Best Way Chimney

After all the severe weather our region has been hit with, I was worried about the bricks at the very top of my chimney. They seemed lose since the mortar between them was not there. I could see that from the ground! I also noticed that on several spots of the exterior of the chimney a yellowish-orange stain ran down and that some mortar was disappearing on other spots of this wall. (I had noticed when the oil service company about nine months earlier opened the opening to the chimney from the oil burner, fine particles appeared there. I thought the chimney wall must be crumbling. Oi!) I called three companies rated high on Angie's List for estimates on repairing the bricks and cleaning the chimney - both the area of the oil heat and the fireplace. I have a gas fireplace. Best Way and the two other companies noticed the top bricks needed repair. Best Way and another competitor also pointed out that the tall, old antennae needed to go. Best Way went beyond. They checked the chimney from the oil burner to chimney. They noticed the fine particles, crumbling clay, inside the chimney. A liner was needed to have the exhaust fumes leave the chimney more directly than through the mortar of the chimney wall and the relieve the condensation at the top of the chimney. I agreed with this analysis. It explained the orange tint, the lose mortar in many spots of the exterior wall of chimney and as well as the top of the chimney. The other competitors did not mention any of this and did not investigate thoroughly, I feel. Best Way's estimate form was clear and quoted exactly what the details of the job entailed. At first, when they opened this opening at the time of the estimate appointment, I was worried that they would break something. But they wanted to take a look at the rest of the chimney. I am glad they did. When they showed me, I remembered the dust particles, crumbling clay. It made sense to line this section of the chimney. The oil service company, who came a week later, mentioned that they had done a good job so far from what they could tell. I called them because I was smelling the "fruitiness" of household oil in the basement and first floor. I have a sharp sense of smell. The oil service company said that it is not a danger to anyone in the home. So I am a bit relieved. The only concern the oil service company pointed out is to "create a draft" to fuel the burner with oxygen and to relief the smell of oil. The area of burner is more airtight to some part due to the lining of the chimney. This old house not have the same "technology" as modern ones with creating a draft. I am not worried about this because I can go to Angie's List! I included in the price trimming of bushes because one of the companies had mentioned scaffolding needed to go up to reach the top of chimney and the bushes were in the way.

Very quick, very professional. I canceled the company previously scheduled to do the job as they missed the items needed to bring my chimney to code and used second-hand materials on a previous job for me.

An overgrown tree branch, combined with some windy weather, caused the top few feet of my chimney to become unstable. Several bricks had fallen to the ground, and more of the chimney falling to the ground was a real danger. Things went great. When he came to give me an estimate, Roger even cut back some of the branches causing the trouble. At that point, he had no idea if I'd be hiring him to do the job. Based on all the superlative reviews of Best Way here on Angie's List,I didn't even bother getting a second estimate, and to be quite truthful, the job cost less than I had anticipated I'd be spending. If I had one small quibble, it's that every time I called, I always had to leave a message. My calls were always returned, but it would be nice to speak to a live person once in awhile. But that's one minor thing, and Roger was able to do the work quickly and was able to re-schedule when bad weather prevented him from doing the work on the originally scheduled day. I'd recommend Best Way to anyone.

Decided to call Best Way because of all the positive response on Angies List. When I called, I left a message. My call was returned the same day and an appointment scheduled for a few days later. After inspecting my chimney, Roger found the one side not visible from the ground to be in need of more extensive masonry repairs than he does. He took pictures of the chimney to show me and explained what the problem was. He recommended a mason he uses who would be able to do the work. I found Roger to be very professional and knowledgeable. Would not hesitate to use him in the future

They arrived on time and went to work right away. Left the fireplaces clean and took away debris.

Called the company and left a message. The call was returned later the same day and an appointment was set up at our convience. Roger came over, inspected the chimney and the crack in the basement wall. He explained exactly what he would do make the repairs. He is professional, knows his business, reliable and very clean. All debris was cleaned up. Two days later we had heavy rain, no leaks excellant job. Use this company. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend them.

I wanted some pointing done on my brick house. The company called me back within an hour, after my leaving a voice mail, and told me that they did not do the work that I was requesting. I appreciate thier quick response.

We feel that after receiving 2 estimates previously, one higher and one lower, and then having Roger come from Best Way we decided to go with his company for several reasons, all of which proved to be rewarding. 1st his price with the Angies List discount was fair, the overall work we feel was far superior to what we would have received from the other two companies (quality work) his knowledge surpassed the other 2 and the final work was done expertly, in a timely manner and exactly how he told us it would be accomplished. We were very impressed also with what a truly nice guy he was and he was very glad that we found his company on Angie's list. We feel that all of the high ratings he has received he has truly earned and deserves. We will definitely be having him back next year to have a yearly cleaning.

Every one I delt with was polite and professional. The job was completed and all debris was remove. Brick on chimney matched and are not obvious replacements. There was no attempt to "sell" additional work, which I appreciated.No pushie sales talk.Only work required was discussed and accomplished. Over all a good experience.Would use them again if work on chimney is required.

Excellent! The chimney looks better than it did when we bought the house. All the work was very professionally done, no debris was left behind -- we're very pleased with the result. We'd definitely use BestWay again.

Before I called for an estimate, I checked the co out on consumer affairs (no complaints), BBB (no complaints) and Angie's List. When they came for estimate- they inspected chimney for the item noted above, I also asked them to check if it needed cleaning. they checked and advised interior of chimney was in good condition and did not need cleaning (I have gas heat) (that was a good sign, as many companies will automatically say it needs cleaning automatically). They showed me the work that was needed, and gave a written estimate and took off the discount for Angie's members. On the day the work was to be done, they did a nice job on the repairs, they were neat and cleaned up the old materials. They were going to re-use my old chimney cap but when it was inspected it was in need or repair, so they suggested a new cap and gave a discount on a stronger model. They checked the inside chimney after all was done, turned on the heat to check, and showed me the completed result. Since the job went so well- I scheduled an estimate and repairs for my mother's home.

this is my 2nd review- it's not a duplicate The job they did on my chimney went well so I also used them to do work at my Mother;s home- this is the review for that job. She has oil heat, and we suspected a water leak from the chimney. They did inspection- cleaning was needed as well as a new lining and cement work . on the day of the repairs- cleaned the chimney, the new liner was installed (they showed me how it looked before hooking up to the furnace) the re-pointed the cement and also did cement work to fix several cracks along the base. She has a separate metal fireplace chimney- which needed a new cover, and repair to the outside base. They did a through , neat and quality job and were nice to work with. they gave the angie member discount and a referral discount.

It was efficient and I have no complaints

Work was done on time and professionally. Estimate included only re-pointing the brickwork and patching holes as well as installing the liner and limited sealing. When work commenced they determined that the 5 top layers needed to be completely redone and it was completed at no extra charge. Original problem was condensation after installation of new efficient boiler. all condensation has disappeared.

Overall project went as planned. Very happy with results.

Roger checked the fireplace and said it was fine and didn't even need cleaning. It needs some minor repairs which Roger said could wait until spring. While he was visiting I asked Roger to check the furnace chimney which Roger said did need cleaning. Between inspecting the fireplace, chimneys and cleaning it probably took 45 minutes to an hour. Roger took his time and explained improvements I could make the the fireplace along with their associated costs. Best Way is a good company (in my opinion) to do business with.

terrific. He was late , but called two times to let me know. He arrived, very friendly, took a look, very thorough check draft, looked with mirror, did not scare me with facts about fires. I liked him, he felt honest and knowledgeble, and he told me his better business bureua listing was excellent too. His price was the lowest of the three estimates, but that is not why I picked him. He seemed the most reliable. Had great rating on Angie list, has two kids, and it is his own business.

I had at least 5 chimney firms come by for evaluation and estimate. Estimates were all over the place and some guys wanted to build scaffolding and/or seal chimney and they tried to make contract very complicated. You have to be very careful here, but this firm was superb and very professional.

Excellent! Roger and his crew were responsive, on time, and extremely professional; they showed up exactly on time for the estimate. After thoroughly inspecting the chimneys, they informed me that they were clean and didn't need cleaning; they gave me a written estimate for the brick work, flashing & cap; they returned on the date and time promised to perform the work, they were neat, thorough & professional. They did exactly what they said they would do, at the exact price on the estimate. I recommend this company without hesitation; it was a very pleasant experience.
