+ -1 moreThe contractor was friendly and professional. He provided us with the second lowest bid. The wood he used to build the deck was very knotty and started causing splinters immediately. The railing around the deck is coming apart. Some of the wood he used also warped and twisted within a month of installation. He was quick to get the wood replaced and installed. We found his worker missed some screws and the contractor sent someone back to complete the job. The person who came missed one and we contacted the contractor. He asked for a picture and I sent it via text. I have not heard from him in some time, and assume he is not going to fix this last item. We recently had problems with our dryer and discovered that the contractor removed our dryer vent cover and put another on, but forced it to fit which has been causing lint build-up. It looks like the workers has something on hand and forcably made it work (poorly). Since I could not get the last screw replaced, I am dealing with this poor workmanship issue myself.
Description of Work: Back deck removed and replaced with bigger deck.

+ 1 moreIt took a while for him to get back and it took until August for me to get a date for him to start it. Last week, he cancelled on me due to an emergency happen at another location. So he said that they would have to reschedule. I have not been able to reschedule it yet. He seems very knowledgable and a very good company. That is why I am continuing to try to get this booked. Even though it is a little bit frustrating that it has taken so long. The total amount was about $8000 and something but this does not cover the materials as I have picked that out yet. He seemed very knowledgeable. He seemed quite nice and trustworthy. He could be more prompt. With coming out and giving the estimate, there was kinda of a glitch. We were texting back and forth. He lost or did not have my appropriate email. They were going to come out and then email me the estimate. I think they had the wrong email so I did not get it. I was thinking that they were being rude and not getting back to me but that was not the case. So it was a case of miscommunication. I am going to still use them for the service.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from him for kitchen floors redone, a deck put on the back, a door relaced.

+ -1 moreWhen the crew started the job, they were very efficient and conscientious about their work. "Bad" boards were replaced, screws were added, and some structural work was complete. Then the deck was power washed, cleaned, and a sealant applied. The job was completed and cleaned up thoroughly. Our deck looks like new again! These people take great pride in their work and it shows!! Highly recommend DiMartino Construction & Remodeling!!
Description of Work: We had a very old large deck that needed some TLC. Mr. DiMartino met with me and we discussed what it would take to get this deck looking like new again. He was very knowledgeable and told me exactly what he would do without adding any unnecessary work. The estimate was completed in a very timely manner and his crew got to work shortly thereafter.

Description of Work: Been trying to obtain an estimate for a re-roof since March. Signed up for a free estimate at the Home Show in February. They indicated someone would be contacting me to set up a date and time for an estimate. After a month with no follow-up from them, I sent an email to the address listed on Facebook. Waited 2 days then sent another. After 2 weeks with no response, I called. A date and time to come to my home for an estimate was set for April 24th. They arrived on time and were very pleasant. I was told that an estimate would be sent to me via email. 2 weeks went by and no estimate. I called again and was told it must be an mix-up due to them having transposed letters in my email address. I reiterated my email address and was told that an estimate would be sent out to me within the week. A week went by and no estimate. Again I called on May 15th (Monday). After all this time having gone by (over 2 months), the lack of any written estimate and repeated follow up by me (never by them), it was clear to me that they didn't want the job. (All four of my other roof estimates from other contractors were given to me either the same day or 1 week afterwards in the mail) So I suggested to Mr. Di Martino that if he did not want the work, he should just say so. Mr. DiMartino said he did want the work and he (or someone) would get back to me in 24 hours. Well, true to form, no one got back to me in 24 hours. It's now 4 days since that last promise and as before, no phone call, no mail, no nothing. Time to call one of the contractors that has been following up with me (imagine that......they call me!) and get my roof job scheduled. Something is amiss with this company. I have no idea what it might be. But because of what has happened to me, I would urge caution. There are lots of other contractors out there that will appreciate your business.

+ 0 moreEverything was A+. We talked to the neighbors and got their name. It took about 4 or 5 days if you remove the rainy days. There were about 8 people. Some days it was less depending on what they were doing. Cleanup was excellent. Even the neighbors commented on the cleanliness the day after the work was done. They were surprised how they cleaned up after themselves.

I understand if my job was "too small" and not important enough for them, but I wasted 3 weeks in a very busy time of the year. Very unprofessional!
Description of Work: I contacted DiMartino Construction to have a my bathroom remodeled, including a new shower and tile work. John, the owner, came by and was enthusiastic about the work to be done, as I also needed new windows and decking later in the year. I was hoping to work with only one contractor. He assured me he'd have the estimate to me within 3 days.

His crew was polite and professional. They showed up on time and did a great job. John came by during the job to make sure everything was being done that needed to and was to my satisfaction. I would use DiMartino for possible future projects.

+ -1 moreExcellent! Old porch was removed and new one installed in one day while I was at work. New posts and a new soffit were installed as well as new decking and stairs on both ends. They came back the next day to finish the rear stairs and reattach the lighting and finish up. Very good customer service and the product looks outstanding. The composite is more expensive but much better than wood. No painting and little maintenance needed. I highly recommend DiMartino Construction and Remodeling for this type of work!
Description of Work: Old rear side entry porch was removed due to some wood rot and a new porch was installed with the new composite material.

He followed up with a detailed, clearly written estimate of the work needed and quoted a very reasonable cost.. On the day scheduled for the work to begin, he and his crew came promptly and, in two days, tore out our old deck, hauled away the old lumber, arranged for the City Building Inspector to approve the initial work that morning, and completed the deck by the end of the second day. They did a thorough clean-up of the work site. The result is an attractive, sturdy deck, built exactly as we wanted it, including Mr. DiMartino's solution for providing access to a water faucet underneath the deck . Throughout the entire process Mr. DiMartino and his work crew were efficient, professional and a pleasure to deal with. We are definitely considering hiring DiMartino Construction & Remodeling again for future home remodeling projects.

+ 1 moreJohn and his crew are simply the best around. My wife and I interviewed many contractors when we decided to put a deck on our home this year. After the home show, John followed up quickly with us. After coming to the house, John and John Jr. spent over an hour with us going through options on what he and his team could do. Never did we feel pressured by them. They are very easy to deal with. After we settled on one design, we closed the deal with John and scheduled a time for him to work with us. He was even able to adjust his work schedule to get his team to complete our project 2 weeks ahead of schedule (thanks mostly in part to some great late spring/early summer weather). Prior to starting the project, we made some minor design changes and John and his team were able to accommodate us and never was it a problem. Team Di Martino, the guys who showed up to do the project, were all very professional, respectful courteous PROFESSIONALS. Everyone of them knew their role, responsibility and had a task. It was a very well orchestrated machine. Never was anyone standing around waiting on something to do. The management of the crew by John Jr. was well done. Within 5 days, all holes were dug, concrete poured, framing set, deckboards laid and new door installed. With the proper management, good weather and a crew that trusts each other and their employer, made this project, and suspect all others they do, very successful. We will have John and his team back later this year to put in a new door on our home! We highly recommend DiMartino Construction for your home projects. Extremely competitive pricing, attention to detail, a great crew with the appropriate level of know-how is what this team has.

He told us he would mail or drop off the estimate, but not to expect it until early the following week since he usually does his estimates on Sundays. He was very personable and seemed to have great ideas so we were really looking forward to hearing from him, but nothing came. We followed up with a phone call and left a message, but never heard anything back. Nothing bothers me more than contractors who are irresponsible about communicating with their customers. Despite my initial impression of John, his poor work ethic would steer me away from ever recommending him to anyone I know and I would even discourage friends if his name came up based on our experience,

After initial inspection visit, he said he wanted to come and walk on the roof with his son before he could provide the estimate. After a week of not hearing a word, I called again and was told they were very busy and basically "totally forgot" about me. Reminded him that he was gonna come back and walk roof with son. and he said they would do that within the next couple of days.. I NEVER heard a word from them again! I have since had the work done by two other contractors and I am extremely satisfied with the results. I would NOT recommend this contractor if you actually want your work done.

After the actual visit (where very few photos were taken and no written notes of damage were documented) I was supposed to receive my estimate within 4-5 days. After calling once because I did not receive said estimate after 6 days, another 2 days before the estimate would be completed was promised. Its been 4+ weeks and I still haven't heard back from the company at all. I called another contractor once I realized I was never going to hear back from DiMartino Construction and Remodeling

+ -1 moreI contacted the company on Wednesday 4-22-15 to set up an estimate. I spoke to John and set up an appointment for the following Tuesday on 4-28-15. After John was a half an hour late to our appointment I called him to ask if he was still coming. John said there must have been a scheduling mix up and he had me on the schedule the following week. He said it was their fault. He also said he would call me back within the next couple of days to try to reschedule. I didn't hear from him so I called that Friday (5-1-15) and left a voice mail. I still didn't hear from him so I called Monday 5-4-15 and finally got back in touch. I set up an appointment for Wednesday 5-6-15 at 3 pm. Literally at 3 pm on 5-6-15 I get a call from John's son John Jr asking if they could reschedule because his father had oral surgery today. I declined the offer.

+ 1 moreI called John DiMartino on February 26th. He came over on the 27th at 3 PM, precisely on time. I gave him the details on the deck we wanted. He gave me an initial quote. We then modified the design to better meet my needs (I am a paraplegic in a wheelchair.) With mostly his input we ended up with a better design and a lower price! We asked him to start as soon as possible. He said he could begin, weather permitting, by late April or early May. Around the end of March John called and said he could do it earlier. He and his crew showed up on Monday, April 6th and were finished on Thursday the 9th. His crew was really good, curious and professional. I also asked him to build a ramp in the garage to give me unassisted access to the house. This too was done before they left on Thursday. Would we use him again? We've already arranged to have him come back to paint the garage floor, walls and ceiling, and the basement floor. No doubt we will be asking him for more help in the future. The roof work was an addition to the original contract and was done at my request after a discussion with John. Although John did not replace the garage roof, he re-flashed it at no extra cost to eliminate a leakage problem that we were having. Went to a lot of extra effort to cover over the many exterior lines on the house for cable TV. Final job was beautiful, made the house look new. John also helped arrange a few other items at very reasonable cost, such as the replacement of our badly worn electrical entrance. If I never need this type of work again, DiMartino Construction and Remodeling would definitely be my first call, and very likely my only call. Thanks again to John and his men for a very efficient, professional and beautiful job. I would recommend your services to anyone, especially my closest friends.

He and his crew were efficient, talented when issues arose out of anyone's plan and unbelievably creative. Some of this work was reworking. Due to that their are often unforeseen things that arise. Without a thought, John addressed them with solutions. Each time they were corrected and actually made the finished product better than originally planned. All work was performed as planned or better. All work was done in a timely fashion or sooner than planned. The work areas were left immaculate. The attitude of all of John's employees was always exemplary.
Description of Work: Custom tile work of an entire bathroom inclusive of shower with stone pebble floor. Custom trim, frameless shower door installation, insulation, dry wall and painting. Cabinet work, door resizing and hanging.

During the estimate process the roof work was found to be more extensive than I thought so I chose to proceed with full roof replacement. John DiMartino was very professional in his quote and his responses to my questions and concerns. He also was very good at working with my schedule and those of other contractors as well. His crew was at all times professional and helpful as well as very attentive to cleanup of work areas every day. They also were very good at handling minor details and issues as they arose, including these as part of their work rather than adding cost for little things. I am very happy with the work performed by DiMartino Construction and Remodeling and would definitely come to them for work in the future.
Description of Work: Replace existing roof with steel roofing, remove cedar shakes and replace with vinyl siding, replace side door and window on garage, aluminum trim on windows/fascia/soffit, new front gutters.
