Technician came promptly, diagnosed the problem, did a cleaning. Took 2 more visits to determine that the local utility's hardware was to blame. Lowe technician went to bat for us with the utility to make sure it got fixed. Very happy with the service.

Two guys worked together and worked hard. Took them a couple of full days. It was a challenging situation, but they knew what they were doing, and I was very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Installed a new shower enclosure 2+ years ago where none existed previously. Involved hammering through almost 12" of concrete slab, installing a new surround, and all plumbing to connect to an existing septic system. Also included exterior dig out to connect to the septic.

Lowe Plumbing and Heating came out to my house to ascertain where a heating pipe ceiling leak was coming from in my office. They sent a plumber out. After ten or so minutes of digging around, he found the source of the leak in an attic space over my office. I got the approximate cost of fixing it verbally from their plumber who came out. I agreed on the price. I had told him that I had Cryotek (anti-freeze) that had been installed in my heating system by another plumber, just the year before. The plumber from Lowe said that he wanted to test the acidity, as Cryotek tends to corrode copper heating pipes if it gets too acidic, thereby possibly causing a future pipe leak. I knew this already, and also knew to test the acidity levels yearly, so I had agreed to his urging to test for the level of acidity of the Cryotek within the heating pipes. I had also agreed on the price to fix the ceiling pipe leak. What did the plumber do? He tried to fleece me (before even testing the acidity of the Cryotek) by telling me that he wanted to bring his Supervisor/Manager out to my house the following day, to look at my system. He said that in order for the Cryotek to work at its optimum level, it needs to be flushed out of the heating system every four or five years, along with any acidic Cryotek residue that could remain inside of the copper pipes. I knew this, but as I indicated, it certainly wasn?t necessary, as it had just been installed in my heating system?s pipes the year before. He kept refusing to fix the leak in my pipes (which was the absolute FIRST thing that he should've done, as soon as he arrived), and kept insisting that he return with his Supervisor/Manager the following day to assess the need to do this work, and give an estimate. The plumber left after twenty minutes, without doing any repairs (or even testing the acidity of the Cryotek). Meanwhile, my pipes in the attic area were still draining onto my ceiling's drywall, despite my shutting the water off to the house. The plumber's Supervisor finally called me (at 7:45 the next morning), and offered a price of about $4,000.00 to remove and flush the Cryotek out of my heating system (which again- hadn't even been tested for improper levels). They wanted to bring in this huge truck - just drain the Cryotek (which is environmentally pretty much harmless), then they wanted to bring in more equipment to flush water thought the heating pipes, test for leaks, and then re-install the Cryotek back into the heating pipes (at an approximate cost of $100.00 per drum; which comes out to $500.00 for the entire house)?. I told the Supervisor that I will NOT be expecting an invoice for their wasting my time, and trying to fleece me. These people have a bad reputation locally for being the "Gucci" plumbing contractor, who grossly over-charges at every opportunity. They certainly lived up to that reputation and my trust for them is completely gone. I'll never call them again. Their loss too, because I know about 20 or so realtors, who will certainly hear about this, if they haven't already experienced Lowe Plumbing's price gouging on their own. Plumbing/Contracting 101 Rule: don't assume that your customers are stupid OR try to take advantage!
Description of Work: The provider was called to find and fix a leak in my attic that was coming from an overhead 1/2" copper heating pipe. They did nothing, and tried to fleece me for unnecessary services.

i sent an email late one night when I found Jeff Lowe on Angies list. By 8.30 the following morning he called me. He was extremely responsive helpful and professional. My problem was at a vacation home 2 hours away from my primary home. He was very accommodating to my schedule and timing and the office called the morning of the visit to confirm with me and check on my timing. His Plumber Jim was great. He was waiting for me when I arrived, helped find out the problem which luckily was not as serious as I had feared and quickly fixed the valve, He was very courteous and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this company and will absolutely use them again.

I hired Jeff Lowe Plumbing to service the gas boiler in the house I just bought in Kingston, NY. The boiler hadn't been serviced in years. The service contract (for a year) was reasonably priced. The technician was great. He answered all my questions about my heating system and showed me how to re-program my thermostat. Oh yes, he cleaned the boiler too!!

First, they were responsive, which is better than I can say for other plumbers I tried to hire in the area. Second, they were helpful on the phone, and didn't have the attitude that the plumbing business in Woodstock seems to have. Their trip fee was reasonable compared to others' and they can schedule visits at any time including weekends. Matt was swamped by emergency work at the time of our original appointment, and could not come, but there was ample communication about this. Also, the following morning, I got an early call from the office seeking to reschedule at earliest opportunity, which happened to be right away, and I was given priority because of the prior night's trouble. The plumber was polite, well-spoken, and helpful. Within a few minutes we had decided on the scope of work, and he set to work. He also left me with estimates for other work that I had asked him for advice on. He left everything in great shape. A bit expensive perhaps but not hugely so and the reliability and convenience is worth a lot to me, after having tried to get any plumber to come see me for a couple of weeks.

Had a Geothermal unit installed 2005 to provide heat and AC to whole house? Contractor of course went belly up about 2 years later and of course that's when the unit stated acting up. Many authorized installers for the manufacturer in the area but almost no authorized maintenance, or at least no one who wanted to respond to a trouble call. There's more money in installations than repairs it seems and I guess you need to know less as well. Over the next 2 years we used 3 other services; 2 no longer exist and the third makes Lowe cheap by comparison... Finally after aggravating the manufacturer enough, they responded and suggested Lowe. Are they pricey? Definitely. Are they good? They're EXCELLENT. When they responded to my first trouble call, 2 service men showed up, looked at the installation and said and quot;Wow. Who did this?and quot; and called in their supervisor. Over the next 2 days they diagnosed back and forth with the manufacturer. Initial price to me? before repairs $98 service call. Once they had the installation understood, they fixed 2 leaking valves (geo system replacement parts are notoriously overpriced; just do a web search). Lowe charged the same price as the best price I could find on the Internet. After that, once a year diagnosis, cleaning, adjustment, etc. under maintenance contract both maintenance and subsequent repair calls are discounted. Valves leaked again in a bit over 2 years; sulfur in the water corroded the parts. Lowe suggested a different, cheaper, stainless steel unit. 3 years now, no leaks. This last repair was for a part I think began failing soon after installation but because it showed no diagnostic errors, is difficult to prove. Since it was replaced, the system runs flawlessly, better than when new. The company is a bit pricey, but they are true to their estimates, no matter how long it takes. Some of their estimates are outrageous so I laugh and look elsewhere. BUT THEY COME WHEN YOU CALL, and when it's cold outside and the heating system is down, that's what I need. They are clean to a fault, booties on shoes before they take a step into the house; refuse cleaned up and taken away. About everything I want in any type of contractor or service; high quality service that is there when you need them. I'll gladly pay a bit extra for that.
Description of Work: Replace control valve in my geothermal heating/AC system. High cost because of all the pieces that had to be removed and reinstalled to get at the valve; poor manufacturing design. No way around it; I watched.

It took some time. They had to find the problem, which involved one man going into the crawl space underneath my house and finding the right wire, feeding it back to the man in the bedroom, then replacing it. They were great: competent and informed, and very courteous to me, answering all my questions. Great professionals.

We met with Fred from Lowe's to discuss and then arrange for the work to be done. They broke down everything as we asked about different things such as the central AC, humidifier and air purifier not knowing what exactly we were going to do. They did this for 2 different systems. They had to set up for asbestos abatement as the old furnace and duct work was wrapped in asbestos tape. The company they hired for that was excellent. I found each of the workers to be polite, friendly and most willing to explain things to me. We had some delay due to weather holding them up in setting up the condenser for the AC. We have used them in the past for minor things and I would not hesitate to use them in the future for any large or small job. I really can't say if they were the cheapest, middle or most expensive. I called 3 other companies...one didn't even have an answering machine and I was not willing to trust such an expensive endeavor to them, The others wanted nothing to do with the asbestos saying there wasn't any company in the area who did that. Obviously there is. I highly recommend Lowe's.

We did not contract with Jeff Lowe Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. We found better ROIs elsewhere. We also wanted, and found, a BPI (Building Performance Institute) certified contractor.

Estimates were provided for both ducted ($24,000) and ductless ($19,000) air conditioning systems. We have been customers of Jeff Lowe Heating and Plumbing for years, but rarely called them for anything other than routine maintenance on our heating/AC. Had a small plumbing issue today that I just didn't want to deal with, a cracked plastic pipe under the sink. While here, I asked how much to snake the line when he had it open, as we had had issues with slow drain and occasional backups. Quoted over $600 to replace a plastic pipe and snake the line. Insane. So we are no longer customers of Jeff Lowe. Hopefully others have had more humane interactions with this company. I will say that generally their service people have been professional and pleasant, but I am so deeply offended by the price gouging. Less than $20 of materials at any home improvement store and running a snake down a 2and quot; pipe for over $600? I don't think so.
