When I first used Angie's list I was thrilled to get a call from Dayna with Square Deal in about 5 minutes of my search for a piano mover on this site. She offered a better price than other movers $250. She was very nice from the initial contact, and called me with an earlier time change for the move on 11/21/18 and told me I didn't need to be there for the movers as long as someone was there. I was there for the delivery since it was a surprise early Christmas gift for my daughter. There were 3 movers; 1 guy didn't talk and the other 2 were very cordial. When they brought it into the house I noticed big gouges in the wood on both sides of the piano were they had the lifting straps. I told Matt the main moving guy and he said "They were there when we picked it up". I knew the vintage piano had old scratches on it but not gouges. Of course, I didn't take pictures when I had bought the piano (dumb). He produced the bill which neglected to have my down payment on it and then used the iphone square for payment and asked for a tip. I did not tip since there was questionable damage. After they left I was able to get in touch with with the seller and she said she did not recall there being any gouges but it did have the old scratches which both my daughter and I had see on the original day we saw it. She told me the movers took pictures before they loaded the piano onto the truck. I could not believe that the movers did not show me the pictures that they took when I questioned the gouges! I called Dayna back right away and she said she would talk to the movers and get a before the move picture and call me right back. To make a long story short, I never received photos and I did not receive a call back so I called them back on 11/29/18 I was told by Dayna that the pictures were deleted. I told her that I have pictures of the piano on day of delivery and would be happy to send them to her. Apparently I was on speaker phone and a very rude man named Jeff, who did not identify himself until I asked, jumped into the conversation and told me that the movers take hundreds of pictures and they can't possibly keep them all. He glossed over my response to him that smart phones have a deleted file area to retrieve the deleted pictures so there was not reason they could not obtain these to justify that they did not cause the damage. He proceeded to ask me questions about where exactly is the damage on the piano. I told him I could send him pictures but I want the picture of the piano when it was picked up. ( I was not able to be there for the picture at the sellers home because of the time change.) Jeff who is a fast talking man of MANY words said that the movers are not responsible for damage and that I need to contact my home owners insurance for coverage but there is basically a $500 deductible. He then proceeded to babble on about how "since the days of the ancient Romans" have been moving large blocks and buildings etc the movers are never liable. I told him I want the pictures as proof that Square Deal Movers did not cause the damage. I must admit that I did end of hanging up on him because my opinion and concerns were not addressed. He really did not care. They job was done and they got their money. I was later contacted by Dayna via text asking if I wanted Matt, the mover to call me. I said not I just want the pictures rather than a phone call. That was 11/29/18 and I still have not received the pictures or any addition apology or money back. It is now almost one month from the day of the delivery of the piano which was an early Christmas present by the way. I will never use this company again and I certainly do NOT recommend their services.
