Did a very thorough and professional job insulating above our garage, crawl space, and attic areas. We felt the difference after the first day, even though the project wasn't finished. They had a large team to make quick work of the whole project. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and willing to answer any questions and walk me through what they did and status. We were home the whole time during the project and they were clean and respectful. One thing that could be improved was maybe because they are a fairly large team with communication having to go from the top down (and maybe because they moved our project up a few weeks, so it was short notice), they missed a couple areas initially they planned to insulate. However, it was no issue once I reached out, they were extremely friendly and professional in coming back to make sure everything was completed as planned.

Lou and sons are some of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. Doing this as a family business, they gave me their full attention. Gave me a fair price and didn't bother me one bit after that. They know what they are doing. Came with all the equipment and the necessary staff - taped off all the walls and floors with plastic & rugs, and completed the job on time, with top quality. In addition to that, they did an impeccable job cleaning up, and left the place as clean as they found it - such down to earth, and friendly family. I would hire them back anytime. Wish them luck.

We had Nu-way come to our home twice for insulation. Both times they came on time and did a great job. I was very impressed at how they prepare the work space to keep dust to a minimum. The only problem is that it takes a really long time to get them to do the work and they may contact you with as little as 24 hours notice that they have an opening.

Nu-way was recommended by a friend and I was not disappointed. The owner Lou was a great person to work with. Professional and very informative on why the garage and attic were the two places insulation was most effective. My house had extreme heat loss and had to have the thermostat as high as 75 and still not feel warm. Since the job was completed I have dropped all thermostats to 70 and you feel warmer than it was at 75. Most importantly my sons room was above the garage and would be very cold during the day. The floor was ice cold. After the insulation my sons room may be the warmest room in the house now. Peace of mind is priceless when it comes to your family's well being. I would 100% recommend Nu-way. They showed up on time the day of insulation and because they have long time employees and a larger team than other companies they finished both areas in about 8 hours. Great experience. Side note: The insulation is very effective. My wife is Brazilian and for the first time in my life I came home and saw that she lowered the heat to 69 degrees. Lowered! That speaks volumes to the effectiveness of the insulation and job Lou and his company did.

Mr. Mazzo was very amiable and knowledgeable. He explained everything in great detail and helped me understand the science of insulation. His price was fair and I very much liked his integrity. The only reason we did not hire Nu-Way to do the work is because we would not be able to take advantage of the NYSERDA loan (needs to be a participating contractor). Otherwise, we certainly would have moved forward with Nu-Way.

Lou and his crew arrived on time early in the day. They were very friendly and professional. I was so impressed by how neat they left my home. He promised to get the job in a day, and stayed late until the job was complete. Perhaps most importantly, Lou noticed that the air conditioning ducts were extremely old. Upon further inspection, he discovered that they had a very unusual construction: fiberglass is on the inside of the ducts. He explained that this was extremely hazardous: that the fiberglass particles are a known carcinogen and their placement in the duct work causes the particles to be inhaled. He strongly suggested that the duct work be replaced. I have a two year old son, and due to his care and concern, he will be breathing safe, clean air. Thank you so much Lou!!

We were renovating our house - a 1920's Victorian which had NO insulation. Our contractor recommended someone who wanted to charge 3X the price and do an energy audit (on an old house, an energy audit is useless). We checked Angie's list to get a few other estimates and came across Nu-Way. The estimate was very reasonable and there was no upselling of unneeded extras. The work was finished within one day. We weren't on site when they did the work, but they did what was expected, including patching all of the holes created to blow in the insulation. We immediately noticed a difference in the temperature of the house after the insulation was put in. The attic was no longer unbearably hot in the summer. The true test will be this winter, but I can already say that on recent cold evenings, the upstairs has been much warmer than our first floor which we did not insulate. I would recommend Nu-Way - the price is fair, the work is well done, and insulation is their specialty so you aren't being sold a bunch of other products that you don't need. Also, they have experience with old houses which was a plus.

Nu-Way Insulation did exactly what was requested and expected of them. I picked Nu-Way Insulation to provide insulation for my upstairs bedroom walls, attic space, and garage ceiling. I settled on using Nu-Way after evaluating multiple insulation providers for about a month. I contacted Nu-Way after reading a number of positive reviews, and eventually hired them. I'm glad I moved forward with using Nu-Way. My first meeting with a representative of the company was with Louis Mazzio (one of the company owners). Louis was very pleasant, patient, and accommodating. Louis admitted that sales was not his strong point, so his sales pitch might not be typical. After viewing the space that I wanted insulated, he explained to me what his crew would do, what materials would be used and how they compare to other well known products (cellulose vs. foam), and how long the job would take. Louis even drew me a small picture to better explain what the inside of my walls most likely looked like at the time and what they would look like afterwards. He did a great job at comparing the services that his company offered versus what competitors offered. Lastly, Louis gave me a price that I could accept, which was more favorable than what competitors were charging. I got the impression that Louis was not interested in selling the service, but was more about helping me to understand why I needed the service from his company. After my first meting with Louis, I did not immediately settle on using his company. I actually went back to a competitor to see how they would respond to some of the new information I had as a result of my meeting with Louis. I was not too impressed with the answers I got, but I still was not yet completely sold on hiring Nu-Way. I was not yet sold only because I really wanted to make sure that I would be making the right decision in who to hire. After making the decision to hire Nu-Way, the day of the appointment arrived. Louis and his crew of seven arrived promptly at 8:30am. I was impressed immediately by Louis' crew. It should be noted that Nu-Way's crew consists of long time Nu-Way employees, some of which also happen to be family members of Louis. Since part of the crew is related to Louis and or are long time employees of the company, the crew has a stake in how well the company performs. Therefore, they strive to do a great job. After the crew introduced themselves, they immediately got to work. They took great care in prepping the space, so as to avoid making a mess in my bedroom and garage. A number of access holes would have to be cut out to get behind the walls and into the attic space, so there would be a lot of drywall dust left on the floors and in the air. They covered my floors and furniture with their own carpets or plastic. They moved what furniture needed to be moved and cleared out closets that had to be worked in. All of my personal items were handled very carefully. The crew worked the entire day (from about 8:30am to 4:00pm), only stopping to take a lunch break. Lou had to leave the work site on a few occasions to handle other business, but he did stop in on two or three occasions to check in on the work and to do a final walk through when the work was completed. The crew left my home in the condition that it started in (floors vacuumed and access holes patched and left ready for me to paint). Overall, I was very impressed with Nu-Way, Louis, the crew, and the work that was done. After a few conversations with Lou, I feel like I know him and his crew on a personal level. I am already seeing a benefit of the insulation. I have noticed that my boiler is not running as much as it did prior to having the insulation added. This means that the work is already paying off in the form of helping me save on energy costs. I am looking forward to hiring Nu-Way again in the near future to do additional insulation work on my first floor.
Description of Work: Nu-Way Insulation provided blown in cellulose insulation into the walls and attic of my upstairs bedrooms. Nu-Way Insulation also blew in insulation above my garage ceiling. They provided 14 inches of densely packed cellulose insulation behind the knee walls, across the attic space (not a traditional attic, but really a tight space at the top of a cape cod style home), and to the roof line of the structure. The insulation behind the knee walls is also supported with the addition of astro-shield. The work included insulating as much as possible the spaces around the dormers and the external walls (upstairs only). In addition to insulating the upstairs spaces, they insulated my garage ceiling.

Spoke with Lou on the same day we called Nu-Way in late Sept. We arranged a mutually convenient time for the estimate. Lou inspected the attic and garage areas after listening to our list of drafty, cold areas in the house. He gave us a reasonable estimate on the back of his calling card. He gently reminded us that the busy season for insulation would soon start & that if we decided to go with Nu-Way, not to delay calling back to get on the schedule. Since Nu-Way was in the ball park of estimates, we engaged Nu-Way. There was no deposit requirement until the work began with 50% required at the end of the first day and the balance at the end of the second and last day. We expected work to begin in late October, but the installation actually began in mid November which was fine. A full crew arrived a little late but Lou called ahead to let us know. They were very professional, neat ( covered hard wood floors and rugs for the exit pathway) respectful of our home and cleaned up at the end of each day. The job took 2+ days to complete. The finishing touches on the closure of the ceiling where the whole house fan was located took another 2 hours on a third day. Well worth the extra time as the repair was seamless! With the arctic cold that we experienced in December and January, we can vouch for the great improvement in the comfort of our home this winter! In comparing Con Ed bills from our previous 2 winters in this home, the amounts are a little less, but this winter has been much colder and the Con Ed rates are higher. We highly recommend Nu-Way!
Description of Work: Removed old inadequate insulation in the attic and eaves, removed old whole house fan and closed the opening in hall ceiling to be primer ready for painting. Installed insulation in attic knee wall and blew in cellulose insulation in attic, eaves & garage ceiling directly under the family room.

When I called Louis he came the next day and did the estimate. He was professional enough to call and ask for a one hour extension on our agreed appointment time. His estimate was very competitive when I factored in the small extras that other companies said they do not do. The day of the job Louis, Juan, Bryan and the crew arrived on time and immediately set out to move furnishings and made sure everything was properly covered and protected. They covered every bit of area that they were walking and working on. I was impressed with the work done and the clean up that they did so I decided to have them do the first floor walls also. I was worred about the mess doing the main floor would cause but the crew kept the dust and noise to the bare minimum. Because we added work to what was initially agreed they had to come a second day and repeated exactly what they did on the first day. The crew allowed me to oberve them as they work and answered questions on what they were doing at all times, T They were willing to do lots of extra little jobs that I asked of them. Nu-way is extremely punctual and did an excellent job cleaning up.
Description of Work: 1. Installed Astro Shield insulation on the vertical knee walls and the front and back walls of the crawl space in our two room attic. Then we had cellulose insulation blown into these cavities and into the slopping roof cavities. We also had 12 inches of cellulose insulation blown into the flat part of the cathedral roof, 6 inches of cellulose insulation was blown into the cavity of the 2nd floor ceiling and the crawl space and 6 more inches on the floor of the crawl space. 2. We had cellulose insulation blown into all the exterior walls on the first floor and into the 6 inch cavity above the roof of our mud room.

They were on time to the appointment and seemed knowledgeable. I didnt use them because of negative talk about another product I was considering; spraysfoam. I neutrally weighed both options and had joists sprayfoamed which proved to keep cold air and bugs out. Sales person said proven bad idea but no documentation. I stand behind joist spray foam. One of the main reasons I didnt chose them was that I dont really like it when one company talks badly about another just to get the project. Looks desparate and red flags go off.

A+ rating across the board. From my first meeting with Nu-Way owner Lou Mazzio, I knew I was working with a real pro. Lou listened to all my concerns and thoroughly evaluated all the areas of my home to be insulated before giving me an estimate. The work was performed exactly as described - Lou sent a team of 5 to remove old insulation and pump new cellulose insulation into my attic, living room ceiling and a fairly tight crawl space under one of my first floor rooms. In addition to the insulation, Lou included in my job construction of a platform on my unfinished attic floor so that I'd be able to (finally) use the it for storage. The job took 2 days, exactly was estimated, and Lou was on site at the beginning and end of each day, plus several hours during each day. While he also needed to be on site at other jobs taking place in the area, he was easily accessible via cell phone and immediately responsive. Each member of the work team was polite, curteous, neat, respectful and, most importantly, professionally carried out every aspect of the job I was promised. They fastidiously cleaned up after themselves in my home and could not have been nicer. The result of the insulation installed was exactly what Lou predicted - my home is infinitely more comfortable than it ever has been. For the first time, I did not freeze all winter inside my house! Nu-Way's pricing was half what another contractor estimated, and worth every penny. I can't recommend Nu-Way insulation and Lou Mazzio highly enough. If you need to insulate your home, you must meet with Lou and get an estimate from Nu-Way. You'd be doing yourself a disservice not to.

Fantastic job by Nu-Way Insulation from A-Z! The folks from Nu-Way Insulation were prompt, provided an immediate clear and concise proposal, and delivered above and beyond expectations. They were a pleasure to have in the house, cleaned up after their work and followed-up to make sure all was completed satisfactorily. We immediately felt the difference, and after a couple of 95 degree days, the condensation problem seems to be solved and the A/C had no problem cooling the upstairs rooms. I would absolutely use them for any insulation related job and highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: We needed insulation work in the attic to solve an A/C condensation problem and also a problem of limited insulation in the ceiling of the garage. The core of the job was to blow cellulose insulation onto the attic floor, add insulation to the A/C ducts and do the same to the garage ceiling.

The job could not have gone better. His crew showed up on time with Louis and were extremely courteous and experienced. They put down runners and canvas to protect the carpets and plastic to protect the nursery, which happened to be the location of the attic door. The work was beyond professional and careful. Louis built an 18 inch wide trench along the perimeter of the attic to blow in an extra 6 inches or insulation. The woodwork was pristine. He removed the floor boards in the usable attic and left the overall appearance neat, clean and beautiful. The walls were done with 1 inch holes from the inside and/or outside, whichever made more sense given the location. The overall effect is to have gone from a a zero to 3 R-value to a 25 in the attic(having space limitations in the floor boards)and a 45 in the perimeter of the attic. The house feels about 100% warmer and the boiler is not going on more than once every hour or so on the coldest day in December. He was not the cheapest quote, but the added touches, like insulating the voids that come down the attic walls in my Tudor and building the perimeter made his overall value incredible. Ask any other company if they do these items and they will either laugh it off or quote you extra. I felt totally safe and secure with his crew.
Description of Work: Louis came to my home to give me a detailed estimate to add new blown-in insulation to my 80+ year old home. He was extremely knowledgeable and precise and could visualize the entire job. He gave me separate quotes to re-do our attic insulation, the walls in the first and second floors and the ceiling of the attached one-car garage.

We noticed a difference in how our A/C was working almost immediately. During the warmest days we're able to keep the a/c on at around 75; normal days, even higher. We did this because of heating costs so we'll hve to see; but it seems well worth the cost, though it was higher than I expected. The only criticism I'd have is this: if homeowners have not insulated before, we need to know what to expect in terms of mess. White cellulose was all over our belongings in the garage (bikes, tools, things we were storing there...). In the family room, they spackled the holes but there was spackle dust everywhere - on our art on the walls, over our picture albums, in our hamster cage...it seems as though something went wrong in the spackle phase. Also, that night our upstairs a/c didn't work and after one brutal 90 degree night, the a/c guy came and asked us if anyone had leaned on a piece of the unit as it was bent and damaged. Lou was very amenable and apologetic about both things and is paying for our cleaning person for one day and the a/c repair. But the hassle and our lost Saturday are gone. I only read positive things about Nu-Way's neatness, so it may be that this was a big job on two very hot days. Just be advised as to the otential for mess so you cover up your nice things. I'd still use them again if we decide to do more. I trust Lou as a wise insulation guy.
Description of Work: Lou came and gave us his opinion on the possible approaches to insulating our home. He broke the estimate up by phase or piece of the job so we could do it gradually if we wanted to. He said he had a cancellation the following week (according to other reports on Nu-Way, he's said this before!) and we booked him for two days' work. Lou is pleasant and thorough. His crew are a bunch of darlings - hard working, polite, relatively neat. You just wanted to make them a meal, they were so sweet. They insulated about half the roof space (over a portion of the roof over cold rooms), 5 exposures on my daughters bedroom including the floor via the porch ceiling underneath, the garage ceiling (which had insulation installed by my contractor, but not nearly enough), and walls in the MBR, the family room and my office. Most of the insulation was blown in from the outside except on surfaces that had a stone facade or were otherwise unreachable (family room, garage ceiling)
