he told me that the part itself costs $30. That would leave labor costs at $475 (or 600 - 125 fee to come to the home and diagnosis - $30 for the actual zone valve. They gave me 50 off the price as a first time customer, but the tax on the price was $47 and change).

First of let me say that overall working with Mako was wonderful experience. As first time home buyers we had initially called Mako to come in and get our heating system ready for the winter. Our system is extremely old and at some point would need replacement. This is all complicated by the fact that we have 2 heating systems (old steam and "newer" hot water system). We did a great deal of work with other contractors moving before we moved in and we were already on guard in case we heard / felt that we couldn't trust the work that we needed done. After easily making an appointment with Dawn, Ricky showed up at our door on time and ready to offer us all the help and guidance we needed. Ricky quickly assessed the system(s) and provided us what we felt was the best option to get us up and running for the winter. What I think I liked the most is that he took his time to explain all the options available and what would be the most cost efficient / most bang for our buck. He certainly pointed out that our systems needed replacement but he never tried to oversell us on the fact that it needed replacement prior to the start of the heating systems. During that first job we opted for the cleaning the system, fixing a radiator leak, replacing two dated thermostats, and replacing a number valves to get the systems breathing right. Ricky actually took the time to walk my wife and I through the existing system and advise us on how to care for our aging systems. We did ask for an estimate and options for replacing the hot water boiler which as anyone could tell was powered by what looked like the first A.O. Smith model on record. With a few days we received our estimate which contained three options which were a good mix of both price and features. Ricky followed up with a call to find out if we had any questions about the estimates and after answering a plenty of questions he advised us that there was "No rush" and to wait till the season started to see how comfortable we were in the house with the system in place. In November, we felt like the part of the house with the hot water system was fluctuating in temperature and called Ricky to talk about the options yet again. We ended up going with the higher end option of a condensing boiler that handled not only the domestic hot water in the house but also the half of the house (4 large rooms) heated by the hot water system. Ricky assured us that it would provide the heat needed and handle up to 3 simultaneous fixtures (showers, dishwasher, etc) begin used as well as providing huge efficiency increases. The installation took 3 days and Mako showed up every day on time, worked the entire day and kept in constant contact with me and my wife about progress and any issues that came up. It was evident through this job that Ricky loves his craft and everyday gave my wife and I a lesson about what was completed. The work was professional, clean and our basement pipe work looks better and cleaner then before they came. Even after the job was completed Ricky followed up to check in and make sure everything was running as expected. I can say that the without a doubt this was the best option for us and we are able to do basically whatever we want with the hot water and have never had a dip of temperature when taking a shower and any other other fixture in the house. Even in the coldest arctic vortex weather we have had this winter we are warm and have not a complaint with Mako or our new Embassy condensing boiler.

Had a similar problem earlier this month that Mako took care of. We did our due diligence about leaving the water dripping during the evenings to prevent frozen pipes. However, on this particular day, we used the faucet all through the morning making breakfast and washing dishes. By, 11:30am, the pipe froze again. How can it possibly freeze that quickly? Called Mako again and got a callback within the hour and Otto arriving at our house shortly afterwards. After he thawed the pipe, we talked about why this is happening and he believes that the contractor who did the renovation in our house did not insulate the cold water pipe (but probably insulated the hot water pipe). We obviously have a bigger problem that Mako cannot resolve without taking down kitchen cabinets and ripping open the drywall behind it. We agreed to keep doing what we're doing and when the weather gets warmer to reassess and reinvestigate more thoroughly.

The pipes started leaking. Update: 1/31/2014 Mako was able to return and fix the problem promptly, the pipes work great now and I am happy with their service.

We had a basement sink in the laundry room that was backed up. In my naivete I thought a regular snake would do the trick, but alas, it did not. I read the many reviews of Mako and decided to give them a try. I was very impressed by my initial phone contact with the company. They couldn't fit me in that same day but promised someone would be there the next day, Friday, and he would call me back and let me know what time. He called within minutes and promised to have someone at my house by 9.30am. When the guy arrived, punctually (sorry, don't remember his name) he quoted a price of $320 for clearing it. He went to work and eventually found that the problem was much bigger. The main drain to the street was clogged and it would be extra to clear it. I had no problem with that. He explained everything in detail and showed me exactly where the problem was. I appreciated that he wanted me to be clear on what needed to be done. The eventual cost was $380, which I thought was more than reasonable for the amount of work he did. It was not a pleasant job. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

I had suspicions going into the end of last year that something was off with my steam boiler. Primarily, it seemed to be draining quicker than it should be. On the night of Dec 30 my boiler stopped working. Turns out the pilot light went out. Thinking ahead I knew that the temperatures were going to drop during the next few days, in addition to New Years Day coming up, so I figured getting someone to fix a potential problem might be difficult. Since it was after hours, Mako was closed till the morning, so I left a message for them. I then searched an emergency service to come over and get my heat working again. Another plumber came and restored the pilot (work and parts replacements , $500+). Rich at Mako did call the next morning to check in, but as the heat was on at that point, we told him all was ok. Long story short, the boiler wound up going off several more times and as we had paid the emergency service twice for work to "fix" the problem, so they were married to the problem. They wound up coming over 4 times! Finally I had enough and knew this guy wasn't going to fix it. I called Mako again on Saturday morning early and left a message, with a desperate and frustrated tone. The guys called me back within a few hrs and said that even though they do not work on weekends would come out to check the situation. Rick ring my bell about an hr or so later. Within a few minutes he regretfully said that my boiler was done, all indications that there's was a crack/leak in the crown of the boiler. I was less concerned about the cost as the possible prospect of having no heat for several more days when the temperature was expected to drop to near ZERO. My man RICK said he knew what the situation was and offered to install a new Steam boiler. He said he could mobilize a crew, get all the needed material and get a scrap company to haul away the old boiler. RICK worked most of Saturday and into Sunday evening. New Boiler & Heat! He did a great job. Overall, that kind of customer service goes a long way in my book,and one, I do not forget. The MAKO name is sealed in my phone. Thanks again, guys.

Mako was great. They sent Jayson, who took the time to walk us through every step on what he was doing. He quoted a price before he began and did a great job.

Everything went very well. Jay, the plumber from Mako took time to discuss and assess the problems I was having and suggested what could be done to fix it. He went over the price with me and made sure I was fine with everything before proceeding. He took care of the work in a prompt and professional manner and I was very satisfied with the end results.

Mako arrived at about 8:00am and worked basically all day long without a lunch break until they were able to locate the frozen section and thaw out the pipe and replace the damaged section.

Jay arrived promptly and was very professional. He explained the problem, what he would do to solve it, and what the cost would be. When he finished, he again explained everything to me. All radiators are working well now. My only dissatisfaction is that the price seemed high.

This morning I woke to find that I had frozen pipes to the toilet, sink and shower in my downstairs bathroom. I had used Mako once before (on an Angie's list recommendation) and had found them to be quick, fair and efficient, so I called them again today. I was told that Jay would be here within an hour and he turned up in 30 minutes. He located the blockage and heated the pipes to melt the ice and I was back in business. I can't speak highly enough of their service.

I originally called in the evening on New Year Day. Within the hour Rich called and we set up an appointment for after seven AM the next day. Jayson arrived and worked until we had to leave hat 9:30 am. He came back, with a helper Ted, to complete the job. Jayson explained everything along the way. Both men were respectful, professional and neat!

I hired Mako; after 45 minutes, they were unable to complete the job. My contractor eventually was able to successfully finish the job. I'm on the fence about using them again. While the drain was severely clogged, I'm surprised that they weren't able to do it, while my contractor (not his area of expertise) was.

Came down this morning and noticed that the cold water was not working in the kitchen. All other faucets were ok. Worried that I had a frozen pipe that could burst, I hopped on Angieslist to find a plumber. Found Mako with over 100+ reviews while all the other ones had less than 20. Called and spoke to Richie. I explained my problem and he started going into detail about what the likely culprit would be and actually gave me a quote over the phone. Had a guy (Otto) at my house IN LESS THAN AN HOUR FROM WHEN I CALLED. Amazing. Otto was prompt and set to work right away. He looked around and made a diagnosis and went to work. Thawed out the pipe and water was flowing. Checked all around to ensure that nothing burst. He also gave me a detailed explanation of what happened, why it happened, and how it can be avoided. Both Richie and Otto were true professionals. I will not hesitate to call them again or refer them to my friends and family. Thanks Mako!

I'm not going to lie I've been seeing Mako Plumbing adds on TV since I was a young girl and was pleasantly surprised to see them on Angie's List with rave reviews no less. I had an excellent experience with Rich Santoro who first came to look at our plumbing. He was so excited about our original American Standard toilets and that our 1957 plumbing was working. He is a third generation plumber and that's exactly what I'm looking for in a plumber. Loving the trade. Our plumbing just needed some TLC in some very specific spots. I called Mako Plumbing back a few times and dealt with the owner Richard and another plumber Justin. Great experiences all around. And the workmanship was great. Since I couldn't see their work until several weeks and a few business trips later. Fantastic work!! Angie's List completely aided in rescuing my family from what could have been a very bad situation. Instead our very bad situation turned into a less than ideal situation and for that we are completely grateful. After the news of a relative passing in the winter of 2013 my family and I had inherited a home that had been in our family since the 1950's. The home was in rough shape but salvageable and structurally in good condition; however the closest family member was at least 2.5 hours away. I am happy to report that the home went on the market in the summer of 2013 and we just closed on the home December of 2013. I know none of this wouldn't have been possible without the staff at Mako plumbing and the Angie's List community. Andrea V.

I would definitely use Mako again and still do have an issue with one of my showers which I plan to have fixed in the near future and will use them again. I would even request Jayson if he was available to do the job. He took his time and was very thorough.

The technician Ted was very professional. He informed us about all of our options and the cost. Eventhough the water did not back up whike he was there, we decided to snake the lines anyway to avoid another late night flooding. The diagnostic service call was $125 which was rolled into the cost of the work done.

I called and spoke with Rob--very professional and accomodating. He set-up an appointment for the same afternoon. HE sentJayson who arrived on time. He explained the $125.00 service call. If I do use them this money is applied to the job. I accepted. He had to work for 2-solid hours. He explained everything along the way. Jayson was very neat and professional. When finished he accepted a 10% coupon, which i printed off of the Angies List website. I was and am still very happy with my experience. THANK YOU ANGIE.
