Description of Work: This past Monday, Twin City Heating and Air came to do my "AC Tune-up" that I purchased from you. The employee said that the AC starter on my old unit was entirely broken and wanted me to buy a new one plus another piece (and were at the same time kind enough to offer me a service contract at a discount). They said they could not do the paid-for tune-up because my system was broken and that if did not sign up for the repair right away, but waited to decide, and called back later, they would charge me what they were quoting that day plus a $59 service fee. I nevertheless declined the hard sell. I had a second opinion yesterday, and that repair person removed some corrosion and got the AC working just fine in 45 minutes. That professional said the starter (like the rest of the unit) was old but not broken. This is outrageous. Angie's List should not support businesses that seek to fleece people by coming in and saying something is broken beyond repair that is just corroded, and saying if I don't buy something on the spot I will be charged more later. I would have happily paid more for the starter to be fixed on Monday. But I did not need a new one. I sent copies of the documents saying (wrongly) that my AC needed a new starter and the offers from Twin Cities in the incident email I sent separately.

Description of Work: The young man came on time and was very pleasant to deal with. He did a tune-up on the furnace and showed me how to clean the filter. He then proposed a deal where they would do my service for the next three times for a certain price. I did accept this as I will need someone to do the service for me. I am new to the area and took advantage of the $39.00 deal on Angie's list hoping they would do a good job. The young man told me that my humidifier didn't work and would need to be replaced for about $450.00. I declined at the time. I then had another plumber in the house doing other work and mentioned that it didn't work. He looked at it for me and said the humidifier would be $125 if he got it. Then, on further inspection, he noticed that it was just "turned off". The humidifier works fine. I was very disappointed that I could have spent $450 when I didn't need to. I don't know if this young man is so inexperienced he didn't know or if this was a con job. At any rate, I am now locked into a service plan and I will see how that works out.
