ANDY'S CARPENTRY LLC

From his professionalism in providing estimate (arriving as stated, punctual) to performing the work, I was very happy with Andy's work. He arrived early in the morning and just kept going--he has an incredible work ethic. I have an old home so I've been burned using contractors and service providers who are used to newer construction. He's a great find!

Andy contacted me promptly to inform me that he could only do work in Nassau County. Unfortunately, I'm in Suffolk so I cannot hire him. He then recommended a number to call to get the right contractor for me. Thanks Andy for your prompt reply and follow up! So appreciated!!

I called Andy to come and look at my wood floors that needed repairs. He explained to me that my floors were wood layered on top of composit and the planks snapped together. He only worked on and installed solid wood floors He said that it would be difficult to replace some of the random planks because all of the planks would have to be removed to get to the damaged planks. He wrote down all the information about my wood floors and he is in the process of contacting manufacturers in the industry that he thinks might be able to help me with my problem floors. Even though I didn't hire him to do any work, he is still actively trying to help me solve my floor problem. He definitely is a contractor that takes care and pride in his craft and work. I wish every contractor were as honest and helpful as he has been with me.

The job went very smoothly from start to finish. Andy showed up on time on the appointed day. He worked straight through the day. He was clean: he took great pains to avoind soiling rugs and walls. He set up a [plastic enclosure around his work space, thereby minimizing dust in the house. In addition to all this, his work was excellent, of the highest quality. I don't think there is any building service job that Andy Kuzma cannot handle. When a need for Andy's skills develops again (as it surely will) I will ask him back to do the work. Jim Clabby .

called to get an estimate and to my surprise I never received a return phone call. Maybe he does good work according to your reviews, but no call back means I hired someone else.

Was Early for a 9AM appointment, fair and reasonable for charge (a servcie call), and price was more than fair.

This was the first time for us to hire a handy man. We are pleased with the results we got. He was always on time and responsive to our questions.

Andy was responsive, prompt and neat. He completed the job, and was always courteous and professional. We would not hesitate to utilize Andy's services again in the future.

Andy had been my carpenter of choice for at least 18 years. He has never disappointed. Quality work, clean, prompt service, very helpful informed advice...I discuss a project, he gives me great feedback, he buys all necessary items, I sit back and know all will turn out well. Over the years he has also done roofing, new windows, all kinds of repairs, more than I can remember. Whenever anything needs doing, I call Andy.

With the glowing reports and thoughtful responses that were posted for this business, I expected better service. I sent an email through Angies List detailing the work I needed done, and contact information. I waited several days for a response. Then realizing that I did not know how quickly Angie would forward the information, I called the business directly and left a message on the machine which identified the line as Andy's Carpentry. The call and email were never returned. Used another handyman on the list and was very happy.

I made this call last Thursday, October 15 and have not gotten a call back. I have already signed with someone else.

Andy was upfront with the scope of work that needed to be done. He was very promt, neat and hard working. He was professional and honest which is very hard to find these days.

Things went very well. Andy is unusual: when he makes an appointment, he shows up. What could be better than that?

He was punctual, professional, courteous, and did a beautiful job. He takes a lot of pride in his carpentry. I'd certainly ask him to do more work in the future. I'd gotten several estimates and his price was not the lowest. But I chose him for two reasons: he'd already gotten a good review on Angie's List, and also because he took the time to explain the job. .

I could not be more pleased with the results of Andy's work. He is kind, honest, and truly hard working. He showed up on time every day and worked non-stop until late afternoon, early evening. I don't know his exact "recipe" for the magic he did, but I know he used a netting and plaster of Paris type substance and worked his miracle! When sanding was required, he hung plastic up and used the shopvac as he was sanding to try to keep the dust at a minimum. That's an almost impossible task, but he did try to cut down the mess as much as possible. The skim coat he applied was primed and ready for painting. AND, just like the Angie's List commercial, though he didn't have to walk her, he even let our Boston Terrier in and out throughout the day while I was at work, lol! A definite recommend!!

We needed to have a bathroom remodeled to accommodate the needs of our Mom who was coming home from rehab after a stroke. The work needed to be done pretty quickly and for most of the time, Mom was in the house with a home attendent. This made it important that the worker be careful and clean and resectful of her needs. We were very hapy with Andy on all these scores. As the job develoed, we had some additional things that needed to be done. While it took a little longer than we hoped, it was during the holidays and the additional work also delayed things.

He is extremely neat and punctual and a perfectionist.

Andy came over for an initial survey in May and we agreed at that time that he would begin the work in June when he had finished working on some of his current projects. Andy is very friendly and a true professional and explained to me what he would need to do and we agreed at that time that it would be in my best interest to replace all of the windows on the second floor as they were incorrectly installed by the previous homeowner and were mismatched and extremely energy inefficient. The entire process took longer than originally anticipated because we had to custom order new windows - otherwise I was more than happy with every phase of the project. Andy also was very good with my 3 dogs (Lucky, Buddy and Maggie) who were his constant companions during the entire process.

I left 2 messages for him at 2 different times, weeks apart, to get an estimate for handyman services. I figure it is approx. a days worth of work. He never called me back. I am 15- 20 minutes from his address.

He was professional, honest and responsible in his quote that he provided. My decision not to move ahead with Andy was based on my decision to sell my home instead of renovate.

Andy arrived early for the estimate (and apologized for doing so, although I was glad that he was early). Originally, in addition to the closet door, I had wanted him to repair/replace two other door locks in the house, but he recommended a local locksmith as a better choice for those jobs. Andy measured the space for the replacement closet door, and told me he could do the job in a couple of weeks. I asked Andy for an estimate and he said the job would take most of a day, and that he would also need to charge me for the cost of the door and materials. He said that his hourly rate was (I believe) $50/hr. I was satisfied with his answers and agreed to be in communication with him when he was available to start the job. We spoke again about 2 weeks later and Andy was able to arrange a time. While we spoke, I asked again for an estimate, and he said it would be about $225. On the day the job was to be done, Andy arrived on time, it was a sunny, relatively warm day, so Andy set up his equipment (to measure, cut, and block the door) in my backyard. He measured everything carefully, cut and blocked and installed the door perfectly. He even pointed out and showed me that the door was level, but because of the settling of our old house, when the door was closed it might look like it was uneven (This was one of those things that the average person would not notice, but you could tell that Andy is a craftsman who takes pride in his work, so it was important for him to note it and let me know). In any event, the door opened and closed perfectly (and still does weeks later). Andy cleaned up and did everything else well. As he thought, the job took about six hours, mostly because of the cutting and blocking. Andy definitely saved me money on the purchase of a custom closet door (which would have cost me $70 or $80 rather than the $20 or $30 a standard door would cost). However, Andy did not do a good job of estimating (or maybe I did not ask enough, although I asked him at least twice for an estimate). I had taken out $250 cash, given that Andy had told me it would cost $225, and I figured I might need a little extra. Because I had run home from work to meet Andy (to relieve my wife who was home but had to leave) I had left my checkbook in my briefcase. The actual cost was almost $400, and I had to drive to the ATM and come back and pay Andy, although he probably would have been OK if I mailed him a check for the difference. Getting the cash was a minor inconvenience, but fortunately I had the money. The real issue was, though that Andy should have given a written estimate, even if it was a cost range. All told, however, Andy did such a great job that I would still call him back for other handyman work. My dad was a cabinet maker, and you can just tell that Andy knows what he's doing, and takes pride in doing the job right.

They are nice to work with. They pay attention to every detail and do a good job. They are not the quickest, but they are very professional and reliable. I have used them several times and been satisfied.

Andy came on time, worked non stop and cleaned up afterwards.

Andy came in the morning, like we had scheduled, and he was so nice. He came in and took down the old cabinet with no problems and was so careful. He put up the new cabinet and light fixture in no time at all. Andy was fast and the job when it was done was perfect. The light and cabinet could not have looked better and there was no mess. He is very kind and does excellent work. I would say the best carpenter I have had came to my house.

Andy put in a new screen door out front, sheet rocked a hole in our den and installed a sliding wooden door for our backyard deck. He did excellent work..was punctual and came in right on budget.
