My contractor told me to get him tile for the kitchen demo. within 48 hours I searched for what I wanted at a price & in stock. One morning I called Home Art Tile & spoke with one of the three sales people. I explained what I was looking for and he said they had something that fit my description. After work I ran to Astoria and, yes in fact, what they had to offer was exactly what I had envisioned and within my budget. I purchased what I needed and set up a delivery time. When we finished with the transaction, they asked me what I was doing for cabinetry. I told them I was going to install an Ikea kitchen. They said they could beat the price so I said "OK, lets put something together." I worked with them to maximize my small kitchen, the end result was I got cabinets I actually liked the look of - which Ikea didnt have, and they beat the price by $500.00. They customized cabinetry for me, gave me a great price on both the zero radius sink I coveted and quoted me a great price on the honed marble counter I dreamed of. We were greeted almost immediately by a friendly sales representative (Mike?) who asked for all the details of the job we were doing. He was attentive to the color scheme and style of the bathroom before offering any suggestions. Once he had an idea of what we were looking for, he helped us pick out tile step by step (and let us know how he felt it would be most appropriate to proceed). He was not only concerned about what we wanted, but also offered suggestions regarding durability and practicality of materials. The whole process went quickly, which was impressive given the two hours my husband and I spent at a large chain hardware and supply store the evening before, only to leave without purchasing anything because we became so overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. The pricing was comparable to the hardware store (where we had shopped for materials for previous renovations and part of this renovation because they are very reasonably priced and usually offer high quality options), but the selection was much better and the staff far more knowledgable and helpful. The store also had most of the tile in stock and rush ordered the only thing that they didn't, which was a relief because the renovation is a last minute ordeal as a result of emergency repairs to our condo. The tile they ordered was delivered on the day they said it would be; unlike other stores that ask you to wait 7-10 business days, they were able to get us the tile in 3.
