We hired Chris at Elegant Estates in 2024 for a job involving house washing and paver restoration. I was amazed by his dedication, energy, and professionalism. I have not received such excellent service from any other home improvement contractor. Planning the job weeks ahead of time was effortless. Chris has an efficient online system for communicating about estimates. He arrived at the appointed time with one assistant, and they worked meticulously all day. At the end he gave an honest explanation of the factors involved and his decisions. Every aspect of the job was done to the highest standard. He is a rare contractor that I would trust to do a job when I wasn’t present.
Description of Work: Wash exterior of two-story house. Clean out gutters. Clean paver walkway. Clean concrete walkway. Level sunken spot in paver walkway.
We are thrilled with the work that Chris/Elegant Estates has just completed for us. From design to implementation to completion, Chris was highly professional and easy to work with. He knew we had a specific date for a special event at our home and made sure to complete the work on time. The plantings are exquisite – and the pavers are perfect. Many friends, neighbors and passersby have commented on the beauty of the new landscaping. One remarked that she had never seen a house receive a “face-lift” as transformative as this one. We are grateful to have found Elegant Estates and highly recommend Chris to you without reservation!

Fantastic! He did a great job, was responsive and professional and willing to share his knowledge and tips. We are super pleased with the results!
Description of Work: Cleaning out polymeric sand and reapplying new on a porch with pavers
Extremely well. Most of the work was accomplished very professionally and thoroughly by the owner himself, Chris Negley. Occasional good assistance by Chris' daughter Maddie. Chris is so busy at this time of year that my only complaint is that I had to wait a while to "get him here." Once here, he wasted no time, but still emphasized thoroughness and professionalism.
Description of Work: Sort of a "spring cleanup plus": weeding, landscaping, plant transfer, exterior washing, crushed marble installation, trash hauling

Outstanding. Very fair price. Very efficient and completed job in timely manner. Job was reviewed in depth with me when it was completed. Awesome customer service
From the first moment I engaged Chris Negley and his team at Elegant Estates to today, this firm has been simply outstanding to work with. They were able to help me turn the outside of a property I bought five years ago into an oasis where my family loves to spend time. What was an awkward multi-level yard with crumbling decades-old rock walls leading to the lower level is now a three tier terraced outdoor living area with gorgeous trees, lush plantings, a beautiful built-in grill, both dining and seating areas and a fire pit we love to use on those cool summer nights. Low voltage lighting comes on in the evenings, lighting the area with ambiance. The stairs are wide, easy to navigate and beautiful to look at as you are walking out from the house. Simply gorgeous. They did such a great job that we brought them back the following year to attack the crumbling concrete driveway in the front, and now I have a stunning water-permeable paver driveway that is not only awesome as the water from above us on the mountain no longer rushes across my lawn (having sunk into the gravel bed below the pavers) but is also a gorgeous look from the street. They built planters and added lighting, and have sensor under the pavers that will be connected this year to turn on and heat the driveway when it snows - no more shoveling for me! EE does a phenomenal job. Chris listens, draws up plans that can be delivered in a single job or through multiple over the years, and his crew is great. I trust them completely to do quality work, and to care more about doing what is right for us as a family than to make the most on a job. I would turn to them time and again for work - they are just that good. Thank you Chris, Tyler, John and team - you are outstanding.
Description of Work: n 2014 Elegant Estates gutted the decrepit rock wall in our backyard that led to the lower yard, excavated and installed a multi-tier water permeable paver terrace, patio and dining area, installed a grill and built a fire pit, and installed irrigation and lighting. In 2015, we brought them back to build a fence, construct a new modern shed, build a paver path to the front yard, and demolish the old driveway and porch and create a new one from water-permeable pavers. They also landscaped the area, installed low-voltage lighting in front, and built planters.

They were right on time showing up for the estimate and very professional. They next day they even came out to run levels and check the slope of the area to ensure that there would be proper drainage for the change in elevation. They provided a detailed quote and plan for the work. I'm quite certain that the job would have been beautiful and structurally sound, but it was simply out of my budget for this project. I wouldn't completely rule them out as a contractor in the future should I have need of this type of work again.

This was a new construction house finished in the summer of 2009. We were left with a horrible mess of mud, stones and rocks with not one blade of grass. It was impossible to take the dog out any door without him walking through mud or dirt. We interviewed 3 landscapers and Elegant Estates won us over with their design, professionalism and friendliness. They were not the cheapest quote, but we have never regretted hiring them; they are well worth the extra money! They came in and turned our disaster yard into a magazine picture. We wanted a more formal look in the front and a casual entertaining area in the back. They showed up on time and worked very hard the entire time they were here. I could not have asked for anything more out of them. We feel we got far more than we bargained for. In fact, I have already contracted for work in 2010. On a 1 - 10 scale, Elegant Estates is a 10. Knowledge = A+, Imagination = A+, Execution = A+, Follow up = A+, Niceness = A+++
Description of Work: Designed the entire landscaping project after interviewing for likes/dislikes & then made changes based on our wants. Laid a curving stone block front walk way, laid an extremely large, curved stone block patio in the back, graded the yard, combed the yard for stones, seeded the yard, built a 2500 gallon koi pond with a stone block bridge "cutting" the pond in two and a double split waterfall, planted bushes, trees, plants, installed a rain barrel, tied all the downspouts to either the rain barrel or together to the yard. Also, before winter fertilized the yard, removed the pond pumps and installed a winter pump and took in the rain barrel.

The initial impression of the company had been a good one, as they seemed eager to begin work and returned our call quickly. Things began to go awry when they decided to drop by to survey the property to give us an estimate on a moment's notice at 7:30 on a Thursday night when we weren't available to show them what we were interested in. It seemed we were on the same page when they delivered the estimate via phone message the following day, so we went ahead and called back to schedule. We left a message, as they never answer their phone, only respond to messages. They called back at 6:30 Friday night and left a message to let us know they would probably be able to work us in in a week, perhaps a week and a half, and to call back during the week to make an official appointment. Monday morning at 8:30, two young men arrive unannounced to work on the lawn. The lawn was cut unevenly, and left much longer than we'd have liked, nearly untouched in areas that would have required that they use a smaller piece of equipment than the Mini-Cooper-sized lawnmower they use primarily. The "Spring Clean-Up" left much to be desired as well, with many leaves still left in flower beds, and much of the fall's growth not cut down or pruned to make way for new growth. When we called the place to discuss our concerns, they agreed to meet with us on Friday morning to be shown what we had an issue with. We scheduled for 9am, and though the fellow had preferred to come at 8:30 he said he would do his best to not arrive early, making sure we knew he was going out of his way to accommodate our unavailability at 8:30. We waited for them to arrive until 9:35am, when we couldn't put off going to work any longer, and after a few calls to them went unanswered. That evening we received a message on our home machine indicating that they had waited for half an hour for us, that cutting the lawn shorter at all was something they preferred not to do as it is apparently bad for the lawn, but they did it again anyway without actually speaking with us. The message left also indicated that the leaves and plant debris left in the beds was not considered part of a "Spring Clean-up", despite the fact that the first 85% of the leaves and debris they removed apparently were included in a "Spring Clean-up". The billing was done informally via e-mail, and the agreement for service didn't even include a handshake, since we never met with or received and signed a service contract.

Response from ELEGANT ESTATES
Elegant Estates Strives to please all of our customers. This has led to a multitude of positive testimonials as well as an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. In this case, Elegant Estates received a call from this client in early May 2009. They requested a leaf cleanup, which we explained included leaf cleanup in the yard and removal from the property. This sounded good to them and we proceeded to set up a meeting with this client. I had mentioned that one of our salesman drives by their house on his way home at night and that he could meet with them after work on Thursday and he would call them before he left from the office. He did, and left to meet with them after 7:00 on Thursday evening. Once our salesman arrived to survey the property, he received no response from the house after repeated attempts, and proceeded to quote the cleanup as they requested over the phone. I mentioned on the phone with them originally that we typically do not service this area for leaf cleanup, however, our Monday turf maintenance routes were the closest to his residence and I would be happy to have them service the property the following Monday if desired. We received a call on Sunday (when closed) that they would like to go ahead with the leaf cleanup and Monday would be okay. We sent our crew over to complete the cleanup. Our salesman also accompanied the crew to ensure that the work was being done as agreed upon over email, which was the preferred method of communication and billing when we presented that option during our first contact. My bidder called me about whether we should clean the leaves from what he thought could be perimeter beds along the property line but was not sure as they were FULL of tall weeds, and he mentioned that it could possibly be just a neglected area. I instructed them to get as many leaves as possible from that area anyhow. Our salesman tried knocking at the door multiple times during their visit to verify that services were satisfactory before leaving the property. No one answered the door! If someone was there watching our crew work and what equipment we were supposedly using, why wasn’t the door answered to address any questions our crew had to ensure satisfaction was met? We received a complaint about the service completed; more specifically the “beds” having perennials from last season in them that were not cut back and weeds that were not pulled. I had once again explained to them that they agreed to a leaf cleanup, not a general spring bed and yard cleanout, which would have included the cutback that they were referring to. We addressed their complaint about the grass blades being uneven, and explained to them that the lawn surface was too uneven which led to a choppy cut due to the mowing deck having to be raised in order to not harm the turf, and that mowing was simply a by-service, if you will, of bagging the leaves. Lowering the deck more would have harmed the turf. We receive very little to no complaints at Elegant Estates every year which is why we address any complaint seriously and try to rectify the situation. I scheduled a meeting with the same salesman who initially quoted the work, and the client, to see what additionally they were expecting from the work. We scheduled the meeting for 9:00 A.M. one morning and it was the customer who, once again, chose not to answer the door! My bidder called the office after waiting for them for more than a half an hour and I told him to leave for his next appointment. I am offended that this client claims that we were late for their appointments when we have built our client base from being personal, professional, timely, affordable, and skilled at what we do. Since we wanted them to have a good experience with us, I arranged for the crew to re-visit the property and clean all of the leaves up in the “beds”, which was not part of the original estimate, four days later. When trying to contact them after our second visit to verify work was “satisfactory”, and to contact me if there was anything else they desired, I received no response. A bill was submitted via email, which was the billing method that they preferred, and payment was made. I understood this complaint as being resolved due to the absence of response and payment being made in full. Please visit our website to see what our other customers have to say about us! Thank you.
