POORLY. FLOOR SANDING WAS UNEVEN RESULTING IN RIPPLING, ONE AREA LEFT UN VARNISHED AND BROKE ONE ELECTRICAL OUTLET. I ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE THROUGH A THIRD PARTY AND THE OWNER WOULD NOT BUDGE, DENYING HE CAUSED ANY PROBLEM.

Description of Work: Scott and company removed carpeting from a den and a large 1st floor master bedroom and closets. They installed new wood floors and worked hard to blend with existing hardwoods. The results were very good! They also refinished the fwood floors of entire 1srt floor. Our schedule was delayed because of issues with the house sale, and Scott worked hard to accommodate the scheduling changes. Everything was done correctly, we had no issues which required follow up.

They did a wonderful job and we were very happy with their work. They came when they were expected and they got it done when the time that the assignment was expected to be finished. We are 100 percent satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: I got the services of Precision Flooring to refurnish about 300 square feet of flooring. They used a dust free technique that worked very very well.

Scott was very responsive and helpful when I first called, and he quickly provided a very reasonable estimate and fit me into the schedule quickly. After that, things went downhill. He delayed finishing the job for a few days (which, was not a big deal since the house was then unoccupied). I was not home when the work was completed. On an initial inspection, the floors looked good, but after I looked further, I noticed that the final coat of polyurethane did not go to the edge of the floor in some spots. Again, this would not have been a big deal if it had been fixed, but I called and left several messages about it as well as emails and never received a response.

Very courteous and prompt even with the busy holiday schedule. It took about one week for the whole process to be complete because we did need the floors stained. They look absolutely beautiful, and match the rest of the house wonderfully. Would hire again... we have many more rooms that need refinished.
Description of Work: We were looking for our living room floors to be refinished to match the rest of the downstairs of the house (1920's Colonial.) Scott and team came and sanded and stained day 1, and then 3 days of polyurethane. The floors had some pet stains from the previous owner that we did not know about, and wear and tear over the past 80+ years. About 350 square feet was done.

We are very pleased with the quality and craftmanship! the new floors look great, the finish job came out beautifully-there is no dust in the finish! I originally had wanted to stain the floors a darker color, but Scott (owner of business) talked me out of it. He said he'd be happy to do it, but he couldn't guarantee the results. Apparently the floors I had been looking at t(hat were darker) were individually stained/finished floor board by floor board at the factory..It doesn't work the same way when you stain an existing hardwood? I didn't want to take a chance on it. Since then some people have told me that it shouldn't have been an issue, that it is possible to stain existing floors and get a good outcome, but I respect his honesty, if he didn't think he could guarantee a good result then I'd rather know that up front and make the decision accordingly. There were a few little "hiccups" in the trim work, the trim guy put back a few pieces of trim around the fireplace that had gaps in them because the hardwoods were lower than the carpet had been. DUH! It didn't look good. And one other piece of trim was messed up. But again, Scott was very professional. I was supposed to pay him that day and he said he didn't want to take the check until the problem had been resolved and I was totally satisfied with the job. That showed me good will on his part, he takes pride in his work and it isn't just about the money. He is fully insured, very professional and always responsive to my phone calls with any questions that I had. Would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Had to replace water damaged hardwood floors in kitchen. Since I was ripping those out, decided to install hardwoods in the adjoining family room as well. We also have existing hardwoods in the front foyer/hall that leads into kitchen. So, the job was to rip out the carpet in the FR, ripout the damaged floor in the kitchen. Install all new hardwoods in those rooms, then sand and refinish all of the hardwoods, including existing ones in foyer/hall. Price also included installing new oak trim around island and kitchen cabs and quarter round throughout all hardwood areas (which our cheap builder had not done with the original hardwood install!). I called four hardwood companies for quotes. Three responded and came out to give estimates. One of the companies was just a guy who did it on the side with his friend, they had prior experience, and were considerably less, ($2500)but we would have been responsible for shutting off gas stove, moving everything out, etc. They would also be doing the work nites and weekends (when we'd be home-not worth the lower $$!!) The second company was a few hundred less than Precision, but again, we would have had to pay someone to shut off gas, move stove and other appliances out. Hassle...plus he was not really responsive after he gave me the estiimate when I called him with a few questions..For the price, Precision was the most complete service. They handled the appliances, as well as moved out two bigger pieces of furniture. The owner came over promptly, was totally professional, left me the quote and. after we reviewed it, we scheduled the job. He did have to change the originally scheduled date; due to a conflicting project that he had, but gave me plenty of notice about it and rescheduled for 3 weeks later. He contacted me at critical points in the job to let me know what was going to happen and when. It was a messy job, but the crew cleaned up every nite and left the house in as good shape as you can expect when your floors are ripped out!! He had two crews, one was the ripout crew, then he had a floor laying crew. Both crews were very personable, polite and a pleasure to work with. I never felt uncomfortable leaving them alone in my house all day for the duration of the project.

I was ready to enter into a contract with Precision Flooring and had the work scheduled for a specific date in August 2011. We selected this date because we'd be out of town and it minimize our inconvenience if the work was performed while we were gone. Precision Flooring was aware the we selected this date for this reason. I requested an insurance certificate from them a month before the work was completed. They provided proof of worker's compensation but not proof of liability insurance. I called them back to request proof of liability. My calls were not returned for several weeks even after several attempts. Four days before the work was to occur I informed them that they could not proceed with the work until I received the proof of liability insurance. My call was not returned. The day the work was supposed to be performed I called them and my call was answered. They would not be performing the work as scheduled because they did not request the insurance certificate until 15 minutes before the insurance office closed on the previous day. It sounded as though they had no plans to perform the work at my house anytime soon. I asked when this would be resolved and when they could complete the work. I reminded them that we agreed to a certain date because I was on vacation and all furniture had been moved out of the room in preparation of the work being completed. The answers I was given were vague and insufficient. No attempt was made by them to reschedule and I stopped calling them to inquire. I moved the furniture back into the room without having the work done. Dealing with this company turned out to be a significant waste of my time and I would not recommend them to anyone.

The work took place over 3 days. The sanding was done the first day, and the subsequent work on all 3 days was the buffering and staining. The floors look fantastic. I don't think I fully realized how bad they were until I saw the magic that Precision Flooring performed on them. They look like new floors and have transformed my upstairs.
Description of Work: I had the hardwood floors in the upstairs of my house refinished. They were original to the house, which makes them 61 years old, and had apparently never been refinished before.

I called Precision Flooring based on a previous report in Angie's List and an ad in the local paper. Scott called back and set an appointment to come do an estimate the next day. He was on time and extremely professional. We were thinking of having only one floor refinished at that time, but asked him to estimate two rooms. He thoroughly reviewed with us their procedures (sanding the first day and initial application, then two more days of applying the polyurethane coating) and what to expect in terms of smell and how long it would take to dissipate, need for the crew to connect to our dryer circuit, etc. He told us if we had each room done separately, he would have to charge us the minimum, but he could give us a good discount if we had both rooms done at once. We decided to have them both done. He scheduled us for a week and a half later, and told us he would call the night before to arrange a specific arrival time for the crew. The night before the work was done, Scott called and said one of their vans was not working so they would not be able to come first thing in the morning. We established a mutually agreeable time range for the crew to arrive. He called the next morning to further update the time. The crew was very polite, introduced themselves and told us what they needed to do, were able to access the dryer connection through a basement window, and went to work. They did an excellent job on the floors and cleaned the rooms thoroughly before leaving. Scott called each evening for the next two days to establish times for the crew, due to their van problem. The same crew came each day, with the next two days being very fast timewise. We were extremely pleased with the result.
Description of Work: We had two rooms of previously carpeted hardwood floors refinished, including closet floors. One of them had some water damage. The floor in the closet in one room had some gouging from when we had the stairs to the second floor installed partly through this closet. The floors came out looking absolutely beautiful, much better than we had thought possible.

Scott gave us an estimate within a couple of days of contact. This was a busy season so it was almost a month before he could get us in his schedule. We are very pleased with the quality of the work we received and love our floors.
Description of Work: Scott filled in areas of our hardwood floors that had small cracks and spaces and then sanded our dark hardwood floors in the kitchen, family room and bathroom. He put three coats of oil base polyurethane on the floors. The equipment that Scott used for sanding was a dust free process.
