Quickly and efficiently

They are expensive, but I think they do okay. He came in the winter. I would rather have him wait. He did a lot of damage to my lawn during the winter. To me, if it's on your lawn, it's better to have it done in the summer time. With snow on the ground, it was very hard for them to get everything up. I had called to ask him to look at it, because it seemed like it was not a healthy tree. He said he could not save it and before I knew it, he was cutting it down. I had a lot of patchwork to do on the lawn and a lot of chips to get up when the snow melted. He has a whole big crew. The man who did the actual cutting was very good because he had to be up in that bucket. They didn't do the trunk line all the way to my satisfaction at all. He did send somebody back in the Spring that redid it at no charge. I've never had a big tree so close to the house cut down before. I don't know what other people would charge, because they had to bring in a couple of trucks. It just wasn't the best time and I think they could've done a little bit better job cleaning up. They were professional. The boss wasn't there, but they seemed to know what they were doing. I feel they are fully insured and they had good experience. They had good equipment / safe equipment.

I had the work done this Spring, and on that day, it was still misting after a heavy rain. Due to the ground saturation level, several rather deep ruts were left in the yard by the heavy equipment they had to drive across my very wet yard to access the tree behind the garage. Next time, I'll have the one remaining old tree taken down in the fall, when the ground is dried out. The crew was very polite, and the crew chief was very knowledgeable. I'll use them again.

Their price is a little high, but all tree services are. They cut down many trees, there were one or two that I thought should have been cut down too, but they said not to worry about those. They could have easily have cut those down and charged me.

I would first like to say that we had Dave's Tree Service care for our Tulip Tree from the mid 1990's when the current owners father was in charge, until the Fall of 2011. We contacted Dave to trim some dead branches and asked for a consultation on possible bug infestation. Dave told us we needed the tree sprayed which we agreed to. When the crew came to do the trimming I asked about the spraying and they indicated Dave had done it himself the weekend before when we were out of town. We have video surveillance on our property and upon reviewing the video found that he had not been here. When I politely asked him about it and even suggested that maybe he confused us with another client he became threatening and abusive. When I mentioned the video surveillance he acted offended that I "felt the need to check up on him". I could see that I was going to get nowhere and paid the $1500 bill and told him to consider it severance pay as I would no longer require his services. I have since found another arborist that is a true professional and our tree has never looked better. If you just want a tree cut down and removed, then Dave's Tree Service could be an option, but if you want an honest to goodness tree doctor I cannot recommend Dave's Tree Service.

Good quality of work.

I saw Dave on Saturday for the estimate, and he promised the following Monday. He showed up bright and early with a crew of four, a boom truck, a dump truck, a pickup and a cross between a track laying Bobcat and a mower on steroids to clear the banks and hedge. Over two days of hard, continuous work, they cut down and turned into mulch a good sized failing mulberry tree and a good-sized dying crab apple, cleared the bank that fronts the road and chewed back the Forsythia hedge that's been steadily taking over the south property line. His people were friendly, professional and hard working. The work seemed a bit expensive, but I had not gotten competitive bids. Like the work and he made sure everything was done to my satisfaction

In the winter of 2010, Dave removed many trees that were a danger to our house. This was after a tree had actually fallen on the roof of our screened in porch. When we called Dave and left a message, he responded within the hour, and he and his crew arrived that same afternoon. They are incredibly responsive in an emergency. In August of 2011 after Hurricane Katrina, we again used Dave's Tree Service to clean up after the devastation. And last week, we used Dave's Tree Service to take down a small tree. Whether the project is major or minor, Dave and his crew do the same excellent work. In addition to providing the highest level of professional work, the crew has been so cooperative and accommodating on each occasion. Dave's Tree Service is just the greatest!

I called. Dave Hughes came to estimate. The next day he sent his crew. The work was clean and efficient and professional. The price was right.

This appointment was made three months ago and confirmed two weeks ago. It is a very large, tall pine tree, with four huge trunks forking out from a 12-foot tall main trunk. It is an all-day job, possibly two days. Dave, the proprietor, said a crew would come out on Tuesday, August 19th, at 9 a.m., and work all day, possibly for two days. Long story short, they were a no-show and they didn't call. It was raining slightly for a couple of hours in the morning, but the forecast was for dry and sunny weather by mid-morning, so I expected them to show up and begin work late. I also called them four times over the course of the day; they did not return even one of my calls. The next day they did not show up or call either. (And, last but not least, he wanted cash for the job, no checks. Literally thousands of dollars in hundred-dollar bills.) I will certainly not be using this service again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
