If you like overpriced plumbers then M&M is the company for you. Beware, there is a 2 hour minimum for any service call plus an outrageous $150 fee for any equipment they use. $600 + to snake a toilet. You will get a "RATE INFORMATION & ACCEPTANCE FORM" before the service call, don't sign it and find a different plumber. It's their way of getting you on the hook before they send the bill.

What a disaster! They fixed the leak fine, then the job went sideways. They reinstalled a toilet that had been removed years go, reattaching it to an existing stack. We supplied the toilet and a new flushometer. They declared the job complete. Once they left we discovered that the toilet did not flush with enough force to clear the bowl. I called them to come back to get it working properly. They returned and replaced a gasket. Once they left, water started shooting out all the joints in the flushometer. They came back again and installed a cap for the diaphragm. It STILL didn't work. In the mean time, they sent a bill for more than $2,800 including charges for the return visits to fix their bad work and $480 for materials. You could buy 2 brand new toilets and flushometers for $480! I emailed and called about both the need to get the toilet working and about the outrageous bill. They sent yet another plumber "at no charge" who concluded that the problem was that the toilet was old. It STILL doesn't flush adequately. As for the bill, they continued to send the original invoice for the full amount. I asked for a bill listing the hours worked and itemizing the materials and said that we would not pay for the return visits to fix work they declared complete after the first visit. They sent the same bill again. I calculated the hours they actually worked (at the outrageous rate of $250 per hour and time and a half after 4:30) and substantially more than the cost of the materials they supplied, itemized it all and sent it along with a check for that amount ($1,400). They cashed the check and then sent a bill for the full amount to a collection agency. We may very well end up going to court over this. In the mean time, we've contracted with a different plumber who will supply and install a whole new toilet for a quarter of what M & M charged.
Description of Work: Repaired a leak and reinstalled a toilet (badly).

Response from M & M PLUMBING & HEATING
As discussed with [member name removed] on several occasions, she had been confusing the two toilets we had performed work on. Each time we revisited, per her request, we reassessed the issue and came to the same conclusion. [member name removed] was provided the same explanation of needing to have the toilet replaced. To further explain, Toile # 1 was an old toilet that had been in use and was then disconnected and kept in storage on site. Toilet # 2 was a brand new toilet installation. After several years of being in storage we were hired to reinstall Toilet # 1 with a new flushometer on an existing line that had been capped off. [member name removed] complained of a lack of water pressure from Toilet # 2 when the toiled was flushed. We returned and found Toilet # 2 to be working properly, however, we made an adjustment to the water pressure on Toilet # 1 and explained that we recommend replacing this toilet. After this, [member name removed] complained that Toilet # 2 was leaking. Again we returned and found that Toilet # 2 was in proper working order and that Toilet # 1 now has too much pressure, causing water to splash when the toilet is flushed several times, not a leak from the installation itself. We explained to [member name removed] that her toilet (Toilet # 1) would need to be replaced to a current, compatible model. The old toilet either has low water pressure and doesn’t properly flush or has too much water pressure causing the water to splash and create a puddle on the ground after several flushes. When [member name removed] called to speak with myself, she provided her understanding of the plumbing work and, still dissatisfied, we sent our Mechanics over in hopes to resolve this once and for all. Again, they came to the same conclusion, the (2) toilets were being mixed up. [member name removed] was under the impression that we were returning to work on Toilet # 2, the brand new toilet that had been installed and was in perfect working order. [member name removed] was not charged for this additional trip out of courtesy. However, our findings on every occasion have never varied: the toiled needs to be replaced. The conclusion of our last conversation left us both in agreement that [member name removed] had been confusing Toilet #1 and Toilet # 2 for each other. If we had been incorrect in our findings, we would have gladly rectified the issue. We provide a service and pay our employees to provide that service to our customers. We repeatedly returned to explain that the toilet would need to be replaced. This was continuously overlooked and [member name removed] told several people in our office that we were incorrect. Yet, after our final visit, she understood that the toilet would need to be replaced which had been explained several times before. In addition, she was provided with a breakdown of hours and material on the original invoice as well as each copy of the invoice thereafter. Labor: $2,145.00. Material: $480.00. [member name removed] would also not allow any work to begin until 1:00pm or later. As explained to her each and every time an appointment was requested, any work performed after 4:00pm is billed at an overtime rate (1 ½ times the regular rate). [member name removed] was also informed that since she did not want to schedule a 9:00am appointment, we could not guarantee a start time since it is dependent upon the work performed prior to hers. With all of that information in mind, she requested to have each appointment be at or after 1:00pm regardless. Note: In total, we spent 5 ½ Regular Rate Hours and 6 ½ Overtime Rate Hours. (12 Hours Total) [member name removed] was willed as follows: 10 Regular Rate Hours and 2 Overtime Rate Hours. (12 Hours Total) This was done as a courtesy prior to any complaints from [member name removed]. Please be advised that we have signed work orders from each visit as well as GPS tracking which provides time and date stamps of our vehicles. Sincerely, Maxine Sgouros Manager
