Everything went well - the trees look good and the roof is now safer from damage. I was surprised when I came home to find the work done when they had said they would call to setup the appointment, but it didn't really matter.

It went fantastic. We had a pool installed this year and that had turned out to be very frustrating because the workers didn't show when they were supposed to, never called to say they couldn't make it, some had to come back to redo parts of the job, and we were very unhappy with the way the jobs were going. We contacted Ed Kollar from the Davey Tree Company for a quotation - we did not know Davey Tree did installed lawns or did lawn work, but since they were listed in Angies List as doing these jobs, we contacted him. Ed was great! He showed up on schedule, gave us a quotation when he said he would, answered all our questions and came back to discuss any questions or thoughts we had once we had had time to look over the quotation. The job was started when we were told it would be, the workers were on time, did a fantastic job and we are very impressed with the quality of work we received. I would not hesitate to use Davey Tree in the future. In fact, I have already recommend them to a few of my co-workers.

The response to my initial call was good. A sales rep came to my house, listened to what I wanted done and assessed the job. He gave me a price on-the-spot, and I decided to hire them. A few hours after he left, he called with a date a crew would be here to do the job, if it wasn't raining. The job was scheduled for a Thursday. On that Monday I called to confirm, since it had been a few weeks since scheduling. I was told I was not scheduled for Thursday. I was not happy, and to be honest, threatened to cancel the job entirely (after all, this is a competitive world and there are plenty to choose from). The company rep called me back in a few minutes to say that I was scheduled. The confusion came about because my name was misspelled in their system. She told me the crew would arrive about 8 AM. The crew didn't arrive until almost 9:15. I was annoyed because as we all would do, I rearranged my morning schedule to accommodate the anticipated arrival time, though unknown to me, I didn't have to be home. I was told that they were late because they had to dump the truck of debris from a job the day before. He said sometimes they're late because the trucks/machinery have to be gassed up. Why wasn't that mentioned to me? If I had been told a late arrival was a possibility, I would have understood. Though I was told by the sales rep the job would take one day, the Thursday crew said it was definitely a two-day job. I assumed -- because I had no information otherwise -- that meant trees would be down and trimmed, stumps ground up, and the areas seeded, in two days. The next day, Friday, I didn't expect the crew to be on time because of the experience the previous day, and I was correct. That was fine. They went to work and when I inquired about the man who grinds the stumps, I was told he comes another day. I didn't know this. The sales rep told me they trim and cut down trees; a person grinds the stumps; and then the areas are filled in with soil and seeded. With no prior experience, I assumed that one set of workers would follow another, not that there could be days between start and completion. After placing a call to the sales rep telling him I was having a fence installed the following week, I was assured the stump grinder would be at my house Tuesday. I got a call telling me he'd be at my place between 10 and 10:30. He arrived at 11:30, but again, I wasn't surprised. Now for the good part: Even with all my complaining above, the men who did my job did excellent work. They were professional. They appeared to follow safety rules to ensure there would be no accidents. They were friendly and polite. Best of all, they did a terrific job cleaning up. Each one of the three days a crew was here, they ended the work day by cleaning up all the debris, whether large branches or twigs. My yard looked better than before they came! So the bottom line is they do very good work, and this is why I will probably call this company in the spring to do more work, being aware times are very flexible with this company. If you decide to hire Davey's, I recommend talking to your sales rep to get a clear understanding of the time frames involved and even then, be forgiving if it doesn't turn out that way. My recommendation to the company is unless told otherwise treat each customer as if they are 6 years old and don't know the tree business. I should have been told that the job from first cut to seeding could cover a span of four or five days, even if the tree cutting took only two days. I should have been told that the morning arrival time is a guesstimate based on what work from the previous day had to be completed. I should have been told that I didn't have to be home.

I was impressed with quickly Davey got a crew out to remove the tree when I expressed concern over its starting to lean after a recent storm. Within 1 day they had a crew out, and I couldn't believe how smoothly the tree removal went. They cut the stumpo very close to the ground and removed the tree without damaging a branch on any of the surrounding trees. The actually chopped up and then mulched the tree on site, and swept up my driveway when they were done. Terrific job, polite people and attentive to details.

I contracted Davey's Tree to have an estimate done on 2 Yews that needed to be trimmed in front of our home. We had Davey's trim these same Yews back in 2010. On July 13, 2013 Daniel McGrath showed up, inspected the Yews and handed us a written estimate. He said someone would call to setup a date. After 2 weeks I called the office because no one contacted us. We were told they could do the job in August and we didn?t need to be home. I wanted to be here so I could be assured they didn?t pull the heavy truck in my new driveway, so we set a date for August 27th. I sat home waiting for them and no one showed up. I called the office on Aug 28th. I asked the woman who answered the phone who asked Scott who was in the office what happened as we were on the books. They don?t know why no one showed up. They asked when they could re-schedule and I said Friday, Aug 30th. I had to pin them down for a time they would be here. Scott said late morning. Well, late morning came and went. At 12:30 pm I called the office again and spoke to same women again telling her they didn?t no one show again. I told her to call the crew and tell them not to come now. I will contact another tree service. Around 1 pm, Scott called and apologized. He started to give me excuses. I told Scott I didn?t want to hear it. He said he could send the crew over and I told him NO. Getting stood up twice in 1 week was enough for me. This was unacceptable. We shouldn?t have to track a company down to get them to do work. When they say they would be here, they should have been here. It?s sad and unfortunate that Davey?s crew have no loyalty and consideration for Davey?s customers. On Sept 3rd, I received a call from the manager Gary Schermerhorn. We spoke of my situation and he has remedied my issue. The work will be performed on Wednesday Sept 4th. Thank you Mr Schermerhorn. The work was performed on on Sept 4th as promised. Doug who performed the work was very professional, did an excellent job and cleaned up as he promised. I was very impressed with Doug because he knew how to trim my Yews correctly. I was very pleased with the job. I would have Davey's back again next year.

Dan has come to our home for a number of jobs from Davey's Tree and I have learned to trust his expertise and judgement.Dan came out and looked at the property and what needed attention. I had let the Arborvitae go too long without trimming and they were so high I did not know if it was even possible to trim. Lenny & RJ came to the house with all the excellent equipment.. Lenney is an expert tree person who we have had before. He always listens to what my thoughts are and adds his suggestions. Safety is a priorty and he is comfortable with the saw and moving about the tree work. RJ was great support doing all the necessary maneuvering on the ground. They exhibited great team work during all phases of the many facets of the job. The very hartdest thing was trimming the Aborvitaes. I wanted them cut back to about 7 feet. Lenny told me he thought it was too much to do at once. I insisted and he did it. He was right, it will take awhile to have the Aborvitae's to look more full and healthy again, I should have listened. I won't let them go so high again without trimming regularly. Lenny & AJ cleaned every single piece of all that cutting and trimming. Davey Tree has all the right up to date equipment and a trained staff. They now also fertize my lawn and will come out if I have any problems in between treatment. I find their professionalism in all staff and responsiveness to my needs prompt , effecient and of good value.

Great. Trees were removed. Dan was great with the estimate. It was little off putting when I called to actually schedule the work and was told to call back because there wasn't anyone there to actually book it, I asked to have someone call me back but ended up having to call back to schedule. We had to wait a few weeks which was fine, but there was no confirmation of the work and I actually had to call that morning to see if they were coming. Work was done and done well.

Ed was our salesmen. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He did not try to sell me, but just listened to what I wanted and then did survey. Ed gave me option of keeping the cut wood or having them remove all of it for no additional cost. I asked them to remove everything. At first I thought price was a bit higher than others, but price included stump grinding which other companies charged more for. Ed also helped me save a little with a couple of suggestions. I was happy with price considering I was hiring a reputable and fully insured company. The team showed up when promised and worked quickly, professionally and most important, safely. They brought in boom crane for large trees, which was great because a lot of trees were near power lines. It took them about 4 days to complete work (which seemed pretty fast considering the work). There were 5 men on team every day and they were obviously well trained and experienced. Ed came to my house numerous times during the job and made sure I was satisfied with work. I mentioned a couple of extra things I would like if I could budget it in such as shrubs being pulled. Ed had team do it without question, and did not charge me additional. I was never once hassled for money. Not even a down payment. I was sent a bill in the mail after I told them that I was satisfied with their work, which I then paid 2 weeks later. I was completely satisfied with Davey's tree service and WILL use them again for future projects. Thank you Davey's for a very satisfying experience with such a huge and tedious job.

I called around & got a few estimates. They were by far the cheapest. I called them as I drive by them every day going back & forth to work. Everything went smoothly from the estimate to their work. We had a slight hiccup in that they missed a couple of the branches quoted but they quickly came out & rectified. Happy w/ their service & would definitely use again!

I was very happy with them. They were prompt and they were effective. They were also reasonable. I decided to go with them over anybody else because of their locality and reviews.

We signed up with Davey, with Dan McGrath, for Spring 2013 lawn treatment in the Fall of 2012. We were asked to pay up front for the contracted services--which we did. After paying up front, we placed several phone calls leaving messages with the receptionist in November of 2012 which never got answered. In the Spring of 2013, we attempted to contact Mr. McGrath again to inquire about our contracted services and when Davey might begin work for us. We also to wanted to contract for additional work on trees that had become damaged in the winter. Three phone calls in 5 weeks went unanswered. We eventually purchased and started using our own lawn care products as we had no way of knowing if or when Davey might come. Finally--after we had already started our new lawncare system--someone called from Davey to say they would be out to service us the first few days into May. Our original agreement with Mr. McGrath was such that Davey would begin lawncare for us roughly within the second week of April. It was then already the first week in May when someone finally called. To his credit, Mr. McGrath called us immediately after we turned down the service appointment because we hadn't heard anything from Davey Trees in over a month. He apologized and promised to "get to the bottom of what happened" and call us back. It is now several weeks after the fact and not only has Mr. McGrath NOT called us back, as promised, but he also never saw to it that we received a refund. As expected, we are extremely dissatisfied with our experience.

over over 40 feet ta;Davey responded quickly to my request for a quote. They gave me a comprehensive recommendation for my entire lot, and worked with me to keep costs in line. The work they performed was of very high quality and they were prompt,, courteous, and professional. I was very impressed by two attributes of the estimate: They took time to answer all of my questions, which were numerous; and 2) they were very willing to work with me to keep costs under control including discussing things I could do myself. I will definitely use them again.

This company is very reliable, they completed their job very well. I don't have any complaints on their services. They arrived on time, we're complete on time as well.

The Davey Tree Co. in Latham show up when they're said they were going to show up. They do what they say they're going to. Their staff are all very friendly. You can ask them questions and they're very knowledgeable. There's one particular fellow who's been quite responsive, in terms of new projects, giving us estimates and bouncing things off us. My wife has used him as a sounding board, in addition to using his company for lawn services. Overall, I think they're a great outfit.

The large elm was taken down with the assistance of a crane. They were very careful, and moved many of the logs to the side of the property so they can be used for firewood. It was all trimmed and stacked neatly. Before leaving, all branches and twigs were raked up and removed. We have used Davey's for tree removal or pruning for many years. They are always neat and careful, and very conservative (meaning that they remove only what is necessary). They have also installed cables in some of our larger older trees, to preserve them. I highly recommend their services.

Hired Davey to remove a tree from our yard and was happy with service so we decided to hire them for fertilization and treatment of our lawn.

It went well - a couple of bumps that were easily resolved. Ask for clarifications - the bumps were my fault because I thought that a term meant one thing - but the reality it meant another! They came back and completed the work to what I thought - just very professional! Am looking forward to working with them for other home landscaping projects!

Estimate: Scott arrived right on time for his review of the property, took his time reviewing our trees, and provided good feedback, both objective and subjective, about our situation. I didn't feel that he was applying any pressure to have work done, and in the case of some trees, even recommended that we not do any work. I appreciated his input and forthcoming approach. Work: The work was scheduled promptly, and the crew (RJ, Roland, and Brian) arrived on time. They worked quickly, and avoided any damage to our lawn using the special mats for the trucks to drive on. They were a great crew to have around my child (who could see them through an open window) - no cursing, yelling, or music. They were very diligent about clean-up, and left the property literally cleaner than it had been. Their equipment was clean, seemed to serve them well, and seemed to be current technology (the neighbors were very impressed with the crane, which I'm sure served as very good advertising too). We had also paid for stump and surface root grinding. RJ came back over a period of two days and completed the grinding. The stumps and surface roots were very substantial, but RJ was extremely thorough with his work, and fastidious about cleaning up afterward. He was quite polite and even checked in once he was done to make sure I was satisfied with his work (I was thrilled).

They were quick and efficient. They cleaned up thoroughly. The price was very reasonable. We were very happy with the job.

This company is WONDERFUL! They are extremely professional and skilled. A sales arborist came out and talked with us at length about which trees to remove on our property. We decided on removing nearly a dozen large trees that were near our house and having some of the existing trees trimmed. Three guys came out the next week and removed them all in two days. It was a treat watching them as they were extremely skilled and careful. They cleaned up when they were done and made sure that we were happy with the work. A few days later, another guy came out and removed the stumps and planted a new tree. He was also very professional and cleaned up before he left. When the work was entirely finished, the sales arborist we originally talked to called to make sure we were satisfied with the work done. We definitely are!! I am not sure if they are the cheapest company for tree removal, but if not, they are worth the extra money.

Cold called Davey's from phonebook ad. Work scheduled and completed within 10 days. 2 trees taken down $500; 1 trim $250.

Left intelligent email via Angie's List thru the "Email Provider" link on 09.20.2012 requesting an estimate for a large tree I needed removed in my backyard. Today is October 1st approximately 10 days later and I have yet to get a reply phone call or email from this company. Hey, everybody is busy, but too much to ask for a reply email or phone call? Kiss goodbye any future business from me, my friends, ny neighbors or co-workers, et cetera. l It went very well. We were impressed with the immediate response from the office staff and the convenience of setting up appointments. All appointments from estimate to completion of the job were extremely punctual. The work was done quickly w/ no wasted time. The team took the whole day , finished the job and cleaned up.
