Description of Work: I used Home Tile on several occasions and thought they were reputable but found out differently in December 2008. I purchased marble from them to renovate two bathrooms. In Sept '08 I ordered one marble vanity top, 6 marble shelves and 2 door saddles and was FAXed a a bill for approx. $644. which I told the owner to charge to my master card. I had not received the merchandise yet. The marble vanity top was delivered to my contractor while I was on vacation. It was supposed to be the same marble, Bottachino, that I purchased for the floors and walls. When I arrived home, I found the marble vanity top was a totally different marble and didn't match the walls or floor. I contacted Home Tile the next day and told the owner that the marble was wrong. I also hadn't received the other items on the order. He said he would take care of it and he later told me that the fabicators had used the wrong piece of marble and not the piece that had my name on the back of it. He said the shelves and door saddles were also done in the wrong marble though they had not been delivered. The owner, Theo, told me to come to his marble fabricator and pick out a piece of Bottachino marble. I brought a sample piece of marble from the floor and I selected a piece that matched. The new marble was going to be used for 2 vanity tops, 6 shelves and 2 door saddles. A couple of weeks later they delivered and installed the new vanity tops and delivered the shelves and door saddles. At that time they took back the vanity top that had been made in the wrong marble. That day I received a call from Home Ttile saying that the new charge would be $1,089. I said there must be some mistake because I had already paid for one vanity top, shelves and saddles. When I finally spoke to the owner, he told me that the marble I had picked out was more expensive than the original one. I said that I had never been told that and the original quote that I had been given was $250 for each vanity top and I had already paid $644 for the first order. The owner asked me what I thought would be a fair price and I said I would pay an additional $700 even though I really didn't think that was fair but I wanted to resolve the matter. I sent him a check for $700 but when I received my December Master Card bill I found that he had used my credit card and charged me the $1,089 without my authorization. I have been going back and forth with Citi Aadvantage Master Card since December 2008 but was finally told that they couldn't do anything because it was my word against the merchants. I waited this long to put in my report because I thought that the issue would be resolved amicably but unfortunately the owner of this busines is not an honorable man. He lied to Master Card about what occurred and made up a dummy bill which he had never given me. Do not deal with this merchant because he does not live up to his word and cheats his customers.
